Playstation Xenogears

I picked up this game for a pretty penny ($75+) and it was worth every cent. The first disk was done beautifully with hours upon hours of story and gameplay, this kept me hooked until Disk 2 which was never finished due to time and budget, Disk 2 only has Dialogue and Dungeons, save points and really drug out too, the story it covers is interesting but the length of some conversations can put you to sleep.

This game is still a classic and deserves to be played by everyone. If you have the time and the money there is no reason to not play Xenogears.
 
I managed to get a copy last month for 45 euros, so Im happy. Although sometimes the controls bug me and the whole running jump pisses me off no end. I can see why some people love it. Its a great game so far. About 6 hours into it, just met Bartholomew and Im currently stuck in a cave with him XD
 
I hate that I missed out on this game when I was younger. I've played the whole Xenosaga series and it is one of my favorite RPGs, but have never been able to play Xenogears because they're so damn expensive D:
 
Is a 1998 Playstation game released by then Squaresoft, now Square Enix. It's a science fiction RPG starring Fei Wong as the protagonist. This is a great game and I loved playing it.

I loved this game, this was one of my favorite games for Playstation. I always wondered why there was never a sequel. It's never too late either.

Has anyone ever played this game? If so, what did you think? Would you want a sequel? If you haven't, I totally recommend it.

I didn't make it very far in this game, but I loved the time I spent playing it. The battle system was pretty interesting, and the music was top notch. I know there are other Xeno... games out there, but I'm guessing those aren't sequels?
 
I've never played it but am interested in it. Do you reckon it would be playable now? like how are the graphics for a game that old? (are they like FFVII or IX?)

Xenogears, my bane of my PS existence. The only game that has more depth on the original console that I knew what to deal with. I still have a tatoo on my back from a symbol in the game.

I'd say it's playable now, I'm not sure it's in the Playstation Store, or if anybody has a decent copy lying around. You could try using an PS Emulator, but I've heard those are illegal :(
The graphics weren't so bad, I'd say it was slightly better than VII, which isn't too bad.
 
This game is pretty awesome. I'll be honest and say that I'm pretty sure I missed out on like half the themes, symbols, whatever that the developers threw in this game, and I could simply tell that there were huge ideas that the designers were throwing around that I was just missing during my first playthrough.

I would have played it again if my friend didn't lose the first disk. :/ Now I'm in college and have no PS2, and I will live in eternal confusion as to the true meaning of Xenogears for the rest of my life.

Anyway, as long as you can stomach first gen ps1 graphics, this game is better than any game in the ff series imo.
 
I'm usually fine with PSOne graphics so long as I can understand whats going on :)
Might see if I can pick this up on ebay, this thread has intrigued me!
 
First off: why is this in the FF section? :wacky:

Second: I really, really...REALLY wanna play this. Everyone I know whose played it has told me nothing but good things about it, so I'm really swayed to check it out.

Unfortunately, ebay gougers sell this game for ridiculous amounts do to it's rarity/no longer in production, so it seems a no go.

However S-E apparently has plans to release this to the NA PSN, so I hope it's just a matter of time before I could check it out >.<

I actually found a couple of Xenogear copies on ebay for about $17 - $30 they're bidding only but the don't have long to go so hopefully their prices will stay down :D
 
I tried to find a decent price online for Xenogears, seems to be none :(

I remember playing this in a demo with a FFVIII scene and another Squaresoft game. I loved fighthing, trying to figure out as much combos as I can. Oh wait!!! I think I got this game on my other computer at home!! I can't wait till break time!!

I have. The ending was rather weird, tbh. The final battle was a pain as well. Four subbosses before the actual final boss. :ffs:

Granted they were optional but the boss is really hard if you don't fight them since they grant him special powers.
 
So this can be used as a general Xenosaga thread too?

In regards to Xenogears though, have people here heard about the orchestrated album?

It's beautiful. And speaking of beautiful, the same woman did a wonderful song for Xenosaga Episode 1.

That is probably my favorite JRPG vocal song ever. Maybe it's not the best but I adore it so completely.

I got to the very last dungeon and couldn't find my way through it. It was a maze. I didn't have Internet at that time so I could look up an FAQ. It still sits on my Memory Card though. Hmm, maybe I'll get my hands on it and beat it real quick.
