I saw a thread like this but it was in the Ruins so I don't think it counts. Plus that one doubled as a wedding song thread and I don't give a fuck about 'dat.

What songs, if you were given the option of choosing, would you like to have played at your funeral? Mine would be:

Sid Vicious - My Way

I'd play this song because this is the only version of this song I like. Plus, I get a laugh out of it whenever I'm feelin' blue. Drug induced careers are funny.

Valhalla Awaits Me - Amon Amarth

This songs more for me. Probably because if Valhalla is real, I'd much rather go there than Heaven. It would just be so much more epic to go to the Viking afterlife. I think so anyway.

The Spirit Carries On - Dream Theater

I'd probably want atleast one serious song played. And this'd be it. It's calming and fits a "deathy" atmosphere.

Mystery - Dio

Shit, I almost forgot my favorite song of all time.

:hmmm:

I'm not sure about having a playlist for songs. But I know at least two songs I would like to be played.

1. Call of Kthulu, Metallica: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWGOEWdV13M

2. Feast of Friends, The Doors: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWlwOZkp1Fg

I would use the Metallica song for the "moments of silence" part, though it wouldn't be silent with the song playing. And I'd play The Doors song as they lower me into the ground. Of course, this would be cool to add a dramatic effect, but I'm not sure if I would even want music playing. I don't want people to get sad when they hear a certain song that reminds them that I'm dead.

I know I mentioned this in another thread a few years ago. I would like to have the song Annie Laurie playing at my funeral. First heard the song when I was 4 or 5 when watching the anime "Cedie" otherwise known as "Little Lord Fauntleroy".

Choir version:

...I really should write this down in one of my journals so that my loved ones would know about it. Otherwise they might play one of those overrated songs and I wouldn't be able to do anything about it once I'm dead. :hmmm:

My songs

Nothing Else Matters:Because that's how I feel about my family and friends
Komm Susser Todd:Because i freaking love this song!!!!
Last in Line:again, love this song
Einherjar:because i believe i will go to freaking Vallhall!!!!!!!

MOD EDIT: Can you please put more effort into your post? A few video links won't suffice as a full post. Tell us whey you choose these songs. Thank you.

*video heavy post warning!*

I could take the route of Eddie Hazel and have Maggot Brain be played at my funeral. It's a pretty powerful song from an emotional standpoint, in my opinion.

Almost anything from Marty Friedman's CD's "Introduction" or "Scenes". Marty is my favorite guitarist of all time and the emotion in his solo stuff is amazing. These are the ones I'd prefer most.

And the last suggestion I would make would have to be Altitudes by Jason Becker. Another song with a nice emotional sound, and another epic guitarist.

But hopefully nobody is listening to this at my funeral anytime soon.

Bah, I have a lot actually, but I will keep is short I suppose!

I don't want anything to rockish or too sad, just something that lightens the mood. And the songs I will post fit that description perfectly (for me at least), though they can be extremely sad sounding...

1. How the West was Lost, by Sacred Spirit. Absolutely beautiful.

2. Yeha Noha, by Sacred Spirit. Another absolutely beautiful song. The lyrics are a little more happy though, but not much. (It is about a giant stealing the ball lol)

If I were to die. I would like this song be played at my funeral:

To me. my dying wish is for a World where Everyone got along to some Extent. So i feel this song Signifies my last wish. and Dream for it to happen. It Alerts people that We could all get along. So I want this song played when i die. in hopes that people can Understand That We shuld Try for Total Word peace. however unlikely it might be.

I would like Born This Way played at my funeral just for the situational irony. :wacky:

But seriously, I 'd probably have:

Landslide -Fleetwood Mac
It's such a beautiful song that could easily be about death and moving on. I would use the live version from Nick's Crystal Visions with the Ochrestra though. Beautiful. I think it would make you cry and comfort you as well.

I may edit in a video later.

"Into the West" by Annie Lennox. I'm a huge LOTR fan and I think this would be amazingly epic. It's a song that has always touched me, and it's sort of about that subject anyway.

I'm not sure if I'd want any music, but if were to request some,Free Bird(played live at my uncle's funeral),One(Metalica),and to Zanarkand would be some likely selections. Two of those contain the distinct possibility of making people depressed and the third could be a bit too metal for the elderly attendents, but, who cares.

I'd have Asleep by the Smiths.
It's probably the most sad/depressing song I've heard. I want everybody to feel like shit at my funeral. That song would certainly do it. It's also a very beautiful song and one of my favourites.

Frankie Teardrop by Suicide. It's a very unpleasant aural experience, it's a lot of silence, with screams thrown in here and there. It's 10 minutes long and none of those ten minutes will make any of the few mourners feel nice.

Ventilator Blues by the Rolling Stones. This will be very amusing if was being kept alive by a ventilator.

It's Friday by Rebecca Black.
My last joke on the world. This will play on repeat just to annoy everyone at my funeral.

Dearly Beloved from Kingdom Hearts and To Zanarkand from FFX
Those two songs definitely have to be played, but i mean its not like i'll be able to enjoy them :(

When I die, I want a Viking Funeral. You know, the funeral where they send you out to sea, throw some flammable oil on you, and someone shoots a flaming arrow at you and lights you on fire. I've always like the concept.

Once the ceremony starts, I only want one song to play, and I want everyone at the funeral to start bursting out laughing once they hear it. :mokken:

Go ahead, keep a straight face when you light my corpse on fire with this song playing, I dare you.

All in all, I want people to laugh and have a good time at my funeral. Mourning sucks balls and is for casuals. :griin:
