I see a "Classes you love" thread from a while ago but not one for subjects you absolutely hated/hate, so here we go.

Throughout your whole school/college life so far, which subject(s) have just been unbearable? Classes so mind-numbingly dull that it becomes a chore to sit through without falling asleep on the desk? Classes so brutally difficult that the sight of an essay or coursework or an exam to do with that subject is enough to intimidate you completely or make you lose the will to live? Or perhaps a certain teacher has turned what should have been otherwise a respectably decent class into - essentially - crap?

To start with, I hated Maths. Bear in mind I only studied it up to the end of the GCSE level, and compared to many of you here who have gone on to study advanced mathematics (which is on a totally different level of cruelty), I've barely scratched the surface, if at all. I've never enjoyed it and I remember even being in tears at one point when I was 6-7 because I felt that my primary school teacher at the time was pushing me too hard on memorising the 9x table. I've never enjoyed algebra, I hate surds as much as I hate being ill and geometry gave me a headache.

This brings me to Physics. Out of the three sciences, this was my least favourite (whereas Biology was my favourite of the three, being rather descriptive in nature when you study it). It never interested me, and the monotony of my teacher's voice who probably should have been a university lecturer instead wasn't the ideal remedy either. I was fine with most of the theory work, but when it came to the actual task of calculating various things, no thank you.

Actually, now that I think about it, the very sub-topic of Political Science is turning out to be awful. It's like an insult to the word "science". :mokken:

I can think of about 3 classes :hmmm:

1. IB Anthropology - This class was so boring, and I'm glad I switched out of it early on :hmph: The teacher was a hippie and really bad at it :sad3: But what really surprised me was that I found it interesting when an Anthropologist came for something we did last year. So I blame the teacher for making it hard and boring :hmph:

2. History with the Anthropology teacher from above - Now I really enjoyed my history class last year...with one of the two teachers we had :ffs: The amazing History teacher we have got his degree in music (he's the band teacher) and I guess couldn't teach the class all year round. It sucked. Mondays and Wednesdays we had him, and we did awesome fun things and, get this, we actually learned :hmph:! Thursdays and Fridays we were thrown across the shcool to this teacher's class to get bored to death and not learn anything (or at least not remember anything we learned). I fell asleep in her class countless times over the year.

3. Biology and Chemistry - I suck so bad at science classes :sad2: I only managed to pass my three years of Bio and Chem by cheating on every test and getting help from friends >_> Got all Bs and As and one D, some how. It bored me to death so I didn't bother paying too much attention. The teacher was great, though (in Biology, at least :hmph:), and is how I managed to pass. She either thought I studied for the tests that I managed to pass, or knew I was cheating and let me off easy. I scored the highest on the final test of IB Biology last year thanks to my iPod's WiFi :ffs: My Chemistry teacher, on the other hand, was horrible. He lost a lot of my work throughout the year and tried to say I didn't turn it in. Thankfully he was laid off :ryan:

And that's just in high school :monster: I'll probably take something like anatomy for my science credits in college.

Classes I hate?

Math. I hate math. Anything past Algebra. I actually enjoy Algebra (I know I'm weird) but after that it's pure pure hate. It's just a giant headache, and I know it's so cliche to say, but with the jobs I plan to have, it's totally not useful to me to know an extreme amount of math. I understand the basics are necessary for life, but beyond that, it's like when will I use this?

And that's really all I hate. I don't like science but some of it is actually interesting.

Classes I hate? Math. I hate Math so much. I never have to take it in my life again thankfully. I only did Math all the way till when I just started College. As soon as I started College, Math was non existent to me. I hated it so much in high school. It was so fucking frustrating I just could not help it. Only God knows how I passed. I seriously was so frickin irritated with Math in all my years of high school. It is just fucking terrible! I HATE Alegbra, or anything to do with it. I hate graphs, I hate it all. Luckily, I am not in business or something along that, so I do not require high math. Mathematics is and will always be the worst nightmare of my life. Again, it was a Miracle that I passed. I struggled so much with it, it was just horrible. I also had the most boring teachers ever, and they all put me to sleep.

Science is another that was just frickin annoying. Nowadays, I do not have to do anything related to Science, but in High School, oh boy was it hell. I hated every bit of it, and will always hate it. I am talking about Physical Science here, and Chemistry and Physics must be terrible. I passed, but again, I was not a straight A student in Science. Biology was one I did well in, but do I want to take it again? No.

