The Paths of Tragedy

Wylliam stopped, stared, and gave up on reality. He had just seen a man drop fifty stories, survive without a scratch, and take off in speeds that Wylliam didn't think possible for a human. Even after that, he had managed to keep a hold of reality by its very fringes. Then he saw the man fly into the air. Reality slipped. As a small bit of drool made its way to his chin, he heard a woman scream, rousing him from his stupor. Wylliam dashed in the direction of the scream, dropping into the alley only to find the assailant unconcious on the ground, the target of his pursuit standing over him with a giant zweihander sword. Then, he got a glimpse of his face. "Wait... You're the one from earlier today!" he exclaimed, pointing a shaky arm at the man. The drool was threatening to make a reappearance. "Who... W-What are you?!"

As Damian wandered along the rocky path that could lead to anywhere, he encountered the ice forest of Dian. As he entered the icy forest he could hear a deafening roar somewhere deep within. Preparing his staff in both hands he cauciously entered the forest, every few steps he would search around for the bearer of the roar. Despite its beastly sound, it seemed to bear some kind of humanity that was beginning to fail.

Damian eventually entered a clearing, after brushing through the icy trees behind him. After a few seconds of walking towards a few area of the forest a loud crash could be heard behind him. As Damian turned an icy demonic form stood mere feet away, bearing a strange blade over its right knuckles. Its body was covered in a strange bony structure and its skin was as blue as water, it bore a hige crest atop its head and its fingers and toes were replaced by large black claws. Enraged, the beast charged towards Damian.

Damian barely managed to block him off with his staff and was quickly being crushed under the strength of the demon. Damian managed to gain a second wind however before his guard was broken and managed to send the demon off of him.

"I don't know what you are, but you seem different to other demons, who are you?" Damian asked the demon.
"My name serves no purpose, if you wish to know my name, release me from this form, it has cursed my steps these past two years, despite the power it brings it bears a terrible curse. I have had to do many things in order to remain sane and alive, if you can beat me then I will entrust my life to you, for the lives of the people I slew." The demon replied, taken aback slightly Damian quickly recovered and readied his staff, bearing it towards the demon.

The demon, likewise rose his sword towards Damian, slowly walking towards him. When he was within feet of his he jumped forwards and prepared a diagonal slash to Damian, damian managed to dodge this with a roll to the left. The demon, left unguarded gave Damian an opportunity to strike him with his staff, he held his staff in both hands and swung it to the right, denting the demon's crest. The demon, enraged turned to face Damian and grabbed his right arm and aimed his left hand towards Damian and shouted "Ice laser", a large beam of ice erupted from his hand, and directly towards Damian, he managed to dodge most of the attack but his staff was frozen to the ground, leaving Damian undefended.

Cain, still inside Darkofia castle began to explore his domain, though he had a strong grip over his forces he had only come to power a few days ago. Walking along the dark and misty corridoors he searched the lifeless ground and the shadowed chambers. The curtains were torn, the floor was stony, the windows were mere holes punched through the walls. The corridoors seemed to go on endlessly and many areas seemed to serve only the purpose of an evil and sadistic ruler, as he entered the lower areas of his domain he explored the dungeons, numerous contraptions which only served the purpose of bringing in as much pain as possible to the prisoner, or victim.

On the march his forces began to seperate slightly they soon came to a mountain clearing where a group of cultists sat in worship could be seen. A group of death archers stood at the head of the ranks and rose their bony shortbows towards the sky, placing a hooked arrow into the bow, they pulled back the bowstring and let the arrow fly. Seconds later the screams of countless people could be heard, some firetroops soon marched on the mountain and set the settlement alight in dark flames.

After the task was done they continued marching, they soon picked up Damian's trail and began to march on the ice forest of Dian. If Damian didn't hurry his battle the troops would find him, and quickly slay him.

Kali yawned and stretched as far as she could, her toes curling under the table. She ran two hands through her hair and gave her scalp a scratch before rubbing her eyes. The door opened, (the young woman must have forgotten to lock it after her encounter with Kali) and a man walked in, heading up stairs. He looked 'familiar' somehow, but she shrugged her shoulders and rose from her seat. She pushed the stool under the table to make room for the cleaners to work and headed for the stairs herself. There were some strange ones around this part of the land. It wasn't natural.

