I want to give a lot of background to what I personally expected March event to do for me. Especially since everyone told me to wait for it. So my expectations were: Get rid of my negative feelings for Luna, gain new perspective on what kind of person Noctis is. Also warm up to redesigns.

Basically all the negatives of the previous trailers somehow be redacted by either giving me more or reinforcing what they have to expect less.

I got a little buts here and there.

I will start off with the positives: Noctis. If I'm going to buy this game. I might buy it because of his character. In this event we saw how much he was left in the dark even from his friends. Which made me question where their relationship was going. He's basically a sheltered prince who needs to grow up and be the person he needs for his country (at least what I got from the trailer).

And that's it. Thats all I can say I was genuinely interested in. Everything else was more of the same. I noticed some classic ff monsters that amused me but was expected. And of course I'm not enjoying Luna as a character. We already have so many "dignified" characters and once again I have yet to see a game changer for her. She feels like she's taking the princess and oracle route but doesn't do anything interesting. Idk why there are fans of her when we see virtually nothing or have even been shown a hint of what to expect that's good.

For Stella we we're giving hints that she would be recurring antagonist so with the idea of her being a friend to noctis or almost romantic, it was a nice game changer. But what is the game changer with Luna? I bet its that she's going to sacrifice herself, and if it's predictable it's not that great of an idea.

Florence and the Machine's cover of Stand by Me boy do in have an opinion about this and I really want to talk about that. I was not happy with it, but before you think I'm impossible to please, allow me to explain.

I personally thought the cover was "OK". I didn't think it was the best cover out there. And it sounded a little too reprises for my taste. However, this cover did something that probably wasn't intended to do. This cover was reminding me of Final Fantasy XIII's English ending song My Hands by Leona Lewis.

And you all know that final fantasy xiii gives me such a horrible distaste. i will forever hate this game with a passion. So as I'm being reminded of something related to ff13 I obviously could not enjoy it and I actually hate it. I know that's harsh. If you like it and doesn't remind you of ff13 then more power to you.

Now the ending with the car turning into a airship. This is the moment where I forgot all that I was amused, groaned and facepalmed. With more talk about the airship, I was contemplating what they we're going to do. And they went the cheap and easy route. This leaves so many questions. Of cars can turn into flying cars even at a later point in the game what was the point in making this game feel like a road trip!?

I think that's a bad way to add airships. It devalues the universe and just makes it look like total cop out.

Overall I don't hate the trailer. Its not the monstrosity that was DAWN trailer. But the hype was to reinforce those who already were excited. This event does nothing to get rid of the naysayers or those who have doubts. So let me talk about my revelation.

Now for the other media. I honestly could care less. I don't care for an anime based on the boy band. I don't care about the movie relating to Regis. So long as the game stands on it's own. Which I have a feeling it won't. I'm sure Se is trying to do the Meta way. Which confuses me more on what the original vision was and what the problem was.

MY REVELATION

I always had a distaste for new final fantasy ever since 13. And there we're times where I wanted to give up on the series and the company. They simply not taking the right risks or really care about the minority.

As an individual, my opinion means squat. To both the company and fellow fans. They all react the same way. Eother negatively or dont care. And the company just doesn't even care to respond my concerns.

I mean it's incredibly easy to change my opinion. It really is. If the company chose to take the route of PR that is obviously in their favor then they can clear doubts. But they don't and they won't.

For SE in this scenario it's really just allowing or asking Nomuras to share his honest opinion on ffxv. Heck, even if it's fake. As a content Creator you can tell when it's fake and when it's not just by how much they say and how specific they are.

for fellow fans is having a real discussion and not one you put on pause for a while then go back to it from the beginning. Its progressively going from beginning to end without rehashing the exact same info. Or really just a little acknowledgement.

I'm currently at a place in my life where I'm sick to death of fandoms. They ruin the experience and make you second guess your opinion. I can't enjoy undertake without fans getting in the way or FNAF.

