I'm hoping it's okay to have a thread on this specific topic...Sorry if it should be in the general Skyrim thread. :hmmm:

I was just wondering, has anyone found that the voices in Skyrim seem familiar?

There's one actor in particular who some of you may recognise. Jim Cummings! He's voiced a lot of Disney characters, one being Monty from Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers (who was the first character I thought of when I heard the voice).

Cummings also voices:

  • Ed in the Lion King
  • Steel in Balto (Oh my gosh, yes I can see that! :x3:)
  • Winnie the Pooh and Tigger
  • He sings Rasputin's songs in Anastasia (Haha! :lew:)
  • King James in Pocahontas 2
  • Ray in The Princess and the Frog
And many more; here's a link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Cummings

So, the main topic/s in this thread would be:

  • Did you notice who these voices were and/or liken them to any characters?
  • How do you feel about having familiar voice actors? Does it distract you, or does it make the game even better? :)

Jason Marsden and Jim Cummings were the two that stood out to me :wacky: I was like, "Why on Earth is Tigger begging me not to kill him? :gasp:" then I looked it up and there he was :lew: Jason Marsden I just recognize in general. He played Max in the Goofy movies and currently he's voice acting Noel in FFXIII-2.

Oh gosh, is he the voice of the bard who keeps trying to seduce that women in Whiterun? I think his name was Michael or something...

That's kinda cool! :lew: I love finding these connections. :) It's like a sub-adventure - uncover who that voice reminds you of!

some of them sounded familiar i guess, but i did not specifically recognize them

not so much as familiar, but the voice of the dog Barbos and Covious Vile(the vampire dude) were really great. They were kind of a british accent, and I just love the way they sounded ^_^

But yes, I have noticed that Jason Marsden has voiced quite a few minor characters here. :lew:

One voice in particular that I thought sounded familiar from Skyrim was Proventus Alvenicci's voice. I thought it sounded an awful lot like Guy Cihi's, who does the voice for James Sunderland in Silent Hill 2. However, it wasn't, which I had my doubts about, since Guy's only real voice acting role was for SH2. I guess he doesn't really do it much.
