UEFA Champions League 2011

@ Böb Dylän True they both do cheat, but in the la liga the cheating and fouling is way more intense. And I disagree with you completely completely when you say Darren Fletcher is lauded for committing fouls no one appreciates that in the english game. It's the other way round, I watch the la liga as much as the PL and even though Busquetes is hated, but they are lauded by their own fans. But I agree with you on how the table would look with Barca at the top followed by madrid and Man utd.

Robbiedbee yeah the English game lacks world class players altogether.......after this season Vidic is probably the only one in the top ten.

After the world cup last season they did do a World XI and not a single PL player made it into the XI (even Vidic).

@DarkShadow I think a few years ago, there were many world class. Torres, Drogba, Ronaldo, Gerrard, Lampard, Tevez. Since then, all of these players have either moved on, or started their decline as players.

I think the Premiership has the most talent all the way through the division. La Liga is essentially two teams now, and not to take anything away from Messi and Ronaldo, but part of the reason they can run up such great stats is they've got some crap teams to beat up on. La Liga is worse than the damn SPL these days.

SPL you serious.....Though I can see some comparisions, SPL is all about Rangers and Celtic, this season the hatred between the two of them was probably worse than Real and Barca.

Robbiedbee The PL does have recognisable players right now but not world class as the moment. I think people can just regard them as greats (especially Lampard and Gerrard) there both starting to lose it. Overall based on quality of teams the Premiership is better but based on the best players in the world its La Liga.

A match between the best players in the league would be great: La Liga XI vs Premier League XI :gasp:.......But the La Liga's XI players are on a different level to the best of the PL's XI players.

That explains why so many teams have won the Premier League over the last decade or so. Oh no wait, only three have, and only two in the last six years. It's not exactly open here either.

@charliepanayi Yes true but if you look at the title races over the last few years, they've been really close......some even went right to the end of the wire. But in the PL it's not just a walk in the park every game, and unlike Barca and Real in the La Liga, in the PL your likely to lose a few games too.

Next season I'm sure 6 teams are going for the title: Man utd,Chelsea,Arsenal,Man City,Tottenham, and Liverpool......In the La Liga it's just Real and Barca. Valencia,Villareal and Athletice are more concerned in securing a Champions League spot

Barcelona and Real have only pulled away so much from the rest over the last two years. And yes there have been some close title races in recent years (though not many), all between the same two teams, Man Utd and Chelsea!

2008-2009 season it was Man Utd and Liverpool(or 2007-8 :hmmm:).......Still the other teams in the top six do provide a challenge to title challengers.

And also in the La Liga the only considerable chance of losing a game if your Barca or Real, are the el clasico matches between the two teams.

Urgh, I'll never forget that 08-09 season. We got 86 points and lost 2 games all season. I don't think we deserved to win the title though. We were so unbelievably lucky with last minute goals and stuff; United were the best team over the 38 games. Then, we lost Xabi Alonso, and it all went downhill from there. Xabi was our best (non-Stevie) player IMO.

Yeah that season was EPIC! You did pretty good losing only 2 games...Rewind back a few years big taems like Liverpool,Man Utd,Chelsea would finish the season losing only like 2,3 or 4 games - thats a rarity nowdays because of how PL teams have developed. And Liverpool should do better next season, I think maybe a top 4 spot should be quite easy for them......Since Kenny came you've been spending the cash a lot bringing in big signings and winning games recently, despite Torres's departure.

Oh and I'm a united fan :srsly:

Yeah, I'm hoping we'll be strong. I'm not 100% behind Carroll yet. He could be injury plagued and badly behaved off the field, and be a complete flop. Suarez will be amazing though, no question. I've seen enough to be sure that he's one of the best players in the division.

It looks like Fergie has insisted upon a bit of money to spend, because he never really saw any of that £80m from Ronaldo's sale. They desperately need it too, but the signings Fergie has lined up suggest that there won't be a problem next season. If Ashley Young does sign, he'll be great I think, getting at least 10 goals and 10 assists. Jones will be great one day, and De Gea should be good too, if not now, then in a year or two. If Nasri signs, then the 20th title should be a certainty...

Yeah bearing in mind, he is orginally from the Championship.Even though Caroll was doing good at the beginning of the season you're correct he could be flop bit like Berbatov who we should be getting rid of. Suarez is one definately to watch out for and Maxi Rodriguez who finished the season on a high.

And Ferguson did promise signings.in fact I expect most big teams to splash out big money this summer - especially with the likes of Arsenal,Man city,Chelsea,Tottenham as well who are relying on signing to finish in the top 4/ challenge for the title. I expect loads of new faces this summer.

As for Man U, Ashley Young looks like a certainty, I don't think we really needed him much considering we already have like 4 players who could all play on the wings (Nani,Giggs,Valencia and Park) who are top quality. De Gea looks a certainty as well with Sky Sports reporting he is going to sign a deal with Man U. But are problem is the attacking options in Midfield........Sneijder is impossible who just signed a new deal at Inter. But I am REALLY HOPING we can get Nasri he'd be the perfect replacement for Scholes and he'd be able to get goals from there as well. But despite him saying he would "consider it", I think it's unlikely they would sell him since Fabregas looks like he's going to Baraca and out of all places why would you want to sell one of your top player to your rival?

Well, I think Young is more of an all-round attacking threat. Valencia is more of a traditional winger, Giggs is more effective in the middle, and perhaps entering his final season. Young will be great as part of a front three with Rooney and Hernandez. I don't see him having the discipline to stay out wide as part of a 4-4-2.

Nasri would indeed be perfect, but like you I don't see it happening. I reckon, as you said, all the big guns will spend, and that might convince the likes of Fabregas and Nasri to stay. I think if Vermaelen was fit, and they had a real keeper, Arsenal would have been damn close to the title this year.

:hmmm:I still doubt Young would be playing as a second striker or anywhere central, I still see him playing on the wings in his preferred position. But overall our midfield is pretty all average in terms of quality, we just need it boosting with an attacking midfielder. Oh and I forgot Nasri is in his final year, so if they don't sell him this summer or during January next year and he's still reluctant on signing a new contract.......Then they risk losing him free. But if they do splash the cash and world class players decide to come to Arsenal, that could change his mind and he could stay. But it's still unlikely. And also we have signed Rob Jones from Blackburn a young defender worth 15 million I think as well as the addition of Ashley Young and De Gea. I highly doubt Fergie would sign another top-class player. But I still do think signing Ashley Young and Rob Jones may have been a little bit of waste of money considering we have players as good who can play in their postions.

Ashley Young = Giggs,Valencia,Park and Nani
Jones = Vidic,Ferdinand,Smalling and Johnny Evans
