Square Enix: Nomura to “cause an impact” at E3 next week [6/8]

Tetsuya Nomura is set to light up E3 with the reveal of a new Kingdom Hearts title next week. But there may just be more than that on the way from him at the show. SE producer Shinji Hashimoto has tweeted once again on the firm’s Japanese Members account, saying this time that with him and Nomura in LA next week, “an impact” will be made at the show.

“This E3, because director Nomura is accompanying me, I think we can deliver information that will [cause] an impact,” according to the tweet made by Hashimoto, translated by SCRAWL. That tweet could possibly be meant for the new Kingdom Hearts title, yes. But it could also be meant for other things Nomura is working on. Final Fantasy Versus XIII, for one: he’s directing it after all.

He’s also character designer on The 3rd Birthday and Final Fantasy Agito XIII. Those two could be heading for a western reveal. There might be some stuff not yet revealed as well: Nomura has said there’s still unannounced stuff to be revealed between E3 and winter.

Square Enix hasn’t actually announced a press conference yet for E3, but has held one in the past two years after massive announcements at the show. In 2008, soon after announcing FFXIII for 360, Hashimoto and game producer Yoshinori Kitase were at a Q&A session immediately after the reveal. Last year, after the reveal of Final Fantasy XIV, the firm held a similar Q&A for the MMO.

Some lousy Kingdom Hearts vogue spin-off for portable crap can't cause any impact for it's life. The only thing Square can cause impacts with is Final Fantasy... so I dunno, Final Fantasy XV compilation online for Wii.
 
The only thing the Wii is really good for is that very rare third party game that isn't shit. (Very rare indeed.) And Nintendo games such as Mario and Zelda. If I ever bought a Wii, it would be only for Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and things like that. Other than that... The Wii is pretty shit. So I doubt very seriously it's going to be anything for the Wii. :hmmm:
 
On the topic of the next KH game, it won't be on the Wii according to them. They did say for unannounced KH games that they're not considering branching out onto other consoles such as the iPhone, Wii or Xbox 360. So I would see it being on DS, PSP or the PS3.

Here's what would "cause an impact" at E3 in my opinion:

  • Actual gameplay footage of Versus (about time too)
  • If Versus remains PS3 exclusive xD
  • More of Agito
  • More of 3rd Birthday
  • New Kingdom Hearts (preferably KHIII, but it won't happen this year)
  • Valkyrie Profile 3
  • A new Chrono game
But....half of that probably won't happen, so I won't let my expectations get any higher. :andry:
 
I really hope Nomura reveals alot about Versus. Like new characters and gameplay and actually footage of the airship in game. Also Valkyrie profile III I rember when that news came. I almost went outside and screamed my heart out. So it might be on ps3.360 and same for versus. But versus better stay ps3 exclusive. My ps3 needs more love.
 
:hmmm: This could be one of three things.
1. Final Fantasy Versus XIII
2. Some newer KHII spin off
3. Something to do with VII.
I'm betting it's something already loved that will cause an impact at E3. Versus looks promising but SE can't claim it's that big yet, especially since nobody has played it yet.

So it's between KH series and the never ending VII compilation. :mokken: Lets hope it's good either way xD
 
As much as I hate to say it, its probably going to be Versus XIII for the 360. I have no problems with it being on the 360 per say. It's just all the rumors about things being cut (which I believe) and the port being not up to par (which is odd since they have much more experience with the 360 than the ps3), it makes me feel like it will not be a good thing for the game. Plus it helped FFXIII sell more, so Wada will be all over wanting it multi.

It could be a VII remake for the PSP (which I would love) or even a ps3/360 version. That would cause people to get excited. It wont be exclusive since Id say while there are more RPG fans who own a PS3, a good bit who played 7 have 360's as well.
 
Hrm... Isn't there still a game that Nomura announced a while ago, but didn't really say anything about it... a game that's supposed to shock and amaze us, similar to Project X, but it was talked about quite a few months ago before Project X came up?

Or maybe that was 3rd Birthday...
 
I'm actually willing to keep my eye on whatever news it is if Nomura's involved. People can talk as much shit as they want about S-E in general, but it's really Nomura's stuff that keeps me on board with S-E myself.

But wait, I'm confused - so it's a fact that another KH title will be revealed at E3? Absolutely sure about this? :huh:

Well, if it is, then I can only think of seeing more Versus footage. I think Agito is the last thing that'll be released in terms of the "Fabula" series, so Versus is likely. Although 3rd Birthday hasn't had much news in a really long time, so I guess it's due for some new info :hmmm:
 
so what exactly did Nomura do at E3? I didnt hear anything from SE that we didnt already pretty much know
 
Unless they mean KH3D, I don't remember them unveiling some new KH game :hmmm:

I wish they did, it may have saved Sony's fail at their conference. KH3D does look like it may be good, even though I have no idea where it could fit in the storyline :hmmm:
 
SE was disappointing in E3 this year. Even Nomura was disappointing and that's quite a thing to say seeing as I usually try and find reasons to praise the guy.

The things from SE that had the most impact from me were trailers of The 3rd Birthday and the prospect of a new Kingdom Hearts 3DS game and Re:Coded for the normal DS. And......that's it. They didn't even make that much of an impact on me either.

Versus didn't seem to emerge in any way, shape or form either, completely throwing my prediction to hell. Is it too much nowadays to get a glimpse of something new from Versus or Agito?

Like Olivia said... nothing really. A bit of a disappointment IMO, but to be honest, I wasn't expecting much. All I can do now is dream for another Chrono game. :sad3:

I was really thinkin' it was gonna be a FFVI or VII remake. Damn you Nomura.
 
Well Versus would have been plenty more awesome than a KH handheld game. I'm not bashing the actual title announced, but I really was hyped for something more impressive *sighs*