I'm now excited for spiritual successors such as Mighty No.9 and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Those games look great and taking the best bits of the predessessor. I just wish there was a final fantasy spiritual successor. One almost as Meta but had control and more faithful to both fans and their content creators.

So this is my revelation. I don't feel like I belong anymore. I loved final fantasy but final fantasy was a game that I thought I understood and it understood me. But that is no longer the case.

Ok, so while I don't agree with a lot of what you've pointed out, I will say that your stance is mostly fair. I can actually sympathize with some of your feelings such as with the car being the airship--you have a point, I just don't think it'll ruin my enjoyment of the game and I don't see why it should ruin everyone else's either. However a few things did stand out to me, and as it's late and I've been at this for over 11 hours now I'll keep it short. Hopefully I don't come across as too blunt, as that's not my intention.

They simply not taking the right risks or really care about the minority.

I really don't know what to tell you at this point, when the minority is 1 person it's hard to expect a company to pander to them.

As an individual, my opinion means squat. To both the company and fellow fans. They all react the same way. Eother negatively or dont care.

Because some of us would rather just enjoy what we get. It's not that nobody cares about your opinion, it's that the rest of the world isn't going to change its opinion simply to match yours, and after so long of discussing it the rest of us would rather move on with life and enjoy what we have instead of pine for what we don't.

I'm currently at a place in my life where I'm sick to death of fandoms. They ruin the experience and make you second guess your opinion.

I can completely understand this position, however I'd say the problem with fandoms is an undue amount of negativity, not minority opinions. Food for thought.

I just wish there was a final fantasy spiritual successor.

There is, it's called Bravely Default. If that isn't close enough for you, I don't know what will be. Replay the classic FF games if that's all that'll satisfy you. They're classic for a reason and well worth the time replaying. Who knows? They might even help you gain some new perspective on the Final Fantasy of the present day. As it is, it's much harder for Square Enix to compete with your nostalgia than to compete with what the old FF games actually were.

Again, just something to think about.

There is more than 1 person I assure you. I'm just the only person "here".

But I know Square Enix is aware as I've been informed they actual had ongoing discussions but we're brushed off. From what i heard everything was a legal issue. Even formaking/encourage/allowing Nomura to share an opinion about a game. Which really rises questions. But that's all according to the group I speak with. I'm discussing it with them.

I don't agree with undue negativity than it is minority. Right now the majority is clearly positive in most places any negativity is usually for dead series such as megaman.

Again....I don't feel like I belong anymore. I see final fantasy and I simply don't see the defining RPG anymore. I see the corporate, PR stunts and clever word choices. The only ff game that doesn't do that for me is ff14 because that game raised from previous ff that was a PROVEN failure and did something amazing just by listening. And its still within the same universe the previous created. My only complaint is that it borrows a little too much from others but I see the heart and joy and selflessness of it.

But I often feel like my opinion is unheard of. Or this is the first time they hear it and are dumbfounded. Its difficult to explain so I'll leave it as is. I simply don't belong and it has nothing to do with nostalgia. I as a ff fan played the games in order to understand it before I became a fan.

As an addition. Bravely Default is OK. It has nothing to do with nostalgia.

But the things I believe define final fantasy now is how Meta it is. Each entry an entirely new world and new story with similar themes and enemies and creatures.

I respect your opinion Raz but the way you view things seems to be so skewed at times. The cars turning into Airships doesn't bother me in the slightest it looked funny but then I guess it was a viable option. The used the car and road trip as a focal point. Giving it a later game use was practical.

The he anime and movie are great additions and they are free it is not like they are charging you for them. They are using these to expand the universe that is FFXV not in the way FFXIII did it.

Seeing the the environments trailer and the characters I can't see how it isn't a Final Fantasy game. I think Square-Enix has done the fans proud I really do. It has been a long time coming and September 30th is around the corner. Even if you don't play it many newcomers will and many older fans will rekindle their love for Final Fantasy. Even by watching the stream seeing how dedicated and passionate they are. You are a vocal minority.

