ok the site really needs to get this fixed and by getting a new server that has more data allotment could fix it and with a site this big you could get the amount needed easyly but i am getting tired of getting the boot for nothing everynow and then

i have noticed that the server seems to come up with the "server is too busy" messages a lot lately...ever since the chat room was added infact...is it possible that these two are connected?

it seems to say it everyday now and it takes like half an hour for me to log in, It needs fixed!!!!!....please;)

I don't get it too often, it doesn't bug me like.

The chatroom runs off the server, and considering there was VERY few occasions we had a 'too busy' message without the chatroom... suffice to say, the problem is staring us in the faces.

A flash-chat wouldn't give us these problems. :P

I don't think I ever got the "Server too busy" before the chatroom. I usually get it a couple of times a day now and have to wait about 5 minutes or something. I just usually keep pressing refresh until the page loads.

Oh the irony after I tired to access the main page after viewing this thread ...
Its really starting to annoy me now.

It seems that either:

A) The chat rooms are too much for the server causing this to happen more often.

B)Something different is screwing the server.

C)I don't have a clue....help?
Hmm... I'm not sure if it's the chatroom. I know I got the message before it was up & running. Of course, it wasn't as frequent as it is now, but still...

Something else had to be doing it before.

But honestly, if I get this message one more time I'll scream. It makes for a horribly unpleasant viewing experience. :(

No one can hear us all scream when this message gets up. >_<

What are the benefits of the flashchat again, care to enlighten a newb?

I remember getting this every so often back in March ansd April, but I haven't seen the message or the error for close to 2 months now for me. Weird. But it is a pain at times when you want to check out the forums and...ya can't. When Big Boss finishes up his exams for the summer here today, I'm sure he'll be all on this and help us out.

I am glad. =D. I really like this site and seeing that message annoyes me because it stays forever! lol. So, I just kinda go somewhere else. lmao.

Eh, the number of people logged into the chat is a likely cause. I've seen up to eleven or twelve people on at once. How many of them actually chat? Is there any way to code it so it boots people off after 15-20 minutes of not saying a word?

...eh, either that or the flash chat would work just fine.

A flash-chat is a variation to what we have now, however it wouldn't run off our current server, and is plentiful of various features. A user can customize font colour/style, they can assign emoticons to their names so it'll show when they post, they can change the way they see a background... etc. It's got a very nice user-friendly interface too, and is pretty cool in design. The best feature of it being that it wouldn't run off the server. :P

However our current chat, I believe, is not a 'finished' design. We'll be getting the full version no doubt, and I don't know whether that will have some way of decreasing server-usage. This chat would be fine if we could get unlimited hosting though...

The full version will, from my understanding, only add support for multiple channels at once. Meaning you could be in several channels at once.
This will INCREASE server usage, not DECREASE it.

The reason why the chat is causing these messages is that its AJAX, which means its a constant connection to the server.
Basically, for every single user online, it constantly asks the server if there's any new data (chat messages). The server resource usage increases exponentially with the number of users online.
