As you probably know by now if you live in the USA the Thundercats have been resurrected on the Cartoon Network.
I was a big fan of the original series.I hope this remake is as good.
My question is are there any other cartoons made back in that era that you would like to see remade either on tv or in a movie ?

Some years back there was a rumor that a Thundarr the Barbarian movie would be made but it never materialized.

More recently there was talk that Toby McGuire would be making a Robotech movie where he would play Rick Hunter but that hasn't shown up as of yet and I wonder if it will ever be made.

So we'll see how good the Thundercats remake is and whether that will spawn other remakes of 70's cartoons.

A reboot of Voltron would be pretty cool.

As for Thundercats, I haven't watched it yet. The only cool fact I know is that Lionel's dad's voice is the voice actor of the original Lionel in the 70s series.

I used to watch Thunder Cats back in the late 90's early 00's on Cartoon Network. I never realized it was from the 70s. I thought 80s. I'm not too familur with other cartoons from the 70s unless they are Hannah Barbara.

There is already a new season remake of Voltron. Though it takes place after the time line the pilots are the same, with three rookie cadets. It's on Nicktoons channel or whatever. As well as a redone version of Ironman, this time it's told as Tony Stark being a teenage kid and such.

Another He-man series may not be bad, or something along the lines of reboot again would be nice.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking the same thing. I would be a bit hesitant about it only because most remakes of older series' don't do well. But hey, maybe good animators and voice actors could help ease that hesitant part of me. xD

Remakes of old cartoons are often hit-and-miss...the remake of Biker Mice From Mars was AWFUL, for example. The TMNT series weren't bad until that awful Fast Forward season, though...

I would love to see them actually finish the reboot of He-Man they started, though. That show was fantastic, and it ended at such a random point. There was supposed to be a third season, which they never made.

I can't be the only person who'd love to see Ghostbusters brought back, can I? I get the horrible feeling they'd mess it up, but it could be quite a funny show, if the right people made it...

What the hell?? Hoe does this shit get past me? Is it any good?

I would love to see Ghostbusters come back. Though I have a feeling that they would make the main characters kids and fill the show with useless comedy. The original show could be a bit dark at times.

If they make Egon, Peter and the gang kids, I riot... Ha.

I absolutely loved the original Ghostbusters cartoon when I was a lad. They actually had a sort of remake of Ghostbusters back in the 90's. Of course, since this was the 90's and everything was "Rad" and "Extreme" It was the Extreme Ghostbusters. It wasn't half bad, couldn't touch the original in my view, but it was serviceable.

Still, with Ghostbusters III supposedly coming out next year, it's very possible that they will remake it for a new generation. If they do, I'll be cautious yet optimistic. They better keep some of the darkness too, I mean these dudes are dealing with ghosts, demons and evil ghouls after all. Not unicorns and sunshine.

I wonder if they could put the orginal cartoon back on the air and it would do well? How dated to you think it is? I tried to watch Jem on the hub while on vacation and that show did not age well at all.

I actually think that it would do well. Other than the animation being a bit primitive compared to today's cartoons, the old Ghostbusters holds up much better than other animated shows from its era. It's very well written, smart for a kid's cartoon, and the stories are pretty much comedy/horror tales that are timeless. It doesn't have that whole "80's" stain to it that other cartoons like GI Joe have. (Personally I love the whole 80's feel, so that's just me!)

I don't think it's really that dated at all to be quite honest, AND if they just air the original, I know that I'd watch.

It looks cute. Never watched the original though. Yeah, if they remake Ghostbusters, it would be filled with half- done animation, fart jokes, and be extremely PC. :jtc:I disagree about most cartoon remakes being a hit and miss, I mean Scooby Doo's remake is going strong over here, and My Little Pony is having fans from four to forty. It's crazy !:thehell:

Technically, Thundercats is an 80s series, not a 70s one. The reboot is surprisingly good, that's all I'll tell you. I've been following it since the pilot and I really like it, and that's something coming from an original Thundercats fan. Also, I have to argue that for its time, the original show was thinking ahead, which is why the show is still watchable today.

I don't know any other worthy show that could be resurrected properly, with a possible exception of Voltron. As long as they don't do any CG rendering stuff and ruin it.

The original Ghostbusters show does get airtime in Europe and I can tell you it's one of those shows that's aged extremely well. Both the original and that sort of spiritual sequel they made.

I think a lot of 80's animation is better than todays. Today so much of the drawings look like something a second grader could have done. (Anything on Cartoon Network, any Disney channel animation.)

Oh, I'm with you on that. I will admit fully that I'm a fan of old school animation. One notable example comes to mind is the old Batman: The Animated Series. The animation in that is perfect, in my view. It's dark, it's classy and there's something about the look of it that I like more than the Batman cartoons that came afterward. So... long live the 80's! (and early 90's)

the 80's early ninties had the best kids shows

I loved Thundercats, I'l give this new one a watch if I can... I wouldn't mind a remake of Dungeons and Dragons, though I do think that stuff should just not be remade. cartoons at least, I think it would lose abit of the magic. Its a childhood memory and I prefer to keep it that way.. so maybe I wont watch it actually even if its the best thing on TV
