Tetsuya Nomura Details 1st Production Department Premier Conference [12/21]

Square Enix's big January briefing event saw a name change from "Fabula Nova Crystallis Conference" to "1st Production Department Premier" last week. But aside from the name we haven't gotten much in the way of details in terms of what product will be shown.

For some hints, we turn to Tetsuya Nomura, who shared a few comments on the event with Dengeki this week.

The event was originally scheduled for January 11 but was changed to January 18. This change was done due to timing associated with magazines, said Nomura.

Also changing from the original plan is the focus of the event. While Nomura said in past interviews that the event would target the press, it's now switched to a fan event.

We shared details on how attendees for the event's two showings are being selected yesterday. For that, and details on an internet stream, read this story.

The event will be attended by an unannounced MC as well as the staff of the various games. In between footage of the games, the staff will explain the product.

Video footage will be the main focus of the January event, said Nomura. He contrasted this to last week's Jump Festa event, where demos were the main focus.

Asked what games to expect at the event, Nomura said, "In addition to the Fabula Nova Crystallis related titles, there will be Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts 3D and Dissidia Duodicim Final Fantasy."

"Fabula Nova Crystallis" is the term for the general series that includes Final Fantasy XIII, Agito XIII, Versus XIII, and possibly other games as well.

Regarding Versus, Nomura said that main character Noctis will at last speak. Different from the image videos that we've seen until now, the Versus footage that's shown at the event will include actual footage from the game, said Nomura, although he warned that what we see will be before the visuals have been given a quality up.

"There will be plenty in terms of information and surprises," assured Nomura.

Also first time to speak, thats cool I suppose although it'll be japanese first xD.....it will also take some time for the footage to be put on the internet + Subs?

I dont really care for all those handheld titles..tbh they are ticking me off, even though they might be superb gameplaywise..I will never buy a handheld,,....

Agito does seem so awesome :ohoho:
I always loved SOME cliché aspects from Japan! Never gets old for me personally.

We'll see what the future brings.. :griin:

Playing at being a thing of great importance?

I hope this goes well and puts S-E in a positiver light again, to many name changes and this press conference could be come a laughing stock, that does not suit S-E interests or our own as fans.

It should go all right tho, looking forward to anything relating FFVSXIII....ANYTHING!
DD12 Im not so fussed about yet but Versus I/We need a brilliant game in the world.
Hopefully that Versus will fill the void?

Nah, Nomura announced not so long ago that the voice acting was underway so it'll be all new voicing we've not heard yet. :)

I'm starting to get the feeling though that Versus XIII may not be as important to this event as everyone hoped. We've gone from renaming the conference so that it can fit many more games in and then we've having new announcements and announcements made for other games, which probably aren't all that important.
 
Square Enix originally had this conference as Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Agito XIII only and now that other games will be shown we probably wont see that much out of Versus and Agito... Probably just some trailer that has gameplay footage and Ill hope to god the 2 games will be shown seperatley. What is so exciting about Noctis's voice anyway?

Also cali Noctis hasnt spoken yet if you ever pay attention to the articles :ffs:
 
To us, probably nothing since if it's only in Japanese then it pretty much means nothing to us. :wacky: If it's in English too then I think voice acting can essentially make or break a game, just imagine Uncharted with shit voice acting 8(

Nope. Up until now we have not heard any voice acting from Versus, just silent dialogue. It's nothing really that much to get excited about either. I can probably see the English version of the game with sub-average voice acting though. Still, at least they're onto the voicing stage or beyond. It took them long enough to, then later on we'll see just how much 6+ years of secretive work has paid off. :busta:
 
hmmm Noctis speaking?........well whatever his voice is like I'm sure its gonna sound VERY different to how its gonna be like in English..........I mean I'm not that familiar with the japanese language, and I have seen videos of FF games in japanese and sounds incredibly different to the english version.

Aside from that what are the chances of another title in the fabula nova crystallis? (I have a good feeling there gonna announce a game here, since they LOVE announcing games years before the release)
 
I suppose the big deal in terms of a VA is that Versus has come far along enough to start voice work. I dunno how game development works, but that's a decent milestone, right?

Yeah, no kidding. :lew:.

My thoughts on this are all good ones :ryan:. The fact that there's going to be some voices(or voice xD), it definitely means 2011 is a good estimated year that Versus will be released. I just need to get my lazy ass up, and get a ps3. :wacky:
 
Seems to me S-E's really throwing a gamble on this. It's either make it or break it on Versus. If the impression isn't strong enough even after all the 6+ years of Development Hell, well, it's one HUGE massive facepalm to all of us fans.

BTW, I hope they finally release the names of Noctis's three companions. It's getting on the nerves of countless fanfiction writers, yo.