Climbing the stairs the was just in time to see the man disappear into a room, it happened to be a few doors up from her own. Averting her gaze from the door, she concentrated on the key hole of her own room and wiggled the key a little until it unlocked. She removed the key and walked inside, immediately locking the door after her. Looking around the room, she noticed it wasn't half bad. It wasn't good, but it wasn't awful. It had what seemed to be a comfy bed, a stool, a bed side table, a small wardrobe and a window. It was clean, so that was a plus to and it seemed the table was quite well stocked with books.

The first thing Kali did was check the bed for any weird marks, she was quite picky with that, but it seemed the maids did a good job in keeping they're rooms tip top and the sheets were completely free of anything. Then she proceeded to sitting and bouncing on the bed to check it for any broken wires...there were none. Finally, Kali removed her precious Silver Fang from her back and placed it by the side of her bed, close enough so it could not be stolen and close enough so that she could take the head of anyone who dared to try. Then she proceeded to remove her flouncy white top and the light blue cloak, leaving her in the training top and her trousers. She took this time to pick a book from the table next to her and sprawl herself out on the bed in a position she thought was most comfortable and began to read.

In all honesty, it was hard for Kali to fall asleep at night, being a half wolf anthro she found the night to be the most active time of the day. But it seemed these days she found more need to be awake in the morning, she she had had to alter her sleeping habits to revolve around others, there was the odd time she would sleep through the day and be active at night, but these days things happened more often in the day time...which Kali thought to be quite 'back to front'. She sighed after a while and closed the book, making a mental note of what page she was on, before slipping under the blankets and putting out the flame of the lamp on the side table. She snuggled up onto her side, but she found it hard to get to sleep that night.

The next morning, Cairn found himself being awakened by the first rays of the sun, the morning due still covering the grass on the field, the birds chanting their angelical melody, and the clouds passing over the sky with the shape of silver horses running by the wind. Cairn rose from his bed, sitting on it for a few moments. He soon placed his face on the palm of his hands and closed his eyes, sighing and then staying like that for a while. He then placed his hands on his knees and opened his eyes, turning his sight towards the sword leaning against the wall, his sword with his armor next to it. Cairn got on his feet and walked towards his sword and armor, put on some clean clothes and then clad himself in his armor. He then tied the belt of his sheathed sword to the left side of his hip, and soon after grabbed his cape and put it on, covering his shoulders and his back. After having done equipping, Cairn left the room clean and organized, and left the room locking the door with the key. He went downstairs, the morning was still peaceful and not much activity could be seen in the bar. Gade had already woken up and was enjoying his breakfast on a table near one of the large glass windows. Cairn decided to walk towards the counter and sit on one of the chairs next to it. He ordered a glass of water to refresh himself, and there he remained awaiting for Jonad and Arthvader.

Hejaloki and Julius had stopped in the woods and stayed in a magical tent.

Hejaloki said, "Lets be on our way, Julius." With that Hejaloki took his staff and hit the ground and the tent disappeared in a flash of light.

Then they continued on their way.

Kali had managed to get off to sleep that night with some difficulty. What with the day being clear and starry, the moon was in full view and it seemed to call her, but she knew she needed her rest for the journey. Throwing the blankets off of herself, she sat on the edge of the bed and rubbed her wolfish eyes. It hadn't been a very restful sleep, but it was more than what she got from camping under the stars. She smoothed her ears down against her head and wagged her tail to ensure it hadn't fallen asleep. Satisfied with the half hearted wag, she got to her feet and stretched before grabbing her cotton jacket and throwing it on, she did the same with her cloak and grabbed her boots, hanging them from her belt. The last thing she grabbed was her prized weapons, she gave it a once over just to make sure it hadn't taken any damage and huffed when she was satisfied. She returned it to its rightful place and took they key from her pocket, opening the door and locking it behind her.

