The Tale of the Forgotten - RP

Felldoh grinned, and drained his goblet. Pounding the table heartily, he got up and followed the man outside.

"Felldoh...I am ready," he heard the man call.

Felldoh positioned himself opposite to the man. As he drew his new swords, he secretly wished that he'd had his spears again. Maybe he could find a blacksmith nearby who could forge him a really good set of spears, ones that could be used at range and melee.

Wiping the thoughts from his mind, he looked straight at his foe, who was likely to become a new friend. "Alright, matey, let's see what you can do."

The insignia on his right sword glowed brightly again, and Felldoh's warrior spirit pulsed within him. He couldn't tell which was causing which, as he positioned himself into the same stance he'd been using before.

As Kaos was about to land his attack, Arthvader, despite the damage he has taken, has somehow managed to dodge Kaos's attack altogether. Arthvader then counterattacked with a kick to the face of Kaos, but just as he was about to deliver the kick, Julius has suddenly called for Kaos, thus ending the battle.

Just as the battle ended, the soldier that Julius has sent to heal Arthvader of his wounds began the treatment. As the soldier worked around the wounds, Arthvader started to wonder why Julius would do this for him.

Arthvader "Soldier, why did Julius wanted you to go heal me? Aren't we enemies?"

Soldier "It seems that Julius feels a little concern about you. I don't know the exact reason, you see. Just be glad that he has decided to have me heal you."

Arthvader "Ok, Then give *ouch* him my *ahh* gratitude. *ouch* that stings. Can you be more careful?"

Soldier "Sorry about that."

5 miniutes later

Soldier "There, that should do. need anything else?"

Arthvader "Nah, i'm ok. wow you did a nice job. Why don't you give him my thanks. I'm handle the rest from here."

Soldier "Ok, well, I guess the next time we meet, we'll be enemies again."

As the soldier left, Arthvader called his phoenix over to finish restoring his health.

'Man, I couldn't get a single hit on Kaos. Whenever I feel any better, I should train my self again to prepare for our next encounter.'

Arthvader "Thanks Phoenix, you may return."

As he called back his phoenix, something strange happened to him all of a sudden. The moment the phoenix returned, his body has started to collapse. Summoning the phoenix over and over for every occasion has finally begun to take effect. It doesn't matter how much the soldier healed him, or how much the phoenix did, Arthvader has begun to feel all the pain he has endured throughout all of his adventures.

'AAAAAHHHHH!!! What's going on. AaaGGGGGGGHHHHH!!! why now!!!'

He is in no condition what so ever to even move now.

Arthvader "pl..e.a..a.s..se....h.h.e.e.l..p.....m..m..m..e.e.e..."

And with those words, he has succumb to all of his pain and collapse on the spot, nearing death from every wound he has suffured during his entire life.

"Pathetic human!" He spat upon Arthvader as his blade removed an arm. Sure, Kaos broke something in his left leg, but he ignored it. "... I told you you would die. Nobody's aiding you. The people who have known you for only five minutes have to be threatened with their lives just to do a shitty bandaging job on you...."

He circled Arthvader.

"You are a fool. You are a coward. You are a weakling, a copycat, and an utter failure. Today, I end your existance..."

He raised his sword up with both hands, the blade pointing down as he stood over the corpse. He impaled the skull of the human, de-summoning the phoenix with his own magics. Then, a fifteen foot wide pillar of black fire engulfed both body and demon....

Once the fire faded, the body was gone, and the demon was left unharmed, his sword in the ground with his hands wrapped around the hilt. He smirked maniacally, and flew off, in the direction of the nearest town...

Behind the scenes, with little work and using rumors of his reputation he had developed a good sized cult of followers consisting of weak humans that were searching for power... He began to gather them, and with one hundred mortals in cloaks, a few horse drawn wagons full of tools in tow, the demon began to lead his followers for the nearest stone filled hills...

(Your dead, I'm done. I don't care if I get kicked from the RP, which probably won't happen, seeing as everyone wants your ass punished, humiliated ,or banned, but I killed you and that's all I care about.)

The insignia on his right sword glowed brightly again, and Felldoh's warrior spirit pulsed within him. He couldn't tell which was causing which, as he positioned himself into the same stance he'd been using before.

Julius nodded as he grabbed his blade with both hands, tightly holding the handle. He set his eyes on his opponent, not willing to lose his enemy from sight, while circling around him. Suddenly the armor began to shine once again, as if it were resonating in response to Felldoh's sword. "What now?! No, can't be.... the armor! Not now..."

