Your Favorite Songs from FF VII

Although I have heard most of VII's music before, I hadn't really listened to the OST in full and hadn't quite linked the various tracks together. However, I had a quick listen to the first few seconds of each piece yesterday to remind myself of the full list and - I must say - I was very surprised. I can now confirm that Final Fantasy VII's OST is one of the best video game OSTs to date! :gasp: It is up there with X's OST. :ryan:

Consequently, the list of my favourite pieces is lengthy... :wacky:

Tifa's Theme
- One of my favourite FF tracks of all time, but I'm not fond of the arrangement in VII. The MIDI instruments are too harsh. The piano collections version though!

Aerith's Theme
- I feel the same about this as I do about Tifa's - the piano collections version is far better. However, the original version isn't too bad. The melody is absolutely gorgeous and Nobuo has attempted to use soft instruments to reflect Aerith's gentle, loving personality, with a hint of strength and passion (appearing about 1 minute 50 seconds in).

Opening ~ Bombing Mission
- Need I explain what I love about this? :lew: It really does introduce the entire world well and builds up with the opening movie; the music builds up as the camera zooms out to present Midgar; then it pauses and as Cloud is introduced, the pace picks up. Stuff's happening!

Costa Del Sol
- There is something very stylish and catchy about this. I have been known to sit and slowly dance along to it... :lew:

Cosmo Canyon
- I love the movement, the melody, the build up of instruments... The piece makes me visualise a community, with people working togetherto build something for some reason. :hmmm: It's quite a strong, positive piece. :)

Great Warrior
- This piece does seem somewhat...melancholic and reflective. It doesn't convey the warrior's rise to greatness; rather it looks back on a warrior who once lived, who saved many but has since moved on... Where does this piece play? :wacky:

Interrupted by Fireworks
- A beautiful, calming piece which makes me think of home and family. ^_^ It conveys familiarity and comfort. The instruments are soft and the melody is gorgeous.

Descendent of Shinobi
- This is just a very uplifting, happy piece. :lew: Makes me want to dance. =)

I also love Barret's Theme, Hurry, Fighting, Still More Fighting, Cait Sith's Theme (so stylish and cool B)), Farm Boy (it actually sounds quite innocent and child-like!),

Side note: has anyone ever noticed that 'Oh Susanna' appears in Fiddle de Chocobo?

I have 3 or 4 on my favourite list of all time video game soundtracks from this game
Great warrior- The music fits the scene where it is played that creates a powerful emotional and nostalgic reaction on me : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrI8bHs6Qvk .
Cid's theme - Once I was doing a test and managed to sneak in my earphones and I put this song on. My god it game me such will and determination that I aced the shit out of that exam.Besides this theme really transmits how badass Cid is:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJzfOA9uV6E&feature=relmfu
Boss theme - Whenever Im late for something (usually school ;D) and occasionaly I listen to music on my way and when this song comes up I get this sudden urge or running to reach my destiny in pure badassness. Its like I am posessed by a great force...It gives me courage and hope for a better tomorrow (maybe im exaggerating but I really feel strongly about these songs):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxUzIrhINP4
Shinra Corporation theme - This song makes me feel very conspiratory. I imagine the government plotting against the people or something like that everytime I listen to this. Also I get a feeling of mystery and in some situations of the real life I guess it would be nice to have on the background XD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj0F2KfCvhg&feature=related
Oh and How could I forget
Cosmo canyon theme - This song just penetrates deep into my thoughts whenever I listen to it .. It makes me feel like I am exploring the remote areas of the world like a desert or a big icy mountain or a canyon itself.. Its like I become one with nature in thought...:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZBGmN5obkk&feature=related

Some powerful pieces this game has..Thats one pf the reasons I love ff7 so much :)

I like

Interrupted by Fireworks
If You Open Your Heart - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7umOvBn6O4 (CLICK IT, NAO)
Great Warrior (Red XIII's father theme)
Cosmo Canyon
The Prelude, Of Course
Jenova's Theme (The very last form of Jenova.)
Off the Edge of Despair
Birth of a God (Bizzaro Sephiroth theme)
Aerith's Theme
Highwind Takes to the Skies
Tifa's Theme

I think that's about it.

Additionally,

I like the Piano version of the Main Theme, and Tifa's Theme.

I pretty much love the entire soundtrack to be honest.......lol. But if I have to pick one or two: I hate to be the one to point out the obvious ones, but I love Aerith's theme and One Winged Angel. How can you not? The battle themes and boss fights are all good as well. And the Opening Bombing Mission. When I went to Distant Worlds that was great to listen to live, and was honestly the perfect choice to open up the shows. It really gets you pumped up for the rest of the show (and for the rest of the game when playing it)

I like all of them and it's really hard to choose but my favorites has to be, One Winged Angel, Cosmo Canyon, Bombing Machine, Cid's Theme, Aerith's Theme. The Highwind Theme.
Overall this game has one of the best music I've ever heard and always bring back memories, the composer Nobou Uemastu did a beautiful job.

My favorite song from FFVII has always been Judgement Day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGHDXDI-DNc

When I was younger, something always stood out to me about this song. I think it was the reoccurring rhythm which signified that this was it; the ending of the game. The overall melody wrapped up and summarized the hard journey that I had endured throughout the course of the game. And although I enjoyed a lot of the music during my time playing, this track connected with me the most. And over the years, after listening to this track over and over, I realized that the motif at 1:21 belonged to Aerith's Theme. A nice little treat Uematsu had added to signify that even in the end, Aerith was present in some form.

Just my thoughts.

Its hard to choose one song which I have to name as favourite but if I must I will choose "One winged angel".
Why do I choose this song? Well this song symbolize all the sadness, hatred, chaos and evil which Cloud, his team and all the people of gaia experienced. This song says to me that this fight isn't just a ordinary fight. Much things depends on the ending of this battle. If I don't beat Sephiroth then the world will be lost and a lot of innocent people will die. It's for me a impulse to don't give up and save the world.
Moreover the song and the battlefield brought me the thought that the battle was in a other dimension and that I have to fight a being beyond everything. Everytime If Sephiroth used Supernova I didn't really know If gaia will this time destroyed or not.

A fantastic song for a really epic battle. In short: It fit's perfect.

My ultimate choice would be Aeris' Theme. But there are so many classics from that soundtrack. One Winged Angel is one of the most epic things ever written.