She walked down the wooden stairs and placed the key on the table she had only paid for one night. The woman took it and placed it back wherever it was she had taken it from. She looked at Kali and gave a smile. "Did you sleep well?" She asked.
Kali shrugged, "I never sleep, well. But it was comfortable. Thank you." She gave her a small bow of her head and shoulders and walked over to a table towards the centre of the inn. As she passed the counter, there sat the man she had seen retreat to bed the night before. She took a glance at him before taking her seat at the table. The inn was quite empty; it seemed people around here were not early birds in the slightest. There were a few up, but she suspected them to be travellers who were getting a head start on the day.

Taking another glance at the man at the counter, she noticed a grand sword strapped to his hip. It was impressive and Kali knew that a sword as grand as that did not belong to just ANY man.

As Damian eyed his staff, now frozen to the icy floor he knew he would have no choice but to use his own magic to beat this demon, placing his hands near one another he raised his left hand into the air and created a ball of fire. As he lowered his hand carefully till he could feel the warmth of the flame he then hurled it baseball style towards the demon, unable to dodge the quick speed of the attack he was caught off guard and hit the ice, slightly melting it. As he rose he nearly fell through the ice, but held on with his two hands, large shark-like creatures seemed to be swimming towards him, circling his body. Damian however ran towards the demon and held out his hand.

"Why... Why are you helping me? I tried to kill you!" The demon shouted, not even panicing at the growing threat of the creatures that lay only a few feet away.
"Because I want to, now c'mon, enough talk, take my hand!" Damian told the demon.

As the demon took Damian's hand and pulled himself out of the water he began reverting into his human form, clearly the kind spirit and sense of calmness had brough him peace. As Damian beheld his body he saw now barely any taller than him, he wore a dark brown jacket that was covered in rips and his trousers were black and were torn in the middle of his lower legs. His shoes were light brown and seemed to have been made from an animal, possibly a deer of some kind. His hair was crimson red and fell to below his shoulders and was surprisingly straight with only a few messy parts along the edges. He seemed to be very muscular, maybe from a lot of fighting, his eyes were hazel and seemed to hide a great sense of anger. He began to feel slightly faint but recovered quickly, Damian walked over to retrieve his staff before returning to the man.

"Alright, who are you?" Damian asked.
"... Call me Raven" The man answered, clearly hiding something in those words.
"Alright... Raven, do you know anything about a 'Cain Delvo'?" Damian asked.
"Not a thing, I've been living here for the past two years and turned rather... Animalistic." Raven replied.
"Okay... Well do you know anywhere that I may find clues?" Damian asked.
"Well, I'd try the port town of Vaid, they get plenty of travellers I hear so check there." Raven replied.
"Alright, bye then." Damian announced, then proceeded to leave.
"Wait, take me with you, my life has served no meaning since I abandoned what I held dear to me, I hope to also find information on what I have lost." Raven half begged.

Damian moved his hand in a welcoming way and continued walking out of the forest, with Raven following him. As they left they encountered a force of demons, apparently a war party.
----------------------------------------------
As Cain finished exploring his castle he took to the room, preparing for the return of his men, his only companion was the lightning and it seemed to endlessly boom with thunder. As Cain started to remember his life with his brother Damian, he let a small tear fall down his face, he wiped it quickly and returned inside.

Cain's force had now located Damian, preparing their blades and spears to attack Damian Raven quickly stepped forward and shielded Damian. He then transformed into his demon form and a huge pillar of ice began to surround them, scaring the force into a retreat. When they were out of site he removed the barrier of ice and reverted back. Damian was slightly shaken, the cold had made him feel slightly ill. Raven gave him a fireman's carry and began to walk in the direction of Vaid.

After the conversation with Cairn, Arthvader headed towards the inn, ordered a room to stay in the night. As he entered his room, He quickly got to his bed and went to sleep.

Later...

As morning arrived, Arthvader went ahead and headed towards the shower. When he was finished, he took his time gathering up all of his equipment. As he began putting his clothing and armor on, He was thinking about was was probably going to happen. Earlier that night, when he was talking to Cairn, He heard a familiar voice. 'Just who could that person be anyways. do I know this person? I better tread carefully if I want to know all of the details.' He thought As he finished putting on his gear.