Julius was surprised to see the armor's power being unleashed without being commanded. It seems that Felldoh's sword was infuriating the dark armor. A dark aura enveloped his sword and flames engulfed the steel of his weapon. Now his sword was a blazing inferno and his armor was slowly taking its place within Julius' consciousness, becoming a symbiotic weapon, a parasite fighting for control. The light of his eyes faded and was replaced by a dark, reddish, glimmer. In a burst of power, Julius rushed recklessly towards Felldoh and unleashed the power of his blade with a mighty downward slash to the his opponent's right shoulder.

Felldoh heard his comrade's cry, and moved forward to see if he needed help. He kept his swords at the ready, just in case he was right before: the armor could be controlling him.

Felldoh was right. In a whirl of black flames, the black-armoured man rushed Felldoh, his sword driving towards Felldoh's shoulder in a blazing blur.

Felldoh cried out and dodged it, though only by a fur-length. Literally. A neat amount of fur was shaved off Felldoh's right arm as the sword came down.

Felldoh jumped back immediately, whirling his swords around to get momentum. With a roar, Felldoh whirled around and jabbed straight for the jewel. Something told him, as his sword shined more brightly, that this was the cause of the armour's evil.

(Aim at his helm, if you strike that should be good enough to send a purifying shock of light energy towards the stone.)
In a desperate respond to keep its existence and the fragile bond between Julius and the stone, the armor, manipulated by the dark stone, made Julius dodge Felldoh's attack with a side step to the right, Hera's blade tearing apart part of his red cape. Suddenly, Julius stone began to glow more intensively, as if it were trying to absorb the purified evil contained within Felldoh's sword. The now controlled knight rose his blade and brought it down towards Hera but missed by a few inches. He soon dashed forward shortening the distance between his opponent and himself, and quickly lunging his sword at Felldoh.

((LMAO Julius, you're fightin FELLDOH, not Hera xD If you were fighting Hera, you would be dead right now :P Not only that, but Felldoh's right sword is the Sword of Light, no evil at all in it LOL))

Felldoh's attack skirted the black-armoured man, doing nothing but slicing his cape. Felldoh stumbled, cursing as he jumped up, dodging the next strike clumsily.

The cobblestones of the town were not the greatest for his footpaws to be running on, and he tripped again as his footpaw caught an edge.

He was lucky for it though. As he fell, the black-armoured man's sword shot overhead, missing Felldoh's nose by an inch.

Felldoh jumped up, roaring. He shot behind the black-armoured man, slashing cross-wise at the man's helm, careful to not strike for the neck.

:-)wacky:)

The attack had a clean shot on Julius' helm, good enough to knock him off balance. An electrifying shock of light energy ran through Julius' body, disrupting the negative energy field emanated from deep within the armor. Julius' feet stumbled, bringing him on his knees, lifting a cloud of dust. The tip of Julius' sword struck the ground and stuck itself on the dirt. With much struggle, Julius claimed his body once again, not remembering much between the beginning of the battle and the moment when he was struck down by Felldoh.

"ARGHHHHHH!!!!"

As he rose up, he pulled the sword from the ground and turned to face Felldoh. The hilt of the sword held tightly, Julius aimed his sword towards Felldoh once more. No longer emanating an evil aura, his armor was temporarily purified by shifting its elemental alignment to the attribute of light. It seems that, the armor's behavior was strictly linked to the elemental alignment it had, dark elemental energies ending up in a burst of anger coming from both the stone and the armor. Panting and nearly exhausted, Julius managed to recover some of his stamina.

"Huh....what just happened? Oh never mind, let us continue..."

A newly refreshed Julius, still a little sore from the previous hit, bent his knees and with enough momentum he leaped towards Felldoh. While in mid air he readied his sword and came rushing down with a powerful, bone shattering, downward slash.

The night was cold on the men's skin as they had their armour removed - which would be a pleasantry if not for such low temperatures. The soldiers of Avernus were always clad in full armour, except at the behest of their masters.

The howling became more apparent to the following now, and made them uneasy. Werewolves were quite fearsome indeed, and their sibling halfbreeds even more-so. Luck, they hoped, would extent their way to avoid such an encounter with these malevolent fiends of shadow.

Taharka on the other hand, knew better of them. Dark Spawn were these mutated breed; results of the alchemy wrought deep within the fortress' catacombs - with the evident implementation of Dark Gem powers. He did not question that said fiends would attack this quarry, at least until they saw the face of their maker.

