The Chocobo Copter!

I found out earlier that they were possibly going to add this concept to FFIX.

The Chocobo Copter:

It obviously didn't make it into the final game, but I think that this is a really awesome idea.

Did anyone else know about this? Do you have any further information regarding it?

Why do you think they decided against it? Too cruel to the chocobos? Too hilarious to be taken seriously?

I think that's pretty awesome to be honest.
I didn't even know about it until you mentioned it like 20 minutes ago to me, i'm completely clueless about it. It looks like it would have been a great method of transportation, although they'd probably get people compaining about animal cruelty or something like that.

Even though chocobos have similar uses for the boats in FFX.
It looks awesome though. XD

Well, it's certainly a novelty and just something unusual compared to your usual airship. xD

I have never seen this before either. Poor chocobos though. It looks like a very unethical method of transportation and the poor Chocobos would have to rotate around extremely quickly to even get the thing up into the air. Look at their faces. Doesn't it make you want to say: "awww"?

I'll bet Cid would have been the one that came up with that idea.

I wasn't aware of it at all actually. On the one hand it does look pretty cool. On the other, it could be construed as Chocobo abuse.

The chocobos don't look very happy. I do agree it's a lot more creative than your conventional airship. xD

That's epic xD It makes me wonder if they have any other awesome concepts that didn't make it into the actual game

Still, I don't know how they would have pulled it off in the game... but it looks really interesting (albeit, cruel )

LOL........ That idea sounds cool... And the picture itself seems quite interesting to see in the game... Too bad it wasn't released ultimately. :\ In the end, we get only the classic air ships... Basically sea-faring ships with flight capabilities. Sigh

I guess they would all have to be level 4 (or whatever it was) chocobos so they can fly? and then you can only take off and land in the forests?

It looks like a pretty good idea but would a chocobo be able to fly long distance's. In most final fantasy games a chocobo fly's for a couple of seconds to a higher area so would it be able to carry an airship across continent's.

I would wonder if it' being flown by actual chocobos or machines. o_o I think I would like that concept as a plushie. Would most likely use it in a day care to put babies to sleep if they were to stare at it. Haha. But it would certainly be more unique than the usually expected airships in all of the FF games.

I'm probably in the minority here when I say, thank fuck they scraped that idea, I think it's just a little bit too much. Defo too sily to be taken seriously, I know there's quite a bit more of a light hearted feel with the characters (fish and hippo people) and the general scenery etc, but I think the choco-copter would just be taking it that bit too far into silliness...

I agree, this is just too silly. I'm glad it isn't in the game.
For one reason, they would need to level up all those chocobos, putting in lots of time and then build something for passengers to sit in... the things they did put in the game, are made to seem they were easier to create. And even though nothing really is realistic in a game with final fantasy as its title, this is just too much. I don't think its physically possible either.

Still cute though.. chocobos
