OMFG, I'm so excited!

March 30, 2008 - Square Enix announced today what fans have wanted and expected since Square Enix premiered their PS3 tech demo of Final Fantasy VII back in 2005. A remake of the most popular RPG to ever be made is officially in the works, and is due for a November 2009 release.

Shocked by the fan response of their tech demo, Square Enix executives have made mention many a time over the past couple of years that no plans for a remake of Final Fantasy VII had even been considered when they made the tech demo, and they were shocked that people had jumped to such conclusions given their previous tech demos for new gaming technologies involving older Final Fantasy titles.

Square Enix Senior Vice President, Michihiro Sasaki, commented, "The response was unexpected by everyone at the company. There was nothing like it when we premiered our Final Fantasy VIII tech demo of the PS2, and even the expectations built from our Final Fantasy VI tech demo of the Nintendo 64 were that the next installment would be on that system, which it wasn't. A remake had never even been thought of before when it came to our tech demos, but the response of fans worldwide forced us to reconsider."

Square Enix admits to have been working on the remake since August of 2007, and that it has been made easier for them as they are using the same graphics engine they are using for the two PS3 Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII titles. This brought up the question of a different battle system, but when asked about it, Square Enix refused to comment further saying, "We'll be releasing more information at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo."

This is going to be SOOOOOOO friggin' awesome!
I can't believe this is finally going to be a reality!

...April Fool's? xD I just a bit of research on google on this and got to that conclusion.

Meh, but who knows, right? I know I'm certainly looking forward to a remake.

FFXIII Playable Demo, FFVII PS3 Remake CONFIRMED

Update: Most of you have probably figured it out by now, but of course, we have to toss it out there-
APRIL FOOL'S!
We apologize for getting your hopes up, but it's all in good fun. And remember, nobody would want this to be true more than your friends at PSXE...we just wanted to see what it looks like in print. We may never be able to write a valid story containing these exact words - as sad as that is - so we took advantage. Heh...forgive us?

Original Story:

If you're a Square-Enix fan, you're well aware of their penchant for including high-profile demos for future titles in current retail releases. For example, you will recall the playable Final Fantasy XII demo we found in Dragon Quest VIII. Therefore, we figured it would only make sense to see something similar with The Last Remnant, S-E's first next-gen offering that should be available later this year. So we started digging...but we didn't expect to find this.
According to a reliable source at SCEJ, Square-Enix has something big planned for The Last Remnant's release. Or rather, they have two "something bigs" planned. First up: they will be including a 22-minute playable demo of Final Fantasy XIII with the PS3 version of The Last Remnant. This demo lets us play through a section of FFXIII that doesn't occur until a good 20 hours into the game, which leads us to believe the developers are progressing nicely. Heck, they might even be ahead of schedule. Now, you may figure that this is the biggest detail we uncovered, but it's not. Oh, it's really, really not.
Not long ago, Eat Sleep Play confirmed what so many fans have been waiting for, and that's a Twisted Metal project for the PlayStation 3. They did this by embedding a simple code - easily cracked - during the end credits of the PSP's Twisted Metal: Head-On. Well, it seems Square-Enix is taking a page from their book because at some point during The Last Remnant (we don't know exactly when), we will get undisputed confirmation that the long-awaited and oft-speculated-upon Final Fantasy VII remake for the PS3 will arrive in 2009! Square-Enix just got finished saying that the FFVII Compilation isn't complete, and clearly, this is the final title. It's exactly what we've been waiting for, too! Wooo!
It was posted yesterday though. I figured that other sites probably did the same prank.

olol, I was gunna ask where this info came from and point out that even I remember its April Fools day :wacky:

This is like... the stupidest thing ever to take advantage of. Eveyone is automatically going to look at you and say you're full of shit if you even utter it. :wacky:

It's honestly amazing how people think that the FFVII comilation will end with a remake. It's just.. really stupid. Like they don't even read any interviews with any of the developers.

The compilation won't end with a remake, because the flaming pile of faggotry that's known as DoC has to have some kind of closure, which was not delivered thanks to Genesis' brief appearance in the secret ending.

Question, though. Wtf is DoC: the lost episode? I could be wrong here, and I really can't be arsed to search for this bollockery. smry pl0z.

I have not gota clue, I wondered myself, but like you,I couldn't be arse finding out

You just know there's gunna be several more sequels to it though -_-

As for the remake, they might as well just get the feck on with it, I just want it over with and put to rest dammit but NO, it has to carry on til Im in my BLOODY thirties :stare:

Vincent attacks a monster.

Dirge of Cerberus Lost Episode: Final Fantasy VII (ダージュ オブ ケルベロス ロスト エピソード -ファイナルファンタジーVII-, Dāju obu Keruberosu Rosuto Episōdo -Fainaru Fantajī Sebun-?) is a Japanese third person shooter role-playing game was co-developed by Square Enix and Ideaworks3D, and published by Square Enix. Unveiled at '06, the game was released on August 18 in North America. First only available on Amp'd mobile phones, the game was eventually also made available on Verizon's V Cast network. It was also unveiled as a flagship title for NTT DoCoMo’s Foma 903i handset at the 2006 Tokyo Game Show. The title initially released a single player mode, with a multiplayer function launching at a later date.
Lost Episode reveals a missing chapter of Dirge of Cerberus taking place between two events of the latter. It involves the adventures of Vincent struggling to save the world from the evil Deepground Soldiers, a mysterious army of soldiers. Three years after Meteorfall from the original Final Fantasy VII, the world is threatened by the Deepground soldiers, a mysterious army of bloodthirsty warriors. Vincent Valentine learns that the soldiers are searching for him in the hopes of harvesting the Protomateria from his body. He decides to investigate the Shinra Mansion in an effort to uncover the truth about his own past—and the mystery behind the Protomateria as well. Reeve Tuesti's goal is to find information on the DG written by Dr. Lucrecia Crescent. On his way to the mansion, his chopper is attacked by the Deepground. He survives and makes his way to the Shinra Manor, fighting countless Deepground Soldiers and destroying a DG battle bot.
Doesn't sound any different. xD

Derek raises an excellent point.

olol you sound like me on coffee, come again? :wacky:

DoC wasn't THAT bad, I just think because it's FPS it automatically fails, it wasn't a very good one by FPS standards (TS2 anyone?) but it was ok....

This is a terrible April Fool's Joke... ;___;
I hate this stupid so-called holliday! ;__;

Boooo. I'm seriously waiting for this to happen. All this FFVII compilation crap has my fingers tingling. X__x

Well, personally I couldn't play the original completely due to certain situations beyond my control. This remake however, will make it much easier and accessible for those who haven't played or finished the game.

I am looking forward to this, and if it's just a rumor, then sure it is a good April Fool's joke. :gasp:

Moved to Final Fantasy Fun

Come on! It's news on April fools, of course it's going to be a joke. =P

LMAO ROFL @ DARK LUSI... the art of sobbing is so funny.. To use that as a Joke is unoriginal and very untactful to do that to most of the fans who i wouldn't put it out of my head are probably cutting themselves to redirect the pain to a lesser form..lol
