Hi there, just want to know, what are your most despised negative status ailments and maybe why you don't like them (could be a battle you lost cuz of that ailment or whatever). Here's a list of all the ones I can think of:

~Confuse
~Poison
~Darkness/Blind
~Silence
~Disease
~Berserk (questionable as an ailment I know, but can be positive or negative)
~Slow
~Stop
~Immobilise
~Doom
~Curse
~Sleep
~Petrify
~Zombie
~Disable
~Oil
~Sap
.
.
.

There are others, I just can't think of them.

My most hated ailment has to be Disease and Confuse, Disease being the mega bitch. I was fighting Zodiark for the first time, confident I was going to win (come on, level 80, how could I lose?) and when he was down to a tiny bit of HP (literally so small, I probably couldn't measure it with a ruler, and my TV is pretty big). Good news was, his physical paling was down at the time, and my Fran (with Excalibur) was charging an attack. Bad news? Balthier and Penelo were pretty much dead, my other characters were dead, everyone had Disease, Fran had 1/1 HP, and Zodiark had a no-charge-needed Scathe ready to slap me in the face. GAME OVER.

Oh, wow that sucks! I guess my most hated status ailments are confuse and zombie (pre-FFVII). You can pretty much cure every status ailment but confuse is the worst. Not all FF's have a way to cure or prevent this pesky status ailment. If an enemy manages to confuse all your characters (like Malboros usually do) it's pretty much game over. Having even just one character confused can do severe damage to your party. In early FF's, though, zombie takes the cake. It's like confuse and KO combined!!! You better have Holy Waters lying around.

Slow and Stop do my nut in. Especially when you're doing things like the Battle Arena in VII.

Confuse is also a bitch, I told Vincent in VII to cast Ultima.....then straight after he got confused before he attacked, so he ended up casting it on my party. xD

Things like that annoy me.

Slow or Stop though.....I hate being made to wait to do something. xD

Confuse. I -hate- it. Especially when I'm out of Remedies, my non-Confused characters have ~Touch weapons (Sleeptouch, Stonetouch) and if they whack them the person falls to sleep, then I have to switch weapons and whack them again before I get Confused.

Bikanel Desert in FFX = Suck. -__-

Confuse. I can not stand it. I always panic when one of my characters is confused especially in Final Fantasy VIII. I have had so much trouble with them using rare and good items in battle while confused. I just hate it! I've also had an almost game over from the confused character attacking my other characters. It's horrible and the most dreaded aliment for me!

I was going to say Confuse, but actually now I'm thinking Slow. In some games it's not easily curable, so while I'm sitting there waiting for my turn again the enemy has already gone twice and killed someone in the process.

I absolutely hate ailments. Especially in FFIX, it seemed that right when you are about to win the battle the monster will pull out an ability that stops you from getting exp/AP. I hated the fact that you could get an ailment that does that, especially when it was a good battle that was going to give you a plethora of exp/AP.

Confuse winds me up no end, I can cope with all the others but not that one, my entire party can get wiped out before my eyes sometimes, it always seems to be my main hitter aswel, and instead of wallopping himself he will work his way through my other guys before I have time to donk him on the head

In FFXII, Reverse is a contender for that title, how many times have I wiped myself out with fucking Cura...:ffs:

Easily confuse. Especially if you are not ready for it and it hits your whole party. The only saving grace there is they can hit another party member and un-confuse them. Everything else is fairly manageable, especially in later games when you don't need to lean on items as much.

The only thing that may eclipse it is zombie -- especially in FF5. Your party members attack you, and are impossible to kill. Ouch

Sometimes ailments can be helpful, though. Especially when fighting yunalesca and she casts Death or whatnot. If you're zombiefied it has no effect.

Same for Reverse, cast it on the members of your party and attacks from the enemy heal you :awesome:

Good point. The first time I fought Yunalesca, I had cured everyone of Zombie. Then the bitch goes into her final form and casts megadeath. I was so pissed.

I'm going to agree with most and say that confuse is the worst ailment, especially if it's cast on one of the stronger members of the party. There were also two in IX that really annoyed me. I can't remember the exact name but I think they were heat and freeze. Basically the monster cast the ailment and if the person made any movement, they would die. Those were so annoying, especially you had already input a command before the monster cast the spell. -__-

Confuse is the most annoying ailment ever, in my opinion. It pisses me off in every FF game I played, more than the other ailments. I hate the fact that my character cuts off the HP of his own mates, or worse, throw the enemy a very rare item such as X-Potion (yes, that hurts a lot more to me >_<).

Other ailments are terrible, but when I compare them with Confuse I think I can handle them with ease, such is my hatred for that bloody status effect. -__-

Stop and Petrify.

Stop was a serious bitch in the battle arena in FFVII :thehell: It kept my from Omnislash for a long time. It meant an automatic loss. And I don't think there were any items that prevented it :sad3:

Petrify: It was usually the one I could not cure. Didn't know untill lately that a gold needle was needed to cure it :thehell: I would have a petrified person all the way untill I found a tent or town.

Confuse by far. It has killed my entire party because the absolute worst character that could be confused got confused. It's one of the only status ailments that i will even bother to cure.

Also Zombie. I can't heal my characters that have it so this is another one that i feel the need to cure. However, zombie is nice to cast in random encounters because casting life afterwards is an instant win.

I'm going to say Petrify. Mainly because it's one of the only ones that completely stop you (other than death).
If you get poisoned for example you can still carry on to the end if you are confident you can complete the battle. But with petrify you may need that party member, so not only is the petrified member unable to attack, you also lose a turn on someone else to cure this.

Confuse would be a close 2nd place, nothing worse than nearly finishing off a hard opponent only to be killed by a party member.

Eh... confuse has never been that bad for me. For me it would be probably be most of the FFXII Ailments with Reverse and Disease being high on the list. Other honorable mentions would be the Blind+Berserk combo, Disable, Toad/Pig/Mini and Silence on my mage.

My most hated status ailment would have to be Disease. It's killed me, well, I don't even know how many times thus far in FFXII. Absolutely a horrible ailment.

Another one worth mentioning is Confuse. Especially in FFVIII when I had Squall doing ridiculous damage. I remember one time, Zell hit Quistis for about 9k. :ffs:

Slow is the one that irritates me the most. I'm impatient, and I don't like getting smacked around whilst waiting for my meter to slowly crawl back up to full...its frustrating just watching. Stop is aggravating as well, although I haven't come across that one as much.

Since playing The Last Remnant and coming across the game-breaking Curse status, I have found considerable tolerance for Final Fantasy games when it comes to status effects, however...

For me, it's the Sap/Poison/Disease combo. Toss that shit on a party member and they're dead in ten seconds. I accidentally used my last Remedy on Vaan when Fran had a Nihopaloa on, and everyone was out of MP. He died very quickly.
On the other hand, the Niho/Rem strategy can be quite useful on, say, Yazzy or Hell Wyrm.

I don't think I ever got hit with Disease in XII. What did that actually do? :hmmm:

The one in XII that pissed me off was Reverse, particularly when you're fighting Ultima. She'd hit you with Reverse and then cast a cure spell on you. :ffs:

It also became a pain since I had to turn off my healing gambits. -__-