While all of this conflict went on, Kaos had different plans for now. Wandering aimlessly and sleeping on low tree branches, rocks, or in dirty, gravel filled caves.

The only solution, build a home. Though, wooden homes were not warm. Stone ones required lots of workers. And while you already have a workforce, you might as well go big.

How big? The demon was going to build a small castle. He wasn't going to establish his own town, though he would create the buildings and fields needed to feed a few hundred people. He went to the stone quarries that had been long abandoned do to barbaric tribes constantly looting the area, and had his people get to work...
He did little work himself, he basically oversaw the whole operation and made sure nobody was going to attack as his hilltop castle was being constructed.

OOC: YOU ALL LEFT ME SO FAR BEHIND!!!! T^T

IC:
Zeria ignored everything going on around her. People had come and gone...and she was tired...but no. She wasn't going to waste time and rest. Her eyes turned a bright forest green.

"Natura, Artis Magistra!"

Soon, she was using the earth to propel herself in the direction the man in armor had gone. Arth had thought he was Julius, but the man had said he wasn't. Still, she wondered if this man knew anything about Julius' whereabouts.

"Hang on, Julius....I'll save you yet..."

Zeria was determined to find him, and wouldn't give up, even with her wounds hurting so badly...

It seemed like only a few days in real life time.... But, somehow, the humans, overseen by the demon were nearly done with the castle keep itself.

They had a secret. These were not powerless humans, but moderate to low level necromancers that could summon various forms of undead to help speed up the process. The undead needed no food nor breaks, making them very effective workers.

There were one hundred humans, and somewhere in the 200 area of undead, but because of their efficency, they might as well had five hundred people on the project instead!

With the Quarries working at 100% efficiency, the wall began its slow construction, along with the rest of the buildings...

((LOL, Zeria, you should've been following along :P))

Felldoh had heard the black-armoured man cry. He started to move forward, but had hesitated. What if it's a trick of the armour? Felldoh thought. I'd better be careful.

His worry was in vain, however. Though he had landed a smart blow on his foe, and managed to release a veritable tonne of evil energy from the armour, the man still had some stamina left.

He had, of course, panted a great deal before recovering, but even so, the man's endurance was greater than Felldoh had ever thought to imagine.

Felldoh grinned as the man pointed his sword at Felldoh. Great, Felldoh thought as he got into a ready stance. He's not down. I would've been worried if he'd gone down after that.

Felldoh's eyes widened as the man rushed him again, slashing downwards at a dizzying speed. Felldoh thought quickly. He knew he wouldn't be able to dodge it right away, so he placed his swords above his head as he skirted to the side, angling them to his left as he jumped to his right.

He would parry his foe and come at him from behind again.

(After this I'll skip the day travel and take us both to the mansion, is that ok Hera?)
Julius quickly turned to block Felldoh's attack, and attempted to take him down with a powerful downward slash. Though something weird happened; Julius' hand halted the movement of the sword, stopping mere inches away from Felldoh.

During that moment, a battle of wills raged within Julius' mind. One part wanted to harm Felldoh while the other wished to avoid using brute force. He tightened the grip of his sword, struggling against the "other" entity. The stone he was wearing was one of the legendary gems his Lord Taharka sought to obtain, though Julius was unaware of that fact. The battle within him was fierce, images and memories flashed back and forth before his eyes, sometimes his eyes showed hatred while at other times they showed peace and devotion to protect the innocent. Suddenly he gave an inhuman howl, ending with him screaming and moving his head from left to right, as if he were denying something. Could it be a long forgotten crime coming back to haunt him?

"Stop!! This ends here!...I can't keep it up...sorry Felldoh..."

Julius backed away from Felldoh slowly and with much difficulty, his feet stumbling a little on his way but soon he stood tall and firm like the soldier he now was. He sheathed his sword and saluted formally, paying his respects to Felldoh. "It has been an honor to duel with you. Sorry for my carelessness, I..think I lost it...anyway we must rest. Tomorrow we go at sunrise and we need some sleep..."

((Yes, it is. That's actually a really good idea; Felldoh has been itching to meet Taharka anyhow (even though he's at his own little camp)

However, you have to be careful, Julius. While going down was what I was planning on doing anyways, you can't just say that you took me down. Technically speaking, that's god-modding. Since I was planning on taking the fall anyways, I'll let it slide, but be careful next time, okay? ;) ))

Felldoh was sent sprawling by the force of the man's attack. Though his swords had managed to absorb the brunt of the force, the attack forced Felldoh to the ground.

