[RUMOUR] Final Fantasy Versus XIII to be named FFXV?

To be frank as longs as the game and characters are good and excellent don't really care if it's FF VS XIII or FF XV. It's going to have a world map and controllable airship in it from memory so it's better that it's going to be XV because a world map and controllable airship in a main title again since a decade of not having that is just amazing and will feel like the good days again. ( Hopefully)

I'm also happy that this game is no longer related to that messy FF XIII series. FF XIII feels like a mess to me personally and it feels good that it's going to be longer related to that messy series. FF XIII alone it's okay; but adding FF XIII-2 the storyline and character development is just all screwed up. Not to mention a even more messy ending.

The only thing that gets me is the XBOX fans that are going to be missing out and excluded from this game just for choosing Micosoft over Nintendo and Sony. They put FF XIII and FF XIII-2 for the XBOX so why the sudden exlcuding ?

Whenever it's lazy or not as longs as the game ends up being good and the best since FFX or even better it doesn't matter. Honeslty I feel like this choice is best minus the poor XBOX people.

I agree, any upcoming Final Fantasy game that has nothing to do with the Nova Crystallis story branch is a welcome edition to the series.

What does seem very strange to me is that, development for multi-platform games are usually very tedious. At this point, the have at least 6 years of development under their belt.
It would be quite foolish to scrap the 360 version after years and millions of dollars spent in its development cycle, in favor of starting a Wii U port. Doesn't make much sense.

Several reliable sources like Novacrystallis has said that this video is fake. Even if no one says so, the footage looks too fishy too be true.

I hope no one gets their expectations too high or too low because of a highly potentially false news.

I thought it was intended to be exclusively for PS3 anyway though, so they wouldn't have to scrap anything, they'll just have to start work on the Wii U port. Or am I wrong and they were making it for 360 as well because I'm sure I read that it wasn't.

No, you are actually right, Versus XIII was a PS3 exclusive. Good memory.

I haven't kept up with Final Fantasy news until I joined the forums not to long ago, so I forgot about that.

So it does seem possible for them to have come to an agreement to begin work on a wii u port.

Still seems fishy to me, when does E3 start?
 
E3 starts in a few days. It's from the 5th to the 7th, so it starts on Tuesday.

It is possible that they could rebrand Versus, but I don't know how likely a Wii U port would be, considering from what I've gathered so far, the development of Versus has been optimised to suit the PS3, and we don't even know what the Wii U is like: will it on par with the current consoles, or will its performance not even fully match them? I think we need to see more of the Wii U first, but I wouldn't hope my breath for any confirmation of a port at this stage.

If we're basing this whole speculation on that so-called video leak, then I can pretty much assure people that it's an elaborate fabrication. I don't know how reputable Kotaku is because I'm not a regular of the site but it's supposedly confirmed what a lot of us were already suspecting. No surprises there then. :rolleyes:

I wouldnt mind if this was true though. Essentially they could probably change some of the terminology and make it a new game that isnt connected. It looks drastically different from the FFXIII series anyways. Even Type 0 kinda reminds me of FFXIII in some ways.

But I wouldnt mind them doing this and then making a FFXIII-3 as well.
 
Honestly I'm not surprised to find that this is fake. The logo animation had a very noticeable jerk in it--not like a professional job for something like that to be there. Plus there's the fact that the video never showed us the entire logo...chances are it was just reused from an existing game, possibly with colors changed to disguise it a bit. In other words, what was shown there would be extremely easy to fake. After reading the updated info on the youtube video though, I don't think the intentions were malicious; for a school project it was kind of a neat idea, actually. Can't imagine a lot of effort went into it though, since I could recreate the video in After Effects in 10 minutes or so :P

i guess it is better to put it back to xbox 360 since there are more user of that platform.
and, imagine playing FF in a wii? sounds weird right?
 
Yep case closed to a possible interesting concept! maybe S-E might press on with actually giving us some info on the game now haha

Seriously!! This should be a wake up call to SE. If we continue to get no updates on the game people are going to continue to make stuff like this up. lol. So........update us!! Even a new trailer would do. Or just general info on how the development is going.....anything!

Be careful what you wish for: if people actually get some info on this game, they mind find out that there is nothing to be excited about. When it comes to Square Enix, ignorance is bliss...for the fans, anyway. The less you know, the easier it is to kid yourself that they're not going to mess this up in exactly the same way they've messed up their recent games :lew:

Watch all these unfounded hopes vanish if/when we get some concrete information~
