Which is the best name and the worst?

Why??

I like all the names to be honest. Rinoa and Selphie are my favs because they are just amazing names. Bad ... I'd say Ellone as to me its tad bit boring lol.
 
When i first played the game, i thought Squall was the weirdest sounding name. But not so much now. But the worst.....id say rajin and fuijin (not even sure if i spelled them right lol). Also the summon GF Queszzstol, i know i didnt spell that right. Its the lightning GF. For the best, i think, is Zell.
 
I like Selphies best it's just cute. Infact I like most of them really

Squalls i always thought was abit weird, didn't think it was particularily shit but.....yeah

Quezacotl is most definately the stupidest though >_>

And I still have no idea how you say Rujiin & faijin.....or spell them OR remeber which is which, so tyhat makes those dumb names too xD
 
I thought they were al weird. But Squall's name started to fit more when I learned about Raine and Laguna..
FF games usually have names that have meaning. I would never call my son after a type of weather though.
 
Well the lightning GF had a fitting name due to a few simple facts: Quetzalcoatl was the ancient Aztec god of sky and creation, and it was a combination of a bird and a snake (similar to how GF Quetzalcoatl looks...) so that's why the name couldn't be different.

I think the worst name could be possibly Ultimacia. Simply not astonishing or impressive as earlier games and added to the fact that we barely get to know who she is until the far in the END :stare:
 
I'd say Squalls the coolest name

Worst is eith Fujin/Rajin or Ultimecia...coz they sounds fucked up
 
Hah, definitely Quezacotl. I always pronounced his name "Kweh-za-colty".

But I think they're all pretty unique names, and I liked that. I especially adore 'Rinoa' and 'Selphy'. Oh and Seifer! I named our dog after him.

At first I thought Squall was a weird name but I got used to it and it doesn't bother me now at all.
 
I always thought Seifer and Ellone were cool names. As for the worst....I dunno I'm not too fond of Irvine. I dunno why lol

I like the names Biggs and Wedge. Why those two names were chosen, I don't know. But they sound funny when you say them together, like Poto and Froto, or "Fag bag". XD

My least favourite name is Ultimecia. It seems so... lame. :P They couldn't have named her after some Greek Goddess, or something with a back story similar to hers, or something like that. :P

I liked Biggs and Wedge too, but they're taken from Star Wars! But i liked it how every time you beat them they got demoted! :P

Quezacotl I like cos it was unique, but I pronounce it Kwez-a-cot-al ^_^

But I quite liked Laguna for a name, just sorta looks nice, and I liked it when the moomba's are calling you it when you get to the Shuumi village.

Fuijin and Raijin were a bit poop it has to be said.

Quite right.

I don't think people can complain at the naming of this GF. They just wanted a break from Ramuh and so picked the Aztec god. I actually found the break refreshing, and it got me into looking up more about Quetzacotl (has multiple spellings, not sure if that is even one of them anymore).

I like the mythological routes they go with many of the summons. Would have been silly if they called it something like Thunder-Bird! Or Lightning Sparrow! Also, as Prometheus has said they got the bird-serpentine appearance of that GF quite well.

I'm not too sure about any names I like or dislike.. I guess I didn't find many names in this game particulary striking. Wedge and Biggs I don't consider FF8 characters, they are recurring characters, a tradition started by FF6. They do however play a rather funny role in this game, but since it is the names we are talking about, I don't think we should credit them as an FF8 exclusive.

I guess I always liked the names Zell, Laguna, Kiros, Ward and Edea. All of those were pretty kool.

Names I dislike.. Well I don't know. I guess when I first heard the name Rinoa I expected her to be half human half rhino or something (I was young). It took a while to lose that image, even though it is just a name. Have no problem with the name realy though.

Everytime I see a Renault Laguna drive by, I think about Final Fantasy.
I can't help it.
My brother, sister and I used to call that car the Rinoa Laguna.
It made me laugh when I was younger.
 
Hmm, I do like all of the names in the Final Fantasy series. I think they're all cool. But if I had to pick the best from VIII I'd say ... I do like Squall - it's pretty cool. Rinoa's a nice "pretty" name. Ah, I'm not so fond of the name Quistis - it doesn't sound very nice :confused:
 
Squall and Rinoa are my favourites; although I must say I do like Quistis and Zell (Quistis moreso).
Worst is probably Wedge, for the simple fact it sounds meh...but an ugly meh.

My favorite name from VIII would have to be Raine. It's quite lovely in my opinion. Second favorite would have to be Rinoa, which is also pretty.

As for the worst, I'm going to have to say Quistis, which has to be one of the ugliest names I've ever heard >_> Only other names I never was really fond of are Zell and Irvine.

And stupid me just now for the first time caught the weather reference in Raine :monster: I feel stupid now since that is extremely obvious <_<
 
I loved Rinoa and Raine's names. They're so pretty and elegant sounding. I also like Squall's name. It's so unique and it fits his character as well. Zell was kind of an odd name, but not so odd that I hate it or anything.

Now the garden master NORG, that was a messed up name if you ask me! lol And Quezacotl. That sounds so odd just saying it outloud. Anyway, I'd have to say my favorite names were definitely Rinoa, Raine oh and Ellone! I like her name. For the guys I'd say Squall and Siefer. Laguna is a pretty odd sounding name as well, but the worst would have to be NORG.
 
Out of the main characters, I'd say Squall was my favorite name by far. As for my least favorite name, I guess it would be Quistis, it just sounds shit to me.