I wasn't taking this sort of thing into consideration in my previous reply. I can understand feeling injustice over the change of direction, but honestly Versus XIII was going nowhere under Nomura. Letting him do the basework for XV and then turning it over to another director was the right call, otherwise we might never have gotten the game. Square Enix has had to do a lot of internal restructuring over the years--I don't see why there needs to be any hard feelings over it considering it was necessary for them to get back on their feet.

You overestimate the general gaming community, I'm afraid. Gamers will complain if a game drops to 59 FPS these days. Sometimes it feels like they're more creative at coming up with things to complain about than the developers were at creating things to put in the game in the first place. That's not to say gamers should blindly accept whatever they're given, but there's a big difference between constructive criticism and being utterly impossible to please (not saying you are, just the general gaming community). So when something good does come along, we need to encourage it, to stand above the noise. I'd say SE has been doing a lot of listening to fans about FFXV and what we're getting in September will be better for it.

The anime and movie are great additions and they are free it is not like they are charging you for them.

Yes they are. Anime is free, movie is not ;)

I took it more seriously.

My argument isn't that final fantasy xv isn't final fantasy. But the way final fantasy as a property is controlled. I remember it being less controlled.

I mean my opinion may seem skewed but then again ibfeel no one understands exactly. What did you think about my opinion on Florence and the machine's cover for the theme? I was hoping somnus was going to remain the theme.

How do you feel about my opinion on Luna?

Or how my opinion on the situation that this all stirred?

My impressions were really mix about the overall uncovering.

First let us talk about the actual game stuff.

Firstly the gameplay, I was overall impressed with the gameplay they showed. Sure it seemed very action base (like Kingdom Hearts) but I think it is the right move for the game, I do enjoy the Traditional ATB in RPGs, but this is the first main game to do this and really is kinda interesting.

Next just overall look of the game looks pretty good, I mean visually it is amazing, but this is Final Fantasy, and visual art in game has always been a top notch thing since basically VII.

The car/flying car was kinda meh to me. I was hoping more for a "base airship" kinda feel where you can actually look inside the airship and explore it... but I guess this is ok to, as long as you can really travel in the flying car to places that aren't apart of the main story.

Also the picking people up on the side of the road to do side quests seems weird to me, but interesting I guess, I mean I hope it isn't like stupid side quests like in an MMO "go kill 10 of these monsters and report to me."

The pingball mini game, is... meh, I'm not sure...seems kinda lame, but maybe people will enjoy it, just not my cup of tea.

The new demo that is really more of the pregame with a young Noctis/dream seems ok I guess, I did kinda zone out with it, but I guess you get a free DLC for completing it, so those that already have a ps4 (that isn't me) go play it if you are going get FFXV :elmo:

ok now to talk about the Non game stuff

First the 5 episode anime seems ok, I hope that it is more back story than "the four brothers" as they called by the annoying announcers. Haven't watched the first episode yet, but it seems like an ok move, I mean this wouldn't be the first video game anime.

The next is the CGI movie. This I am really not that impressed with. I don't get why they made this move at all, it seems like a waste of money to me...but again this I could be wrong on, just past history with Final Fantasy movies is telling me to not hold my breath. And with an actor that I can't stand in movies in it, I am really not going hold my breath...

So overall here is my impression

Main game: A- great game play and visual and the little story they kinda told/show seems really promising I think.

mini game: C- Not my cup of tea but again could be more to it than I think at least.

Young Noctis Demo: C+ get a free dlc for beating it sooo, yeah...

Anime: B+ It seems promising so I am hoping for the best for the anime.

CGI Movie: D I really hope this does turn out good, then maybe we can get a really amazing video game movie, but overall with the past cgi movies from Square.... not promising.

Chop On Dale how did you feel about the cover song? It left me a distaste and I haven't exactly discussed it with others.

