I've just listened through the ost after realizing that it had been several years since I played ffIX, and I gotta say, the ost is amazing. It is way better than the VIII ost, almost on par with VII. So I was thinking that I would post my favorites, and thought maybe you guys could post yours. here goes:

1. Terra( the one when you arrive in terra -BEAUTIFUL)
2. Crossing those hills (world map song)
3. Feel my blade ( the one when you fight on the stage)
4. Freya's theme
5. Decisive action - search for the Princess (it's in the name)

This is my top 5, but there were plenty more that could've made the list. these were just exceptional IMO

It's a brilliant soundtrack (though I love the OSTs for FFVIII and FFVII about as much) - I love the 'medieval' feel of a lot of the music. It's got a nicely mellow sound, and the music really evokes moments and locations in the game. My favourite pieces include:

The Place I'll Return To Someday
Jesters of the Moonless Sky
Over the Hill
Song of Memories
Oeilvert
Eiko's Theme
You Are Not Alone!

And of course it's all topped off with Melodies of Life :)

Hmm. I really enjoyed the piano version of Melodies Of Life. It sounds so 'floaty'. And also the background song of Ipsen's Castle and Treno.

EDIT: Nobuo outdid himself in FFIX. By far the best soundtrack for me.

I agree, the style he used is also very fitting, considering the story and the setting. BUt I still miss that "epic feeling" from some of his songs. Sure, there are many awesome themes but when I listen to the Shinra Building song from FFVII and compare with most FFIX songs, I get the feeling that there's something missing. I don't know what I'm looking for, but by all means the ost is near perfect! still, y'all prolly get me

I love the OST by far one of the best in the series my favorites are:

You're Not Alone(my favorite, one of the best FF tracks ever)
Rose of May
Protecting my devotion
The Place I'll Return Someday
Freya's Theme.

There is a lot of memorable music on the OST, but probably my favorite is the intro music during the Start Screen. Sure it may be annoying and you hear it everytime you rev up a hardcore game of FFIX, but as soon as you hear that song, you instantly think of FFIX.

Also, Kuja's theme is pretty kick-ass.

My top 5 list from FFIX's OST goes like this:

1. You're not Alone
2. Melodies of Life
3. Black Mage Village
4. Dark Messenger
5. Battle Theme

Gotta love FFIXs soundtracks.

I have most, if not all of the final fantasy ost's ever made. I love Nobuo Uematsu! He. Is. A. Legend!

FFIX Favourites in no s'particular order are:

1) You're Not Alone
2) Bran Bal; Soulless Village
3) Feel My Blade
4) Tantalus Theme
5) Sword of Doubt

You know what... I Love Them All!! :D

Really love most of the FF IX soundtracks. They really fit in the locations, time and story. I think You're not alone is one of the best soundtracks in FF IX and it is best at giving out the story and emotions ;) Also melodies of life is one the most memorable tunes in that game. But overall I like everything in FF IX and soundtracks the most.

I loved every single piece in IX... But hey, if i had to make a choice..

1. Jesters of the Moon
2. Melodies of Life (Piano Version)
3. Roses of May (Beatrix's theme)
4. Fairy Battle (When you battle one of the spirits of Gaia)
5. Freya's Theme

I really love the IX soundtrack! A very classic, medieval feel to many of the themes! Nobuo is an outstanding composer. I don't own the OST, unfortunately, but I always get absorbed in the music as I play.

Hmm, let's see...

1. You're not Alone
2. Loss of Me
3. Terra Theme
4. Freya's Theme
5. Vivi's Theme

There are many other's a I like, too. The boss battle music, the last battle music, Jester's of the Moon, and the song played at that one noble town (forgot what it was called :P) were all really good as well.

I like IX OST , but just can't get it so close to VII :P if i had to choose the 5 that i most liked i would say :

1. Rose of may
2. Song of memories
3. The place i'll return someday
4. You're not alone
5. Mistaken Love

This doesn't mean that i dnt like all the other ones :D
