Hey football/soccer fans. Most of you are surely interested in the Champions League the tournament with the best european teams. The first matches of the 1/8 finals are finished now.

So what teams are you supporting for in this tournament and which team will win the Champions League 2011. I´m supporting no team ofcourse I hope the german teams going to come up to the final matches but I think at the end Barcelona is the big winnerxD

Ohh and I hope here are no Valencia Fans...5 Minutes ago: Schalke vs Valencia finished..Schalke won 3:1

I'm supporting Manchester United but this year is too difficult for us to win C.L. 'cause we want Premier League more than C.L.

Honestly, I really don't care. I don't think Man Utd or Chelsea will win it, Spurs have done well but as soon as they get a massive team like Barcelona, Real Madrid etc., then I think they'll come undone over the two legs. In honesty I wouldn't mind a Barcelona/Madrid final since it's at Wembley, it'd be fantastic to watch here in England so long as the pitch doesn't crumble as per.

It seems hard to look past el classico at wembley. But Chelsea were very very good at one point, David Luiz is excellent, and if they can play like they did before, I could see them beating Madrid. I think it's very unlikely that Chelsea will suddenly come good again. I think Spurs not being able to defend is their real weakness, other than that they're fantastic, Bale, Lennon, Van der Vaart and most importantly Luka Modric. Manchester United look like a very ordinary team, although Vidic is a monster, and with Rio then their defence is great. Unfortunately they have no RB, the Da Silvas are too young and John O'Shea is terrible.

And Rio Ferdinand won't play this season. :( I think Spurs will crush Real Madrid at White Hart Lane.

For me, Rafael Da Silva is the best right back in Premier League. I agree about O'Shea and add Wes Brown.

I'm unsure about the Chelsea-Man Utd tie. If Chelsea can suddenly get Torres and Drogba on form, with Man Utd's current injuries I think they could cause massive problems for Man Utd in both legs.

I can't see past a Madrid win in both legs against Spurs. In Europe Madrid have become a far more balanced team under Mourinho and with the players they have in their squad, it'll be very difficult to beat them. Plus Mourinho has had a hell of a lot of experience in both European and English football so he'll know Spurs will try to play attacking football, problem is, when you've got Ronaldo, Kaka, Ozil etc on the opposite team you can't open yourself up the way Spurs would like.

I was hoping for an Arsenal v Spuds final. That would be the ultimate north London derby. My God I could only have imagined what would have insued if we had lost :ffs:

Chelsea look good but I think if Real make the final they'll win it, otherwise Barca for me, no one's really good enough to stop them.

This isn't really active is it......

Anyway Barcelona vs Man Utd in the finals, can't wait for it. I think we will win it, our form recently (excluding the game with man city) is amazing. Thrashing Schalke 4-1 (6-1 on aggregate)with an under-strength side was a suprise considering they beat inter milan and Valencia. However if you ask me I think Barcelona will be more wary of Man U then the other way round, not just because of the thrashing we gave them but we'll also be out for revenge........I love Messi as a player but hopefully Vidic or Rio snaps his legs, their a bunch of cheating cunts anyway, if they carry on with their baby-ness in the finals like they did against Real Madrid in the semis, I expect this to be a match of fury between the players.

Oh and fuck Rooney they better stop the guy below (Hernandez).

I'm hoping Barcelona thump Man Utd in the final, and I have to have them as favourites, they've been imperious so far this season and another European Cup would further cement their place as one of the greatest teams ever.

As for wanting someone to break Messi's leg, what a repellent thing to want. I don't think any team with Rooney in can talk when it comes to cheating anyway.

I think Nani is a bigger cheat than Rooney, but I do quite like Nani.

I think Barcelona will hammer them. Though I'll think they'll be kind and keep the score down, perhaps only two or three nil. I think Manchester United's problem in their commitment to playing stuff that is quite good to watch, they're not Barca or Arsenal but they do try to play that way. I think they'll try to keep it very tight without making it look like they're parking the bus. Considering Manchester United haven't been very good all season and Barca have been, I don't think they have much of a chance.
Although Wembley is supposed to be a pretty poor pitch, so that might help United.

Well, I can't believe how impressive Barcelona were. Actually, I feel quite blessed to have witnessed such an amazing performance. United weren't even that bad. They made a much more respectable account of themselves this time than in 2009.

I can't help but wonder about the decision not to start Nani though. He's been arguably their best player this season, and he starts with Valencia, who is good, sure, but he can't be 100% fit after so much time out, and he doesn't have as much big match experience as Nani. Then, the other bonehead decision was to have Michael Owen on the bench, and leave Berbatov out completely! I can't help but think there's something that we don't know about to explain that.