Chop On Dale how did you feel about the cover song? It left me a distaste and I haven't exactly discussed it with others.

I don't hate the song, but then again I was saying last night it was kinda a nice song, but after rewatching and listening to the song, it doesn't really seem like a good fit at all for Final Fantasy XV... at least not the way I saw them presenting it.

I do like the fact they are having Final Fantasy Radio, so maybe they won't have that song on there and you can just put on some nice classic Final Fantasy music instead :hmmm:

I also want to say something that wasn't shared before. But when I asked for open world when final fantasy XIII came out and we got this linear crap. I didn't mean vast seem less fields but more of allowing us to control where we go. Allowing me to backtrack, take shortcuts.

So I'm still not sold by having seem less open world and also be focused on roadtrip style.

I know if people really wanted to understand my opinion and see where I'm coming from, they would know I'm being completely rational. Anyone here an actual content Creator?

Anyone here an actual content Creator?

I take a paycheck for programming a game engine and I'm currently in the final stages of writing a script for my own original game, does that count?

I didn't mean vast seem less fields but more of allowing us to control where we go. Allowing me to backtrack, take shortcuts

I think this is exactly what FFXV is going for, but to be honest the open world is my one remaining concern with the game. Really it all comes down to pacing. I don't want a world that's open and empty so the car is just a sight-seeing device between major plot segments. If they can fill the world with things to do and make me feel like I always have a meaningful objective then they will have done it right. Xenoblade Chronicles (not X) is a great example of this. That game's world is huge and you can visit any part of it you've discovered again at any time and story still manages to be delivered at a constant clip. After last night's event, I can honestly say I have faith FFXV will deliver in that regard, but I also won't be shocked if reviews start coming out saying it's a bit empty.

How do you feel about my opinion on Luna

luna as a character I think is far too early to tell because like you mentioned we understand her role but we haven't seen anything to invest in her and it is also for that reason we can't criticise her. A lot of characters keep appearing in these trailers that we still know very little about. I would rather them keep hush on a lot of character motivations etc and let us discover that as we play.

Also what if Nomura used her for a predictable route would you complain then? Cliches are common in JRPGs it's just the way they are executed that can surprise us.

The cover song I felt was fitting and it didn't have that cheese my Leona Lewis's track for FFXIII. At first it threw me off but as it played on I actually thought it was fitting for the journey we have had in waiting and the journey Noctis will have in the game.

People led are going to moan about whatever because they will. Square-Enix have really gone balls to the wall and fired on all cylinders and I hope it goes well for them. I know you love Nomura and are constantly stuck in what would his be like land but alas I agree with AuronX because he would have never finished it or it would have been cancelled. Embrace what we have and what we have is something I look forward to playing Day 1 alongside a lot of others.

And even if it is fake praise probably isn't but when the father of Final Fantasy says they have done right and is genuinely impressed we as fans should support them more so. He has no real reason to fake his view cause he works at another firm making games.

AuronX I'm referring to a situation if you are working for a company that gives you the freedom to create something and have control for it.

.Mosh i have criticized Nomura before. I dislike most of his female characters and they're usually not that well developed. I'm going from Tifa, to Kairi and Aqua. I also think he wants to turn everything into a series.

But yes, if Nomura created a character exactly like this, I would criticize him as usual.

I don't love Nomura, but most of my investment was to see his take on his version of what FF that wasn't the norm. Look back on what ffvs13 was about him expressing his version of FF.

So it was his take. And my biggest disappoint it is how it's handled. If you read my other thread you'll understand. The father of FF's opinion is put really high. And it's the only reason why I'm still considering it. But I'm still not excited.

With open world game even with a more linear direction for main story just doesn't do it as strongly for me. I need to see a game changer. I haven't seen that yet. I like Noctis a lot. But the other characters? I used to trust Se in an entire cast, but since ff13 it's been just one character and everyone else is a trade off. And ffvs13 was trying hard to be the opposite of 13 before it even released.
