[T] Resident Evil Discussion [Game/movies]

It is, especially online.
I've spent many an hour joining random story mode games, i've done the main story so many times I could probably play it in my head. Yeah, i'm that sad. :andry:

I kinda wanna play RE3 now... XD

I think I'll definitely get it at some point. In comparison to my other games, there's nothing generally scary. It's on offer at quite a lot of places, including Tesco and Asda. It'll be inevitable that I have to add that last game to the game wrack. :andry:

The original Resident Evil is renowned for being a masterpiece to many, although the voice acting is some of the worst ever heard. The thing is, it's that bad it's funny, but not in a bad way.

The original concept of Resident Evil (Or Biohazard in Japan) was taken using the influence of a game named Sweet Home, which had a very similar setting.
Mikami was asked to make a game just like it, or one of a similar nature at least.
So he did, the original ideas had the enemies / plot focusing around phantoms, ghosts and such. Then the idea of a basic zombie was implemented instead (I assume, possibly from George. A. Romero) and that's the Resident Evil we know today.

It was new to players, they didn't know what to expect. You could see the corpses slowly shambling towards you, mainly in packs but you always thought that you'd be able to get them before they reach you.
You shoot, they get closer and they start a formation around you, or towards you; limiting your options.
Then there's only one thing you do: panic.

:ryan:

Inoerite? That put me off getting far in RE1 when I was a kid, and don't get me started on RE3 :gonk:

(though in fairness, I only remember the battle with Nemesis out of what I think was the Police Station :wacky: need to remember Shotgun>Rifle on the bastard :monster:)

I don't think you could have a rifle outside the police station, unless you were cheating. :hmmm: I'm pretty sure you can get a shotgun on the way there, but not a rifle. ... actually, the only rifle type thing I can think of is an assault rifle.. or whatever the fuck it is Carlos has.

Speaking of Carlos, he has the same voice as Zexion. :ryan:

And on the voice acting... You were almost a Jill sandwich :monocle:

Here's a lockpick. You, the Master of Unlocking, should be able to put it to good use. :monster:

Oh how bad

And i'm sure I had some form of semi automatic weapon by that point, unless there's a battle outside another kind of building? :hmmm:

Well, if you were playing on easy (I think RE3 has an easy mode, it's been a while) you may've had the assault rifle. But easy isn't for gaming gods. :-)wacky:)

There's a battle outside of the clock tower too, but I would assume you'd remember that, the whole area's on fire and
Jill gets tentacle raped, basically
afterwards.

And, you don't even HAVE to fight him outside of the police station. :8F: You can just run inside, unless you want Brad's STARS card.. which you don't need really, since you can pick Jill's up inside.

If you had the Semi-Auto rifle you were playing on Easy, otherwise it comes from Nemesis' 6th kill or something along the lines.

Also, no Damon, the Shotgun's not the best choice at all for him. Handgun is bar far the best choice earlier on since it has a fire rate far greater than the Shotgun. Later on the Grenade Launcher / magnum are sufficient enough but the shotgun takes too long to recoil. :rage:

But it has good stopping power, so it's good if you're shit (like I was at the time) :hmmm:

I do find that odd with RE games how a pistol is normally the best choice to take down a huge boss :wacky:

Actually, the Shotgun has terrible stopping power when Nemesis is concerned, if you play it and shoot him. Sure, he'll stagger a bit but he'll be grabbing Jill's neck faster than you can say sandwich. :mokken:

The magnum's a bit off in that regard too, it's good but it takes ages to fire.
Grenade Launcher is the way to go, and with Freeze Rounds it just makes him look like a joke to be honest.

Oh magnums, how I loathe thee :sad3:

In RE5 I only used them with unlimited ammo, even on bosses the things are too unreliable, even with the power :jtc:

I never use infinite ammo on RE5, even on Pro. It makes it so dull. D:
magnums aren't really my favourite weapon of choice, on RE5 I always have a pistol, rifle, shotgun and grenade launcher.

The partner I have (if AI) just carries stuff and has a machine gun to keep them happy, if it's a person then they can have anything really. If I met someone online who's just blasting everything with an infinite Hydra though, it ruins interest for me and I just end up leaving.

Ya, I know the feeling, plus I have 999 of all ammo types so I don't NEED infinite

I normally go with the handgun, shotgun, rifle and machine gun tbh :hmmm: could probably go without machine gun since shotgun covers crowd control.

machine guns are awful outside of mercs, I only give them to Chris (I always use Sheva) so then he doesn't start running up to stuff trying to knife it.

Grenade launchers are a great help, Flash Rounds can stop Reapers in their tracks, leaving them open to attack, they're cheap (600 gold / currency for 12 I think) and they work well on manjini.

Nitrogen rounds are by far my favourite though, they can instantly freeze and manjini within the shot radius, leaving them open to a melee or a single shot kill, it even works on Lickers too.

Lickers :kinky:

But ya, I just never got too keen on Grenade Launchers, dunno why since it's so effective :sad3:

They have so many different types of ammo, there's a situation for each of them, honestly Damon. :mokken:

Grenade Launchers can help quite a lot, especially in
the Jill battle of 5-3, a direct Nitrogen round hit won't damage her, but it'll leave her open for a few seconds.

I've played that part so many times I basically know it word for word / in my head. :ryan:

I want RE5, stop talking about it :sad3: /kidding

Seriously though, I DO want it, despite knowing most of the plot. <.> Blonde Jill :8F: Sheva looks awesome too, really... I never was a Chris fan though. Leon, yes, Billy, oh god yes... even Carlos, yes... but not so much Chris. I think it's because he can't use a lock pick in RE1 and has to use those AWFUL keys. awful ._.

I think the Old Keys in RE1 on Chris' scenario and in RE2 in Leon's scenario ruin it for me, not only does he only have 6 item slots (Chris only) as opposed to Jill's 8, he also has to carry keys around, keys that take up the same space as a rocket launcher?!

It's not so bad once you know the game, the patterns and where everything is, but until then it's a bloody nightmare.

Oh god, I forgot Leon had those. I rarely did his scenario though, I love Claire's. <3 Claire <333 ... though, I can't pick between Claire and Jill. both of them are awesome. :sad3:

And Billy's my favorite male, no surprise. :wacky: I think I have the UC RE0 scenario memorized. Watch your step, princess. Don't call me princess! :ryan:
