I don't really want it going next-gen, it's just going to make the already horribly lengthy process of developing the game even more unbearable. It could also ruin the game's quality because its going to be a half-meshed product.
I hope I am wrong, but we waited for XIII for a long time as well (granted, not as long) and when it came out it was an utter disappointment. I think that we will relive the same story with FFVSXIII.
I think this is a problem with Versus. I think they (Square) want to make it something so good, that they're spending so much time talking about it, planning it, and not making it. The longer they wait, the more pressure is put on them, and the more they want to get it right. So they're back to square one, planning and talking and nothing getting done. I think it might well be true that they're waiting for the next gen, because I think at this point there is so much exectation with this game, that the developers will be very scared to get it wrong.
I highly doubt that because Nomura seems so eagered to reveal more. And the ideas he gabe are really good. They dont even seem fazed. If they were trully fazed they wouldve stopped with XIII
But that's the thing, they're not revealing more. They haven't revealed more about Versus in ages, hence why I think it's because they can't make up their minds about aspects of the game and keep setting themselves back because they want to make sure it's not a flop. They couldn't stop with XIII because they had Versus planned and hyped before XIII had bombed.
Nomura has been "wanting" to reveal more, but he "can't". as in he's not allowed.
and i'm saying if they were pressured, then it's only because XIII was poorly received. i'm talking XIII as a series, not a single game, no one can stop a game's developement without knowing how it iwll do. and yes they hyped it up.
Yes, that's kind of what I was saying, that they are under pressure to get Versus right, because their recent games haven't been recieved well and they want Versus to be good to make up for it. The problem if that because it's been so hyped, the expectations are worse than they would normally been. Just because he says he wants to reveal more, doesn't mean he's able to, if they are still making decisions and trying to make the game better, he wouldn't be able to reveal anything more yet.
then why make Lightning Returns?
and i just repeated what i said but interpreted differently.
Well I think they were always planning to make XIII into a trilogy (the main XIII that is). But that's a different issue. I think the reason why we are waiting so long for Versus is because they can't make up their minds about it, because they don't want it to fail, and with the hype around it it's more likely to.
read more information on LR and it becomes more clear it wasn't really planned.
i doubt they avne't made up their minds. What has been revealed is alread a solid looking game, what many people want is just how far along is coming.

Final fantasy xiii-2 and Lightning returns is what happened. I dont think "change" is the wording i would use. More like "expand"What has been revealed is years old though. If they'd made up their minds then we would have had the game by now. What have they been doing to it if they haven't been changing things?