But something very strange happened. The black-armoured man had made for the finishing blow (whether he'd intended to harm or not was beyond Felldoh), but all of a sudden, his sword stopped dead, only inches from Felldoh's nose.

The man's eyes flashed between red and green, and Felldoh covered his ears as a cry, from the man, rent the air like claws on chalk.

The man finished, muttering, "Stop!! This ends here!...I can't keep it up...sorry Felldoh..."

Felldoh was still very startled by what was happening. Before coming to this plane, he had never once been in the presence of magic, witht he exception of the parlor illusions that Ballaw would often do for entertainment.

This was different, though; this was true magic. There was nothing amateur about this, nor was it an illusion. For the first time in his life since he was a dibbun, Felldoh was scared. Not frightened, not startled, but really and truly scared.

He did not let it show on his face, though, as his adversary backed up. Felldoh, too, rose from the cobblestone ground, and looked at him straight in the eyes. It didn't take long for the man to regain his posture and salute Felldoh, though Felldoh knew that the man must be hiding something.

"It has been an honor to duel with you. Sorry for my carelessness, I..think I lost it...anyway we must rest. Tomorrow we go at sunrise and we need some sleep..."

Felldoh nodded. "It was short, but a very...enlightening duel, matey." Looking at the inn, he said, "Yeah, we probably should get some rest." Felldoh made for the inn and went to his room.

He had spent many a night on patrol before, and tonight would be no exception. Purely out of habit, the young squirrel snuck out through his window and positioned himself on the very top of the tall inn, which overlooked all the other buildings in the city, except for what seemed to be a church a ways to the south-east.

Felldoh sat up there with his swords by his side, taking periodic two-hour naps until his instincts woke him up again.

He would make Badrang pay for what he did to him. And pay dearly, he would.

(Ok, we are to leave for the mansion and from there I'll send a soldier with a message to Taharka's camp. I just want to hasten these a bit. Or maybe you could take us there. Just ask Saix the name of the town in which his mansion is located.)

As both warriors went to their own respective chambers, Julius' mind was lost in thoughts of the battle that ended a few moments ago. He wondered if what Felldoh said was true; that the power of the stone and the armor should not to be trusted. Julius refused to accept the truth, he knew that the Gem of Punishment could be controlled and that with training he would master its magic. However, he had his doubts, as he went upstairs, with each step he took, he had a chilling feeling that ran through his spine, it was the fear to truth. Legends spoke of the evil that Gem could emanate, yet Julius thought of them as mere legends of old.

Lost in his thoughts as he was, he found himself before his room. His right hand reached and slowly turned the doorknob. Julius went inside and locked the door, then taking away all his equipment and falling tired on the bed. He stared at the ceiling until falling a sleep.

The following day, Julius awoke earlier, and he awaited prepared clad in his armor after taking a bath of warm water, having breakfast and taking up his sword. He was waiting for his soldiers, mounted on his horse, staring at the rising sun. Soldiers woke up and got their horses as well, and they awaited patiently for Felldoh.

Lord Kaos was growing a bit desperate with his construction...

In his attempts to claim more food, gold, and workers, he began to use his power to... 'pursuade' important figures of the nearest villages. He made minor bribes to get people to shut up when needed... And flat out killed others. He was starting to sway people to come to his castle in construction.

Eventually, one of them began to threaten him, and threaten to take over his castle with their city guard. Kaos believed the name of the town was Kelithzon... But then again, he only heard it once and really didn't give a shit. It was just another human town with more people to do his will.

So, he took it upon himself to halt construction entirely... In favor of bringing the several hundred undead soldiers to said town...

"All who wish to find use in their dull lives, those who wish to find power, riches and glory... You will go north to my castle and assist those already working." The demon announced loudly in the center of town, surrounded by his mob of skeletons and zombies. "Your level of experience matters not... Though, I will tell you all this..." He paused.

"Those who fail to give me a tribute now, and those who will not move to my new home will be slain... Now, form a line, and bring food or things of value... You all have three hours to comply."