Finally, Hernandez was a complete spectator. The history books will show he has an assist for the United goal, but he was more or less absent last night. It's easy to do an autopsy like this after a game, and I'm not saying playing him was a mistake, because how do you drop someone in that kind of form?

Well done Barcelona. Best team I've ever seen.

Sad that Man Utd lost :sad3: but I'm not that surprised, if we had won it, they would of had to play really bad. It was a shame how Owen made the bench and not Berbatov :hmph: after all he is are top scorer, maybe ferguson didn't like his last performence too well (against Blackpool). And even though Hernandez did play shit, you can't really complain because everyone would've expected him to play considering his performence recently. Our midfield was pretty decent but up against Barcelona (Xavi and Iniesta), it's was nothing. In the first half we did do pretty well, especially considering we went down 1-0 because of Pedro. Going down 1-0 and trying to get back into the game seems like an impossible task against Barcelona, who just tease their opponents with the ball........But we did well to come back thanks to Rooney. Second half was where it was all lost.......Messi,Xavi,Iniesta and Villa were amazing......I mightve been watching on TV but their passing made even me go dizzy and sometimes I lost sight of where the ball was!......And after two amazing goals, I think it was pretty obvious we were out. It's a shame for Van Der Sar as well letting in 3 goals in his last match.

But well done to Barca they deserved it.

Maybe I am being a little too harsh, but Van Der Sar should have done better on the first two Barcelona goals. The David Villa goal was a lost cause, but I can't help but think someone like Reina would have gotten to them.

Robbiedbee yeah maybe but Messi's goal especially......It went in right through the middle of the net. Van Der Sar did say though Messi normally curls them right into the the corners that's why he was at one side. But still I think he deserves a goal for all his hard work, while watching the game I couldn't help but think he was bound to score at some point. He's now totalled Ruud Vanistelrooy goal record in the champions league of 11 goals.

Reina is pretty good, I dont know why Man Utd aren't intrested (we were last year)......But it looks like where getting De Gea to replace Edwin,I don't think he'll be anywhere as good though, considering Athletico's position in La Liga but we'll see.

Yeah, and Reina seems committed to us again. It looked up in the air a few months ago, but he'll likely stay.

As for Messi, yeah, he deserved the goal. One or two idiots I've seen on message boards elsewhere seem to think that he is praised a little too much, but I think he quite clearly deserves every ounce of credibility he gets. He's a frightening talent, it's a shame we don't get to watch him every weekend. I kinda miss Ronaldo in the Premiership for the same reason.

I'm glad he's not in the same league as Karl Henry or Joey Barton.
It's so rather unfair for Man utd, they had no 'world class' midfielders, Barca have three, and then they have Villa and Messi. Alves may as well be a midfielder. Gerard Pique had more successful passes than any utd player. Xavi is just far too good, almost 70% possession.

Intresting La liga players are also prone to cheating (especially barca). But the PL does lack having world class players, after this season I dont think you can call the likes of Lampard,Gerrard.Drogba,Torres as world class, especially Rooney :srsly:. But overall the PL is better, the la liga is just all about barca and madrid, in the PL its more unpredictable even playing teams in the relegation zone.

The standard of play in the Premier League is a lot worse, I like Wigan, but they are a terrible team. But Luka Modric is excellent, so are David Silva and Yaya Toure. If Barca and Madrid were in the Premier League, they'd probably be a massive gap between Madrid in second and Man Utd in third. I think English people are more obsessed with diving than anything else. English teams cheat just as much, Darren Fletcher commits cynical fouls and is lauded, but Busquets dives about and he is hated. They both cheat.

In 20 years nobody will be talking about the gamesmanship Barcelona occasionally engage in (and which is over-mentioned anyway, most people base that on the game against Real Madrid last month, which was just an ugly game all round), they'll just remember a great team. One of the best teams ever certainly, there is no one best team ever but they're surely a grade A side. And as mentioned plenty of English players cheat, but the media aren't so quick to mention that.

As for La Liga v Premier League, it's apples and oranges really. La Liga has an absurd gap between the top two and the rest at the moment, and the Premiership is very bunched up once you get past the top four, but the top four in the Premiership this year was dreadful, Chelsea and Arsenal had long periods where they barely won a game, yet the former still finished second. Man Utd won five away games all season and won the title! So I think at the moment both have their flaws. At least Spain doesn't have Stoke City playing there though.

I was discussing that with a friend of mine on Saturday. Barcelona have 3 of the top 5 players in the world (Messi, Xavi, Iniesta). If you extend it to the top 10, they probably have 5 (add in Puyol and Villa). Man Utd have maybe one of the top 10 with Vidic, but that's it.
