We all have our favorite video game soundtracks. I'm curious to know what yours are.

Mine, in no particular order...(because that's just hard)...

1) Chrono Cross - Dreams Ashore

Instruments and all, this simply gives me the chills, and yet it's very calming. Actually all of Chrono Cross' soundtracks are exquisitely beautiful and words cannot express how I feel whenever I listen to the music. (Yep, first video game which I actually bought a CD for).

2) Lost Odyssey - Never-ending Journey

Title pretty much says it all. 1:40 = awesome. I really should finish this game. Oh, and Nobuo Uematsu contributed as well. I had no idea...

3) FFX Ending Theme

As much as I love To Zanarkand played by itself, the ending theme completes it for me. You'll hear a few different songs and different variations played, and I remember that when I completed the game, it was a poignant reminder of the best moments in FFX just rushing through all at once. Never gets old for me.

4) Skyrim - Main theme

Had to include it. Need I say more?

5) Chrono Cross - Time's Scar

Back to Chrono Cross again. This music is a piece of art...

I find myself humming to this tune a lot, actually...(except when the beat kicks it up a notch of course.)

There's a few other favorites, such as Uncharted and MGS2's main theme.

Just five?! :gasp2:

Well...in no particular order, asides from the first one, which is my absolute favourite...

Also note that I'm only including one track per game, otherwise it'd be an all-Xenoblade and NieR list. xD

1. The God-Slaying Sword [Xenoblade Chronicles]
Despite the fact that I love the NieR OST, I think that this theme is better than all of it. This is the best final boss theme AND the best vocal theme I've ever heard, all rolled into one. It sets the mood for the final confrontation perfectly; the haunting beginning as the battle begins and the world rushes around beneath your feet, opening up to a slightly faster pace as the battle starts, and whilst I had to drag the battle out to reach 3:17, it was a wonderful way to finish. Best game ever gets best final boss theme ever :yay:

2. Cold Steel Coffin [NieR]
Of course, something from NieR HAD to be in here and, whilst I could have easily had my entire top five as NieR OST, I figured I'd just pick my favourite. Whilst I fell in love with the game from Blu Bird alone, and I think Song of the Ancients and Ashes of Dreams in general are more powerful songs, this one in general sticks out in my head...because it's a village theme. This constantly made me feel like I was going to fall off the edge of the cliff and, considering how the Aerie ended up in the game, it's extremely ominous. A fantastic example of how vocal tracks should be used to set the right atmosphere.

3. A Mirror Reflecting Images [El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron]
An odd choice, perhaps. But I've grown to like this theme quite a bit; the vocals support the orchestra, and not the other way around. In a game which is dominated by a haunting choir to accompany the fantastic scenery, this change of pace was most welcome.

4. Ninth Chapter - In The Sky 2 [Drakengard]
The entire world has gone to hell. What does Drakengard do? Stick you up in the sky on the back of a dragon with THIS playing in the background. Inuart had gone insane trying to revive your dead sister - who, by the way, had a crush on you - and the ultimate ending along that route was...bizarre. And more than a little creepy. This remains one of the best organ themes I've heard in a game...and the occasional vocals really add to the drama.

5. EXEC_CHRONICLE_KEY/. [Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia]
I've always liked the unique vocals of the Ar Tonelico series, especially considering that the songs are actually integral to the plot, it's not just vocals for the sake of vocals. This one in particular I find quite relaxing~

Lets see this is gonna be so tough. I'll try posting the ones that stand out to me the most >.<

Chrono Cross - People imprisoned by destiny

To be honest the whole OST of Chrono Cross is fucking amazing. I love this theme a lot from the game because, well who didn't love hearing that song? The battle with this song is just so epic(and extremely fucking hard)! I guess this one stands out to me in the soundtrack because of it's emotion. And that scene where the game chrono trigger is referenced and the ghosts of chrono, marle, and that other chick who's name I can't remember is burned in my brain because of this song.

Final Fantasy Tactics - Requiem

Probably my favorite song of all of the FFTactics series. In my opinion this was the most beautifully put together song of the whole ost. The scene where it played was just so full of emotion and the song itself I think is somewhat a masterpiece. This song is what made me sort of feel for the game and actually made me care about the annoying Rafa and Malak story line.

Parasite Eve - Influence of the deep

Now THIS is one of my favorite battle themes ever. I love the Parasite eve ost as a whole but when I started the game and this shit came on my mind was blown. I swear I replay PE just to hear this shit in the first battle. I really wish SE could like remake this game with updated graphics and soundtrack. This would be one epic fucking track with an actual opera voice o__o.

Legend of Dragoon - Boss Battle 1

I really give my props to this game for it's soundtrack. It was really unique and I really liked it. This theme just brings me back to all of the battles. xD

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Companions that surpased their tribe

I actually liked the FFTactics Advance music a lot because it was really cheerful and happy! ^_^ A2s music wasn't nearly as good. I always really thought that this soundtrack was one of the better and most memorable tracks of the game! That particular link is to an orchestral version of the song. I personally just enjoy the FFTA soundtrack sounding that way :P

There's tons more songs on my list like the awesomeness of the JSRF ost. A majority of what I listen to is videogame music :P

Street Fighter - Guile's Theme

Timeless theme!

Final Fantasy 7 - Aerith's Theme

It uniquel & doesn't sound like anything else.

Legend of Zelda OSTs

I think Zelda and Tetris may be the 2 most recognizable video game themes on earth. That must count for something?

Zerg Theme from the 1st Starcraft Game

Its sinister and dark and so much better than the soundtracks from Starcraft 2. :ohshit:

Chrono Trigger OSTs

Yasanori Mitsuda is so awesome. The way he blends techno/electronica with classical & other types of music is too cool for words.

Here's my Top 5 Soundtrack Themes.

1. :: Dragonquest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King - Heavenly Flight

This piece is easily one of the best out there. It's a great soothing piece.

2. :: Final Fantasy XIII-2 - Recollections for/from the Future

FFXIII-2 is fairly new, but I got the OST and I must say, I am quite loving this theme. It's another great and brilliant soothing masterpiece.

3. :: Final Fantasy X - Battle Theme / Normal Battle

So far, this is the best BATTLE THEME I like from any FF game. It fits the whole situation perfectly, and it's a great tune to jam too. Even if not fighting anything.

4. :: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Sons of Skyrim (Main Theme)

I don't think I need an explanation for this, listen to it and be amazed.

5. :: Kingdom Hearts Series - Dearly Beloved (Menu Theme)

I love every variation and version of this theme. But nothing tops the original.
