So we have the world/level hate thread. Which kind do you love?

I like snow levels. Yeah, ice can be a pain, but generally I like the way that they look.

I also like beach levels. They are always fun and relaxing to look at.

And in Mario 3, I like Big World, where everything is giant.

I like levels where you have to fight all enemies you've faced before, like in devil may cry 3 and 4 at mission 18 (dmc 3) and mission 19 (dmc 4) you had to fight all bosses, in 3 you at least had to fight 3 to open the door and the others were optional, but in 4 you had to fight the previous bosses.
Also in Uncharted 2 where all monsters come together around the final chapters is awesome.
In the legend of zelda games I find it awesome to go into the last dungeons and use all the techniques you've learnt in the previous dungeons. It makes it challenging and not predictable at what weapons you have to use

Besides water worlds, I usually like gimmick worlds. Fire, ice, giant etc. Something that makes it feel different from the others. That is one reason why I enjoyed SMB3 so much. Each world was something different. But if I had to choose just one, I think I would have to say Ice/Winter Worlds. Mostly because the background is so nice to look at.

I like castles. Dracula's Castle in numerous Castlevania games, for example, which have a bit of everything without the aggravation - i.e. an underwater stage without the stupid oxygen supply. In particular, the Clock Tower sections have always been my favourites - gears and jumping to and from those gears, medusa heads, and quite often Death or something equally troublesome to look forward to at the end as a boss. A catchy theme in the background, as well.

I LOVE Ice levels, as well. Phendrana Drifts in Metroid Prime, for example. That place was so beautiful, and it had a relaxing theme. The boss was epic, seeing Ridley flying overhead the first time I visited almost made my heart stop, and it also introduced the Space Pirates and Metroids as enemies. Everything picked up from that level. Diamond Dust Zone in Sonic 3D was one of my favourite levels as well.

Ahhh.. I remember Banjo-Kazooie and the worlds in it. They were awesome. I remember one world where there's 4 doors of the same land, but each a different season
now i want to play it again. damn u nostalgia! oh wait.. emu :awesome:

Zelda: OoT
The forest temple was f*cking amazing. I loved the theme music to

FFVII- Wall Market: It just had that neat 'cozy' feeling.

In general though, I like levels that have an over-whelming theme. Like in Metroid for example. It's not just a lava-pool, it's a hell-driven thermal energy warehouse with phucked enemies and liquid flame bursting in your face.. that all happens to be on a lava-pool.
I also like cemetery/haunted levels and anything aquatic, as long as it has nothing to do with Mario. Water levels suck in Mario.

I liked a lot of the locations in Tales of Vesperia. The developers did a sublime job of creating an anime-in-motion graphics kind of game.

But particularly? I'd have to say I liked Emhead Hill, Dahngrest, and Halure. The Sword Stair and the top level of Tarquaron were pretty cool too.

I totally agree with you on that on, another game I enjoyed was actually Final Fantasy I when you had to face the lords of earth and them all over again (lich and such)

Both of these. :lew: And as I stated in the hated levels thread, I've always had a fascination for water levels. For some reason they just tend to have a relaxing feel to them, usually because of the music.

I tend to like levels in games where it's dark outside. Being a night owl I guess makes me feel right at home when I'm playing on levels like that. Though Dark World in Mario 3 is annoying. :brooding: But otherwise, night levels are excellent most of the time. :ryan:

I like levels that take place in the sky. Perhaps it's why I play Ace Combat and other Flight Sim games.

Outside of that, I also like to play in Jungle and Ice Levels, my all time favorite of such levels were the Aquatic Ruin Zone from Sonic 2 and Ice Cap Zone from Sonic 3 respectively.

Town/city levels - they are usually a lot of fun.

Dungeon levels.

Forest levels - I like the mystery they usually have.

Snow levels - I like the stereotypical ones which are usually calm and serene.
