What was the worst illness you ever had?

When I was in 3rd grade I had a very strange virus. Bumps appeared on my hand and I had a fever of about 106 (not an exaggeration). I think I was off school for five days. After I got better I have had trouble speaking ever since.

The worst illness I ever had was on my first birthday. I had the croup or something.
So I had to go to the hospital. On my first birthday. That sucks...
But I didn't remember it anyway. I also had a fever of about 106, and almost died. You almost didn't have me here, but see how lucky you are people of FFF? XD

I was in first grade, and I got this huge chain of fevers, but the fevers were on the inside of my body, so a thermometer couldn't exactly measure it. This is how I got a seizure when I was three. So my parents had to keep me cool and control the fever otherwise I would fall into a seizure. They stayed up some nights, my mom didn't go to work, etc. Ugh, I hated the feeling. I was throwing up, I felt so FREEZING cold that my teeth were chattering when it was actually pretty warm in my house, and I just hated it. :/

Pneumonia. As an asthmatic, it made having the illness even worse. I remember being in extreme pain as I was trying to breathe. I had to take Vicodin because the pain was so bad. It scared me. I think I went to the ER, too.

Another one I had was a UTI (urinary tract infection--HEY, it's common in women and I don't know how I got it), but it had flu-like symptoms so I wasn't sure what it was at first. I got so sick that I was puking, had a fever, was sore as hell all over my body and it had gone into my kidneys (which felt like they had been punched repeatedly). I had to go on an antibiotic for a week. Luckily, I got better, but it was the most miserable thing. I couldn't sleep I was so sick. I would just manage to crawl/run out of bed and make it to the toilet to puke. This happened a couple times, so I didn't get any sleep for about two days.

I'm not totally sure which was worse, but I'll throw down 2 things I got.

The first I got was Chicken Pox, which I got when I was 5 years old. I just remember being really itchy from that. I vaguely recall this overall though because it was so long ago. I do have a scar on my forehead from scratching one of them though. :lew:

More recently, when I was in 10th grade, I got a stomach virus for a weekend. I vomitted so much, I actually pulled a muscle in my stomach from the contractions. That was not a pleasant memory. It was such an awful feeling, and I basically had to stay malnourished as everything I ate came back up. :hmph:

This was mine too, actually. When I was 2 I almost died when I got a UTI from swimming in a dirty pool at a friend's house. I don't remember all the details, but somehow I got pseudomonas, and when they gave me the antibiotic for it, I had such a bad allergic reaction to the medicine that I almost died O_O Glad I don't remember anything about the experience; however, a few years back I got another UTI from swimming in the ocean and tried to cure it myself by drinking a crapload of cranberry juice. Then just when I thought it had gone away, I woke up at 5am one morning feeling like someone had hit me across the back with a crowbar, and had to go to the hospital--it had apparently spread to my kidneys and festered there for so long that I had to be on an IV drip for 4 hours just to give the medicine a head start on killing the infection :gonk: It really sucked, though I do have fond memories of staying in bed for a week playing FFXII and eating pizza as I took the medication to finish getting over it XD

Probably the gastritis/ulcer/virus I had all at once last month

It was wellllll grim, and not beingable to drink for a whole month stank

The dengue fever. I think the cause of the whole shenanigan was a mosquito bite during our "clean up program" near a dirty river. I was so afraid that time and I thought I was gonna die (dengue fever leads to death if not treated right away). Obviously, I overreacted and I didn't even spew blood (signs of severe infection). I was sent to the hospital right away as soon as the fever struck.