Upon leaving his room, he went ahead to meet up with Cairn. There, he took a seat next to him.

"So, What's the plan Cairn?"

Zeria had stayed awake all night, watching the man, and had even followed him inside of his own shadow all the way downstairs. Now, she was hiding within his shadow, watching as Arthvader approached.

~What is Arth doing here? And how does he connect with this man...?~

The only thing she really didn't realize about being in the man's shadow, was that it appeared in her form. If anyone noticed that his shadow looked like the shape of a woman, her cover would be blown...she'd lost the cloak in the shadows, so the shadow showed every feature...even the blades strapped to her back. But the shadow would be nothing more than a shadow of what she looked like. No color...would anyone notice?

"Well, we wait for Jonad. He is a friend of mine, a healer whose abilities will be useful in battle" Cairn commented as he drinks his glass of water, refreshing his throat. Soon breakfast arrives, and one of the maids places an order of hot bread with eggs and roasted meat. Cairn seems to be pleased with the dish he just bought, and proceeds to eat it. Suddenly, Cairn snaps his fingers and calls the maid, telling him to bring Arthvader anything he wishes. "Ask for anything, I'll pay."

Jake looked to the side, surprised at what he saw. Standing there was the same man who had jumped up and met them on the roof before that brawl.

Jake looked at him amusedly when he was asked what he was. "That's not exactly easy to answer..." Jake said, rubbing the back of his head. "Um..." He crossed his arms and stared up at the morning sky. "Well, I'm human...but I'm also 3 parts alien...rgh, how should I explain this."

Jake frowned and took a deep breath. "Alright, here goes. I'm a fifteen-year-old kid who is mostly human. But, I'm also part Allsie (that's the same race as the guy you saw me with earlier), part Kariyu-Shina (another alien race), and part Dragon. I'm mostly human, though."

With all that out of his hair, Jake smiled and looked at the man. "Anyways, the name's Jake; Jake King. What's up?"

"Mostly human... uh-huh..." Wylliam was trying desperately to accept that his senses were not on the fritz, and that the being before him was truly, if not wholy, human. Still, he hadn't completely decided against checking himself into the mad-house yet. "Alright, you say you're part alien. Your friend most definitely blew the door off that bar. And I am not having a hallucinogenic breakdown?" Try as he might, he couldn't keep the pleading tone from his voice.

OOC: OH GHOD (typo intended). I'm so sorry, I usually get an email warning about new posts.

Jonad was running in a field of grass, nothing to be seen around but grass.
Suddenly, a gorgeous girl came running to him.
They met up in a warm embrace.
Their lips got closer.

*ZNORK!*
"Aww. why do I always have to awake at the best part" Jonad complained to himself.
He looked towards the window, the pain of the rays.
His pale skin, and the lack of pigments, made the sun an eternal friend, and enemy.

He forced himself to his legs, and again looked outside.
"I wonder if Cairn is awake"
He let out a sigh, and grabbed his white hooded robe.
He put if on, and right after, did a quick inventory check.
Everything seemed in order.

He exited the door, locking the room behind himself. He walked towards, and down the stairs.
The Inn seemed to be not too populated. Not too rare to see at this time.
Cairn was at the counter, and Gade seemed to already be in his breakfast.

Jonad sighed slightly, and walked up to the counter.
First now, he noted another person there.
Beside Cairn, there was a young male, looked like he was close to his 20ies.
He had brown spiky hair, and a green tunic.
He seemed to be a sword user as well.

Jonad sat down on a chair, that left one avalible between himself, and the new dude.

Jonad looked still asleep. And the barkeep came over.
Jonad mumbled his order.
"What, speak up" the Barkeep stated.
"Oh, sorry. One Ale, and some stew" Jonad stated, clearer this time.
The barkeep entered the kitchen door halfway, and shouted in the order.

Jonad turned to face Cairn.
"G'morning" he stated, looking half asleep.