(I'll just skip the travel part to arrive as quickly as possible to Taharka's Fortress, ok Hera?. I hope Saix loves the name of his fortress, a name coming from a great game)

The Fortress of Avernus, legendary for its splendorous cathedral named after the town of Avernus as well, has been the center of operations of Lord Taharka for several months. It was in this very place where Julius found the Gem of Punishment, contained deep within the catacombs of the sacred cathedral. While in the library, Julius stumbled across a book containing information about the gem's whereabouts, and without knowing if they were true, he set on an investigation to prove the existence of that gem. After much careful search, Julius sighted and claimed the Gem of Punishment held within the sarcophagus of the ancient Archbishop of Avernus Cathedral, his Excellency Andre Michael York Van Tassel. Even though his orders were to report any findings about the gems, Julius felt he needed to keep it away from everyone, fearing of the power he read about in that old book. Later on, while investigating even further, with the aid of an alchemist he discovered that the gem in his possession was artificially created with fragments of taken from the legendary mythical Shadow Gem, long forgotten and lost. Julius was disappointed to know he mistook that gem he found for the Shadow Gem after believing he had that legendary artifact, but was satisfied to know he had a powerful artificial gem in his possession. All of these events were put at work deep inside his troubled mind. Still he wanted more, for the power of the Shadow Gem lured him to find it and once found, he would artificially merge both gems with with the power of alchemy.

After traveling for nearly half a day, Julius and his unit finally arrived to Avernus, the guards set at the entrance of the town saluted as Sir Julius and his unit entered. The gates of the fortified town were sealed as they entered, all of this as a precautions taken due to the rumors of rebel activity to the southern woods near Avernus. As he approached the fortress, Julius commanded his unit to regroup with the rest of the soldiers of the town, and ordered all horses to be taken to the stables and given the adequate treatment, after all they were a little weary for such a long journey.

The doors were opened by the guards and Julius entered with an imposing pace, the sound of his heavy boots could be heard echoing through the walls and rooms of the magnanimous fortress. Lord Taharka would be waiting as usual in his own room, so Julius would have to announce his presence. While in his visit, Julius spoke of his companion to whom he referred as Sir Felldoh The Wise, and announced him as well for a meeting with Lord Taharka. A soldier ran quickly to be at the presence of Lord Taharka and tell him of Julius' arrival.

Zeria finally picked up the trail of Felldoh, by using the earth to tell her which way they'd gone, and traced it as far as she could.

"Felldoh went with Julius. If Felldoh is here, then so should Julius be"

She found the door to the place and found it locked, so she found a window and climbed through it. Zeria looked around. No one was in the room.

"Time to find them..."

She began to wander......

((That's great, since it gives me loads to work with.

o_O Avernus! OMG, you guys really ARE Legacy of Kain nerds :nerd: :wacky:))

Felldoh followed the troupe silently all night, not even saying a word as they left the town. There was far too much going on at night, and his mind was filled with home-sickness, sadness, and self-loathing.

It struck him during the night, harder than ever, that he was probably never going back home. He tried to push it past himself at first, make himself think that he was delusional. But he couldn't deny it. Not only was he simply launched into this world, with no idea how to get back, but he was pulled in here without a trace of magic or anything left behind. Whatever magic pulled him in here, it did not want to be found. Nor did it seem that it wanted to be reversed.

With this terrible realization came the fact that there was a supremely slim chance of ever seeing Brome, Ballaw, Rowanoak, Celandine, his father, Keyla, or any of his other friends again. For the first time in his life, he cried.

He had been under the rod, his back beaten black and blue; been put under pain that no creature should ever have to endure, but he had never once cried until now. As his tears soaked his face-fur, his Sword glowed brightly, but in a slow pulsing way, reflecting his sadness with each beat.

He would never again see Brome. Felldoh had lived his life with Barkjon, Keyla, and the other slaves, but Brome was his one true matey. Never did Felldoh have a true friend like Brome, and with each memory, the sadness was renewed. As his friends flashed through his memory, he was comforted by nothing.

And then he realized that it was his fault. He wouldn't have died, would never have been ambushed, if he hadn't run after Badrang like he had. He never would have been caught off-guard if he'd been more careful, if he hadn't been so rash.

He resolved in the night, stained by tears as he was, to find a way to get back, no matter how hard, no matter how impossible, the task was.

He had, however, been silent about this for the whole trip to the Fortress of Avernus. He'd ridden towards the back of the group for the whole way, away from the piercing eyes of the black-armoured man.

And so it was that they arrived at the great Fortress. Even Felldoh was amazed, though his depression was so great that he did not show his amazement on his face. He stared at nothing, only taking quick glances at his surroundings.

One thing that amazed him was in one of the hallways. As he expected from a great castle, there were suits of armour. However, each suit had an insignia on it in this hallway.

Felldoh saw one just like the insignia on his new Sword. What did it mean?
