Would Jesus Approve of the FF series?

The Honeybee Inn in the Wall Market area of Midgar in FFVII has a bee-themed brothel, so yeah there are prostitutes in FFVII.

Oh, but I mean you couldn't run over them, or have sex with them or anything. They were just sort of hinted at. Of course, if Jesus is anything like me, he would smit all copies of FF7 from existence anyway.:awesome: Then we wouldn't have to worry about that at all.

The FF series is kind of like a fantasy version of Grand theft auto, only people dont bleed as much and you cant attack anyone you want...Im sure Jesus would agree with that part...

People are saying that it's a videogame and that Jesus had more important things to worry about. If Jesus came back right now and judged the FF series his probs from dying( which he supposedly came back to life so I doubt it was that big of a prob) would not matter because I am talking about now. Not 2000 years in the past where a tv monitor was just a fantasy...haha fantasy ref.

But anyways FF upholds certain morals but it definetly has alot of things in it that is so hilariously sinful...the character named SIN....nuff said....Oh! wait! not nuff said!

Since the characters in X went against the religion, does that mean that the characters are athiests....All ff characters dont pray for help when things get really bad or before a life or death battle so... And there are Pagan and Hindu gods! Idk is there is a difference but Im learning about Hinduism and Shiva and Quetzacotl is in there sumwheres!

And why would Jesus smit all copies of FF7?

Quetzacoatl is an Aztec god.

Shiva is a Hindu god, but there is little really linking Shiva the god to Shiva the ice goddess of the FF series. There is little simularity and it isn't explained very well. Some theories suggest the naming was a mistake that stuck, or was simply named Shiva as it sounded exotic but also could be pronounced Shiver if you wanted to. I don't know though.

But yeah, gods and demons from other religions appear in the games in general, and Mr. J.H.C might kick up a fuss about that.

As for the FFX fighting against the religion = athiesm, I don't believe that Jesus Christ would see it like that as as far as he would be concerned the Yevon religion would be false, and it's worshippers would be pagan non-believers. He probably wouldn't care if it was dismantled.

Because if he was like me at all, he would hate it terribly.

Thinking about it more, I don't know if it'd be happy or not. It'd depend on if he's as conservative as he sometimes seems. I mean, Tifa and Lulu are exactly women that the Bible would look kindly at. The whole revealing clothing thing, and the fact that one is a witch. I don't think he'd care for it too much now.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this since I didn't read through the entire topic, but in FFXI there is the goddess Altana that the people worship. Jesus certainly wouldn't like people worshipping other gods.

I may be wrong, but I've never thought of God as being like a mean, stern principal who looks down to make sure no one is having any fun and ready to send them to detention or worse if they are...
I asked a good Christian friend of mine about video games, not just ff, and he said as long as it's not taking time away from other things I need to do. Knowing me, I probably do need to be careful 'cuz I just about get addicted...
Of course, I think people can also get addicted to cigarettes, whiskey, etc. etc. I know video games have broken up dating relationships, and probably even marriage (just as I think sports have, too, esp. football). So I guess the moral of this, boys and girls, is just be careful.
As an aside, personally I feel convicted about summoning Ifrit because he is so obviously demonic. I don't so much mind Shiva or Golem or some of those...although once in FF XII I did summon Ifrit to defeat the bad guy (the part of the game where Fran goes beserk) 'cuz I didn't want to have game over time after time after time...then I asked Jesus to forgive me for summoning the [censored] [censored]
to end on a lighter note:
3. you summon espers into battle without even considering if it's a good time for the esper to be summoned. The reason their attacks are so brutal is because they are pissed from being interupted!!!
rofllollollolrofl

I doubt Jesus would approve us attacking small animals in a forest just to steal their money...perhaps he would allow Final Fantasy XII since there's no money involved and you attack animals/monsters to obtain their skin and stuff like that, like hunters did.

Jesus killed fishies and fed them to hundreds of peoples with some loaves of bread...or was that Moses?-> (according to the bible)... Fishies are small animals!!!! Maybe he wouldn't want us to MUG them, he wants us to multiply them and FEED them to a bunch o Hebrews...I think the bible said he magically multiplied them or sumthin...:gasp: Hey! That fits in with FF!

A better question would be, would it really freaking matter if Jesus approves? I highly doubt Jesus is going to damn anyone to hell for means of entertainment. (If that were the case, I laugh at all FF VII fans for their descension to hell over a shoddy game and franchise.) I don't even think you go to hell for actions. It's basically just as clear-cut as being genuinely changed by your belief in Jesus.