Ah yes, Physical Education. Let me first start off by saying physical education is pretty hell in College. The way the teachers scream, and make you run here is just annoying. You can lose marks even when you are tired! I like some sports such as Football(European of course) Ever since I entered College here, I always had these shite phys ed courses that require you to run 12-17 mins every class, do stretches, exercises etc. Yeah, it just gets so dull to the point I want to throw up. My current volleyball class is pretty shite in all honesty. If I can step on the midget of a teacher that I have, maybe I would not have to attend anymore. I am pretty sure she would call physical assault on me. I hate it because we do the same things every class. It is so dull. Not to mention the idiots in my class. How the fuck they got past high school is beyond me.

When I was at school, I hated GCSE Chemistry because my teacher was just terrible. He spent forever explaining and repeating simple points, whilst telling off the disruptive members in the class. It was a shame 'cause I had loved Chemistry in years 8 and 9... I ended up spending two years not learning, and taught myself the entire subject during study leave. Furthermore, I hated using chemicals. I felt unsafe with acids and corrosive, explosive materials, so I avoided contributing to experiments whenever possible.

I hated Drama too... I felt so self conscious. When you're on stage, you're always being judged, and back then I was quite chubby and was often bullied for being 'ugly.' My self esteem was incredibly low (more so than it is now). I found it quite distressing standing up in front of a crowd whilst trying to be someone else, and trying to convince an audience of people that I was worth their time...

I also hated Geography and gave it up after year 9. I hated it because of my teacher, who was the most aggressive, most intimidating piece of work. During my second week at the school, she gave most of the students in my class a referral (two led to an after school detention) because we forgot to hand in our first homework. She also leant in really close (about 15cm away) to shout at me... I don't exaggerate there, either. She leant in over my desk as far as she could. I'll always remember her for that... It's a shame. I could have enjoyed Geography, but the idea of having her again frightened me. :/

Software testing

It is the only class I am not on top of and doing well in. I've a poor lecturer who puts up no notes, and has no idea what he's doing in practicals. For the first two weeks he had us using the wrong program. Once I have notes to work with I'll be fine, I am not stupid like the rest of you peasants

video games in society

i just sit there bored listening while the teacher just stands there talking and talking and talking all lesson then he goes do your assignment o_O it just like soooo boring :O

And that's a class that should be fun, right?

I know how you feel. Creative Writing was meant to be the best part of my course at University... I had been looking forward to it the most. In the end, it was the worst (during first year). The teacher droned on and on and edited each sentence as she spoke five or six times. She'd spend the whole lesson (2 hours) going through half a side of A4, explaining and re-explaining one point on a list of simple points. Pure agony for us all.

Art Theories

My course requires 12 units of this. Theory classes don't bug me, I took Psych 101 under my elective units, but Art Theories should just...die. I didn't even know there was such thing a as Art Theories, so I don't have any foundations for it. It was something I had to just dive right into.

Nevermind the fact that the classes are being taught by the department chair, but the readings are so difficult. It takes me 3, maybe 4 times before I understand what the reading is about. I'm actually really tired of uni readings in general. It's just a lot of complicated words replacing what could have been said in regular English sentences. :hmph:

Then comes the exams and of course it's all essay type.
'Explain Orientalism by Edward Said's definition, compare and contrast it to Bernard Lewis' definition and give examples of Orientalist art (must have title, artist and date) that support these definitions respectively. Expound.' (I still remember this because it was the first time I'd ever failed a midterm exam)

...no, I don't want to. :hmph: Why does this even require so many units, it's not like I'm going to be an art critic or a curator. :hmph:

Math! I've always sucked at math, and I'm not getting any better. It sucks that math is used in everyday life.

Biology: dear Gilgamesh! This is so boring! I can't stand it. Just thinking about it gets me all worked up. Guh.... Okay I'm good. Anyway I hardly understood what was going on. I don't know how I passed....

Classes you despise

The Dragoon class. The idea of it is great, but in practicality it just sucks. The only exception is FF7's Cid, and that barely counts as dragoon.

EDIT: Holy shit, just realized this is the study hall forum :lolwhack:

English- it is so monotonous and, in my opinion, pointless. It's as if it exists just to give education a dull edge.

Haaaaaaahahahahahahahahahaha

I majored in History and English, and I love math ... and I pretty much loved going to school. HOWEVER, no one could pay me to take Geology again. That class was so mind-numbingly unbearable that I constantly wanted to bash my head against the wall. Once you get past the volcanoes and tectonics sections (that were both fairly interesting), it's nothing but rocks and dirt and other boring stuff. No thanks.

I also hated Chemistry and Biology and anything science-related. :P