Hejaloki and Julius made their way in to the city of Palacious.

As they entered the city. Hushed whispers were spreading through the town.

"Is that the prophet." said a citizen in a whisper to a guard.
The guard replied, " I think he is just another false magician."

"Can it be?" said another citizen.

Hejaloki and Julius (aka Octavis Sode) made their way to the town center. There a man came limping towards the prophet (Hejaloki). This guy was like this since birth. Trying to ask him to help him, but them trips into the arms of Hejaloki.

"Help me prophet, please!" said the man.

Hejaloki lifted the man to his feet with some strength he didn't look like he has.

"May the will of the fates heal you." With that Hejaloki healed the man.

The man walked normally for the first time and was cheering to the crowd. The crowd was awl struck. Having the crowds attention. Hejaloki bellowed:

"Be warn darkness is coming once again. Likes of which this world hasnt seen in a long time. All people must band together to battle the darkness. Sides will not matter to the darkness. If you do not settle your differences the darkness will consume you all."

Hejaloki turned to Julius, " Assist me Octavis."

For healing the man of that injury it took a lot of his power. A lot more then it would have normally taken him in the past to heal. he also came here to this town for another reason. To regain a item he use to carry thousands of years ago. Locked in the chapel vault. He and Julius made their way to the Chapel.

Jake raised his right eyebrow skeptically. "You've never seen someone use energy before? My gramps just blasted some energy..."

Wow, Jake thought. This place is almost as bad as Earth.

"No," Jake said, "You aren't going crazy. We can use energy to attack and defend ourselves. It's a lot easier to blast a small burt of energy than it is to jump down and knock a door over. But what about you guys," he continued, jumping back up onto a roof. "What's your story?"

"Good Morning Sir Jonad, I believe you just recently woke up. Have a sit with is and enjoy a good breakfast. Today we head to the City of Palacious. We must be careful though, I've heard that bandits wander these regions." Cairn rested his elbows on top of the counter and leaned his chin against the palm of his left hand, staring at the mirror before him. Without turning to see Jonad, Cairn commented-"Our means of transportation has been already prepared. Gade should be waiting at the town's entrance." Cairn brought his eyes to the exit, the rays of the sun illuminating the floor, the clouds passing so peacefully as the wind carried them with gentle arms.

As Raven carried the unconcious Damian across the plains the cold feeling of Dain was replaced by the warm sun and the gentle grass that he walked across on his journey to Vaid. As he entered the port town he was greeted by several anxious passers by who, seeing Damian unconcious helped to guide Raven towards a nearby inn to get some rest, as he entered the inn he noticed the numerous pictures that decorated the walls, showing many species of large fish and other beasts of the sea as well as artwork of ships and other vessels. When Damian was resting in a room upstairs Raven walked outside and walked towards the town entrance, almost as if he was waiting for somebody to arrive.
----------------------------------------
As Cain returned to his throns room he could hear the distant sound of his forces returning, had they killed Damian? Had they encountered a force of some kind? His answer was soon revealed as he saw his forces rampage through the castle towards the throne room and all of them quickly lowered themselves to their demonic ruler.

"I'm sorry m'lord, we encountered a powerful demonic man, much like yourself as we encountered your brother." Announced a soldier at the head of the forces, shakingly.

Hearing this Cain walked over to the soldier, then he began to pace around him, examining him.

"This demonic man you speak of, was he allied with my brother?" Cain asked, menacingly.
"Yes sir, he indeed was allied with your brother, it appears he is gaining allies, though when we fled from his power he appeared to have left your brother weakened." The soldier replied, still shakily.
"Well then, if this is the case, would you happen to know of where he has fled to?" Cain asked, slightly angered.
"Yes sir, he appears to have gone to the port town of Vaid" The soldier replied.

Hearing this news Cain allowed an evil smile to enter his lips, walking to his throns and lifting Dark shadow ripper from the ground he then allowed himself to fly over his men and set off for the direction of Vaid to end this fight with his brother.