So I don't even think you can go to hell for loving GTA or Mortal Kombat. (But Maybe FF VII.)

Um.....I'm just sayin he might not approve of the games content. Im not sayin that he's gonna send people to hell for playing a game! That's not good thinkiing at all! I'm just staing that some of the content may be inapropriate and that If Jesus just randomly decides to say "Hey I'm gonna go to Earth and play some video games" that he may not approve of the FF seires....when did we start talkin about sending peeps to hell?

If Jesus was that picky about the things people see and experience, he wouldn't have witnessed to prostitutes and homeless people, would he? My point is, the subject material in these games are mostly parts of life. If anything, I think he would encourage to see from as many perspectives as possible and discuss it.

Thank you, I like that thinking...for myself (and speaking only for myself) my main concern is how much time I can spend on the Playstation, mainly with Fin Fan, but also with other RPG's (Xenosaga) and other games (Ace Combat)

Jesus won't send anyone to hell for their actions, interests, beliefs...anything like that. You go to hell by disbelieving in Him, and that's the only thing that can send you to hell. As long as you believe, everything is okay.

With that said, not everything is beneficial to your walk with Christ, so if something is hindering it, like Final Fantasy, then Final Fantasy would be bad for you. However, if Final Fantasy isn't interfering with your walk, then it isn't bad for you and you don't need to stop playing. Make sense?

Makes perfect sense to me...I really enjoyed all the FF's, even though the FF I, FF II and FF III were a little ???, but hey, FF was in its infancy, so I sure would give it a break. I still try not to summon Ifrit, though...because I do believe demons can be summoned and I want to stay away from even an appearance of that.
God and the holy angels cannot be summoned. I guess it'l like honest cops and crooked cops...the honest ones cannot be bribed...
Man who'd have thought there would be discussions this deep on a video game forum? Shoot, I think the people here (a lot of them) have more courtesy than some of the political forums I've lurked in, the names of which I shall withhold...:kelly:

Couldn't care less.

I'm my own man, no shoves their beatstick up my ass and tells me what to do. :neomon:

I actually find this topic to be quite odd though, considering how many FFs (if not all) have a cast of characters who overcome everything and pave their own paths without the help of any Gods, and even then, would strike down these Gods who would not let humanity live freely.

Just seems a little ironic to me.

Hmm...

To be honest I think this would be the last thing on his mind if he were still alive.

I don't think he'd really care too much for it unless it was the main source of us being corrupted. XD

But yeah I'm not saying he wouldn't approve or whatever. My opinion is that if he did see it, that he wouldn't understand it at all. >.<

God and the holy angels cannot be summoned.

But what if you were fighting an ice type monster and Ifrit was all you had D:, I know it's off topic but still! Anyways, why do people automatically assume Jesus will strike you to hell? Why does hell keep showing up? gah! I'm talkin bout Jesus man! meh I'm off to post anotha topic...

Oh, I suppose I might summon Ifrit because I mentioned before I hate getting game over. Also, those of us who have played FF VIII, if I remember correctly, the first boss battle in that game is a battle with Ifrit. I consider my brother a good Christian and he's fond of the Harry Potter series (the books more than the movies) and I think that has more occult stuff than FF! I hope you don't totally abandon this forum, OliverSKX, but if you do, one you might like is under Final Fantasy Fun, "You know you've played too much final fantasy when..." But there are so many forums and threads in this site I don't see how anyone could get bored, and I guess you're right, if you get fed up with one, just go to another! Lots of fish in the sea as it were, and I'm actually learning from some of these posts too, will wonders never cease.:awesome:

There is absolutely nothing about these games that Jesus would condemn. He may say "oh man that guy is bad", but thats the same thing everyone says. It's a game it's for entertainment and I highly doubt he would care at all about any content that's showed up in any of them including X.

It's just a video game. Thinking he wouldn't approve of something fictional that is just a story is kind of strange. That would mean he would have to disprove of any movie above the G rating and almost every fictional book that doesn''t have pictures and even most of the ones that do.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this since I didn't read through the entire topic, but in FFXI there is the goddess Altana that the people worship. Jesus certainly wouldn't like people worshipping other gods.

Actually I really doubt he would care what fictional characters do. I mean this line of thinking is basically crazy.

This entire topic is pretty insane actually. Jesus is not going to care what fake characters do. It's not like the people playing the game are committing these acts. The only way he would care about it is if he played it and even then only in the same way that we all do.