Er... probably getting mono and then stomach problems on top of that last year. From late January 'til mid May I was out of school, and I spent sooooo much time sleeping. My spleen was swollen from the mono, so it hurt if I moved wrong, and with the stomach problems, which started after the mono had started to go away, I couldn't eat much or it came back up. It was very... unfun, and I spent nearly four months in bed, other than when I was going to the hospital for check-ups and stuff.

pyloric stenosis, when I was a baby, witch I guess it doesn't count because it was something wrong with my body, and not an illness

and im pretty sure I got Pneumonia shortly after I left the hospital when I was born

but after I had the surgery ive been healthy... besides once in the second grade I got a fever in the middle of summer school and felt sick, and the teacher wouldn't send me home. (haha she got in trouble)
I dont remember exactly what was wrong with me, but I dont recall going to the doctor... I just remember I slept on the couch for like two weeks and had a really high fever, and I got allot of blisters on the roof of my mouth that I can still feel. lol
I guess it was pretty bad though, because my sister told me once that my mom and dad used to sit next to me while I was sleeping allot and worry.

but after that ive been fine. I wash my hands allot, so I never get worse than a bad cold, and I haven't thrown up in like 10 years, and before that, I hadn't thrown up since I was a baby

It's a toss up between chicken pox 10 years ago, and the brain abscess two years ago. Hard to say which was worse.

Chicken pox resulted in: Missing a week of summer vacation sort of.

Brain abscess resulted in: Limited use of right hand and arm, frequent seizures without medicine (which I'll be on the rest of my life), unable to feel texture, temperature, or really anything in my arm/hand from elbow downwards.

Oh, and I'm serious, I don't know which was worse. Personally, not feeling anything in my hand, and having seizures doesn't really affect my life in the slightest.

Probably pneumonia. It's not as life-threatening as some diseases, of course (unless your immune system's very weak), but, so far, it's the only major illness I've acquired.

I'm not a weak and sickly person, I actually never had a serious fever. But probably the worst illness I had, was Chicken pox. I was in high school back then and I remember being absent for more than 2 weeks because of those little dark circles all over my body :gasp: It's kinda gross actually. I also had a mild fever that time. Now I have a scar beside my nose because of it but it's almost gone.

Asthma attacks every year. I hated those as they would last for at least a week and I'd have to get all these medicines and stuff just to keep my sinuses and throat clear. There were times when breathing would be incredibly difficult and that I'd probably die or something if I somehow fell asleep, but thankfully that didn't happen, did it?

Those days are past me now. Maybe if I lived back in Manila again it would act up, but the cleaner airs of California has cured it for good. :griin:

Back when I was in the 4th grade, I got a huge fucking stomach virus that landed me in the hospital for a week. I couldn't hold down anything, not even water. In that one week, I threw up so much that I lost around 15 pounds. It fucking sucked, but thankfully I never got anything as bad as that ever again.

However, later, I would get an ear infection that left me deaf in my left ear for 4 months. It sucked balls, but they put me on vicodin, and as a kid, it was amazing. :ryan:

I think it would have been the Chicken Pox when I was a kid and then just two years ago I had the worst ear infection ever. =/

I got the same ear infection last year as well. It was so painful to the stage that it made my entire left side of my face ache. I had a constant headache, my jaw ached. The glands down my neck were swollen and I just couldn't concentrate at work. Though I still went because I'm not one to stay home for anything really.

I was fine between the age of 6 and 18. Nothing major.

I didn't get the ear infection this year thankfully, though it did ache a little.

Can't say I've ever had anything life threatening though.

The worst illness I had in my life was a antibiotic-resistant pneumonia around the age of 4. I don't remember it, but my parents told me I almost died from it. My immunity system was very weak and I ended up at the hospital for a couple of days.

I'm also schizophrenic and it's an incurable mental illness but my medication is very effective.

Aside of that, I had a lot of severe ear infections when I was young and they were very painful.

ive always had a strong immune system so ive never really gotten terribly sick. I havent had a cold or fever in 2 years. But my worst was probably the chicken pox in 2nd grade.

The worst illness I had was a stomach flu. I went to Myrtle Beach and while I was there I ate some nasty food. My parent told me to eat it and for the next 2 days we were there I practically threw up everywhere. I even threw up in the ocean. At least it wasn't chunky then because most of the times I threw up then I was really chunky.