Wylliam followed Jake onto the roof. "I," he began, landing with a flourish that could have been mistaken for a misstep, "am Wylliam Morgan, the famed 'Dragoon with the Wyvern Eye'. My ((self proclaimed)) reputation as Seseu's most powerful, cunning, and handsome mercenary is ((in his mind)) unquestioned."

Straightening, he leaned on his spear and looked into the eyes of the strange youth. "No doubt by 'our story,' you are referring to this debauched war taking place. Okay, here's the short version." With that, Wylliam began to account to the youth the events leading directly to the current conflict.

--------------------------------

"That's about it," he concluded, "pretty repetitive stuff if you take a step back and look at human history."

Wylliam sighed and shook his head in a manner that left no question to his belief that if everyone were as wise as he, the world would be a much better place.

"So, I decided to join the Seseuan cause as a partisan mercenary. Not my preference, but I had to do something to help stop the emperical ambitions of Aldabra."

He returned his gaze to Jake. "So, what brings you two to our humble little world?

As Raven crossed his arms and looked on to the sunny sky he sensed an evil presence approaching, lowering himself to a crouch instinctively he waited, knowing something of power able to match his own was about to appear. As he sensed the power he noticed it appearing from the direction of the sea, with this knowledge he ran towards the center of town and prepared to get every able warrior ready to knock back this force.

"Every able warrior, please gather to me! A powerful beast is going to attack this place if we don't defend it! We must protect its vanquisher before it has a chance to slay him!"

Raven ran towards a pile of discarded pipes and placed his right hand against them all, like magic they levitated into the air and slowly transformed into a 7ft long iron longsword.

"Everyone, you'd better get ready for the fight of your lives, as it very well may be." Raven spoke, almost to himself.

Raven then walked towards the center of town again and turned his head to face the sea.
-----------------------------------------
Cain was now gaining tremendous ground on his quarry, but he also noticed that he had been detected. No matter he though, for this only brought him ever closer to his prey, before slaying his brother he would deal with this unknown demonic man. And when he was slain he would deal with his 'little brother'.

Cain was now approaching via the sea, hoping to dodge the military units until he was already finished with the town of Vaid. As Cain proceeded ever nearer he began gathering gravity energy around himself.

Jake frowned. "Wierd story, but hey, who am I to judge." Though he made sure to show no animosity, Jake was somewhat rustled by the proselytistic intonation of Wylliam's voice. "Even so, I think you may be a little off with the 'wisdom' part of your speech."

Jake sighed and looked at Wylliam straight in the eye. "Do you really think that fighting for such a pointless cause as power is wise? You're right, you have to watch who's in power, but why can't the people in power be a little more...I don't know, tolerant? What is it with world peace that makes people get into wars? They always think that they know best, and won't accept that there could be other, kinder and more peaceful, ways of going about change. War isn't the answer to everything."

He shook his head, clearing his mind somewhat. "Well, I can't judge anybody yet; I haven't heard the Aldebran cause. There are always three sides to a tale: two tales and a truth. Usually, the truth is the median between them." Jake wasn't usually intoned to this academic demeanour, but he was no fool or naive little child. He'd seen enough of the universe in the last 3 years to know that world peace was an unlikely option, especially in a primitive world like this one.

With a small laugh, Jake said, "Well, at least you guys don't have atomic bombs or quantum viruses."

"But, anyways, gramps and I are here because Sukani might have lackeys running around. Sukani is my gramps' brother, and he's been making chaos for more than two million years now. We're fighting him; he's a major threat to the universe."

Jake' ears twitched. He looked back at the clock tower. He saw a figure rising, one with Dragon-like wings. Jake smiled; Hera spotted something. The message came a second later.

Jake, Hera called through thought-speech. It seems that a group is going to be on the move; it looks like it has the same guy who was in that brawl the other night. Meet me near the inn. Jake sent an affirmative back, and watched as the shadow that was his grandfather shot through the air, heading back towards the inn to the north.

Looking at Wylliam, Jake said, "Alright, I've got to go. Come with. I'll jump the rooftops so you can keep pace; it doesn't look like you can fly." Jake crouched and shot off across the rooftops, running along the tops before he bounded to the next one, heading north.
