What a big fat insult.

Like we needed auto life >=[

So it would have been difficult without it, that's what training is for. I don't think I died all that much if at all during that last boss battle. Plus he was the crappiest looking boss ever. It kinda put a huge dampner on an otherwise great game. I personally like all the panic involved in thinking Im about to die because I feel uber great about myself when I beat the bastard. But no. It wasn't to be

Anyone else feel robbed of a potentially good battle? =/

Well yes .... It was a very boring battle. I have since refused to finish the game .... well not really I just can't be bothered.

Back to the point, Yu Vevon had potential to be a very hard end boss but the game has a great deal of side quests, like most people I like to do these before finishing, and as a result it is simply .... easy.

I think it added to the positive effect of the game. Throughout the entire game, everyone places Yu Yevon on a high pedestal, worshiping him and his mightiness, giving the effect of him being some almighty entity. When you eventually face him, he's obviously less than impressive. I think it's a nice representation of a façade.

When I first beat Yu Yevon was my first time playing an FF, so I wasn't sure if it was intended to be so easy, but I was chuffed to bits about doing it. But since then I've played other FF games and the boss battles have been hell, so it did make me look back on X and wonder what the deal is. I don't think Jecht was even as difficult as Safer Sephiroth or Necron.

And considering you get such a wow ending afterwards, you kinda feel like you haven't done much to earn it *cries*

Yu Yevon was pants. Somehow some of my characters got KO'ed once (Can't remember how so long ago) and I though I was going to lose the battle....then Auto-Life kicked in. Fucking cheap!

I thought Yu Yeveon was a Metroid at first and that somehow Yuna would don the Zero Suit....damn, that would have been hawt now that I think of it.

Yu Yevon was really disappointing...for something controlling Sin, you'd think it would have been alot more impressive. And casting auto-life on everyone? That was just lame.

I thought Yu Yevon was a total bitch, mainly because I did train so insanely...
God damn, it was a waste of a potentially insane Boss Battle...
But I only beat him the once, because my game screwed up royally and now it freezes on the bit where you first fly to Sin and you go up to the roof of the airship.
It stops then...
DAMN IT!

i think there was accually no need for the Auto Life since you if u train that all ur characters can beat Yu Yevon in about 3 overdrives Lulu Wakka and Tidus of course since Yuna doesnt have any aeons but my Yuna was pritty powerful

Having being given no reason to believe Yu Yevon is anything but almighty just ruins the point of his build-up, or even saying he actually
created Sin
. That in itself is justification for why he SHOULD have been potentially one of the most 'uber' bosses in Final Fantasy; creating something so powerful
[Sin]
whilst performing a more tolling task
[summoning Dream Zanarkand]
is an obscene concept.

Making this particular boss as easily beatable as he is was possibly one of the worst moves by Square I've seen to date. It just makes no seeeeeeeense. Including Auto-Life seemed almost essential for
fighting your own Aeons
, but not against Yu. Absolute joke.

Even defeating the Aeons wasn't that much of a challenge because they only had a few thousand HP each. Yeah their moves might be powerful, but a couple of well-timed hits brought each down quite easily.

A shame, since the concept of killing the Aeons was almost as epic as the concept of killing the all-powerful Yu Yevon. Total disappointment.

plus if you use zombie attack on him he kills himself.

it makes sense for the final boss to be the most powerful in the game, the rest of the game has been leading up to it. not only was he totally useless, you didnt even need auto life, but he was pathetic looking, it is just a floating ball. if it was a person it would have been the personification of an anti-climax

And considering you get such a wow ending afterwards, you kinda feel like you haven't done much to earn it *cries*
yeah it even cheapens the ending

When I was faced with him at long last after all that building up I was like wtf. he's a goddam BEETLE! He had the potential to be some great big scary dude. I guess the character designer bloke was off sick that day......

Well,
Braska's Final Aeon
was big and scary enough. Any more big scary dudes, and it would have been an overkill imo. :elmo:

Id rather have overkill than some pansy of a beetle. It might aswel not even been a fight seeing as it's impossible to die.... waste of time imo

in my game i always use Tidus' Blitz Ace overdrive using his celestial weaopon, Yu Yevon is gone in one single move >.>

He's so pathetic I can't find a single picture of him to point at and laugh :wacky:

And Iv scoured the internetz, well, google anyway lol

My Auron had the ability to deal more damage exceeding the 9999 limit, so it was a one hit death for Yu Yevon. -_-

Yes, the battle was quite disappointing because after fighting Braska's Final Aeon, I thought of Yu Yevon as a more powerful being, but I guess Square Enix ran out of imagination, just like they have usually done with later FF games. ;)

In fact, even without having the ability to surpass the 9999 limit, one could just cast Reflect on Yu Yevon and have the idiot heal you instead, which makes the battle even worthless. Fighting the aeons was great, but it still doesn't compensates the big failure Yu Yevon's character design was. If it were me, I would have created a character combining parts of all the aeons to make it look scary, or perhaps have him as some sort of god-like creature with amazing speed, strength and magic. Damn I wanted the battle to last more than an hour at least, instead of a few minutes.

you could do a quick doodle on MS Paint or something to showcase his patheticness, wait, i might just do that on photoshop (using a mac atm)

To be quite honest I think I was relieved when the Fayth cast auto-life on my party.
After battling all the individual parts of Sin, Seymour, Braska's Final Aeon and my own aeons
I'd had quite enough battling.

Perhaps they wanted to show that good is ultimately stronger than evil, although why such a drastic power difference, I know not.

But that's not a valid excuse to make Yu Yevon look utterly crappy. I wouldn't mind fighting the same battle, as long as Yu-Yevon looked cooler.
