I was resting as usual on my bed, my right ear was against my pillow and I was taking too much time to fall asleep. Suddenly, I feel asleep and I was dreaming. In my dream I went to my grandmother's house and my cousin and another tall woman were in there. The lights of the balcony were off, so I opened the door with the key and went to the living room. In there the lights were off two, only the TV was on and a small light on the kitchen. My cousin and that tall woman were there, but there were no signs of my grandmother. Suddenly I had the urge to leave my cousin and the tall woman asked me to stay but I kept wanting to go, and when I tried to turn the lights of the living room I couldn't. Then I tried with the lights of the balcony and those didn't work either. Then I rememberer that I left the house open and when I saw through the door, I couldn't see much, everything was too dark. The dream did not end there. Suddenly I was in my room again, sleeping with my right ear against the pillow and then I heard a voice. The voice was dark, almost distorted, I can't describe it so well. I could only tell a few words but I couldn't understand most of them. The point is that I awoke and I realized that when I heard the voice I was not asleep. I can't tell if I was hallucinating but it did scared the shit out of me. I couldn't move, I was paralyzed from head to toe. None of my muscles responded to the command to "move" and I literally struggled to get off the bed to sit down and analize what the hell had just happened.
Right now it's 2:40 AM, I must leave to school at 7:00 AM and I can't sleep, in fact I don't want to sleep.

The dream must have a meaning, I am sure of it. Maybe I am paranoid but I rarely have these types of dreams and when it does, bad things happen. A few days ago my brother disappeared for several hours and he didn't appear 'till 12:30 AM. My parents were scared, I was normal because I knew nothing wrong could actually happen. Now I remember that my father had a dream and that I heard him talking during sleep, he sounded scared, a day before my brother's little joke.

I wish I could know the meaning of my dream. Shit maybe I am exaggerating but it's not funny and it's less funny not being able to sleep. That dream actually scared sleep away from me.

Well, if you heard the voices as soon as you pulled yourself out of the dream, then your subconscious was probably still active. I've had several cases where I was half awake and still heard things occurring in the dream I was just in. These eventually faded as I became fully awake.

The voices are nothing to be scared over, Julius. Just your subconscious messing with your head. You'll be fine.

Just in case, I called my grandmother and she said she was fine. (Oh and I live really close to my grandmother and I knew she was awake too so that's why I called) I was worried and besides she's been telling me she hasn't been feeling so well these days...maybe I just got two worried. I know the cruel truth that she won't last forever....can't avoid not wanting her to die.

Death sucks...

Yeah, like you say. It must be my head messing with me.

hmm. that sort of thing does make you wonder. The voice was most likely in your dream. even if you were partly awake. you were still in the REM stage of slepp most likely. and the fact you couldn't move is actually normal. It is call sleep paralysis. where you are practically asleep, but have complete awreness of your surroundings, but you have no control over your body. It used to happen to me actually. not so much anymore.

Like Shen said, it's your subconcious mind. The not moving... I experienced that a couple times last year. I was told that it's basically when your mind awakes but your muscles and nervous system don't for a few minutes.

Nothing to be worried about as far as I know, amigo. :P

Thanks, if I had talked about this with my grandma, since she is extremely religious, she would say that my house was hunted. Alas, science makes me feel better and gives a reasonable explanation to everything, well almost everything. Anyway, that sleep paralysis sucks, I sure hope it doesn't happens during a fire...

maybe thats what caused you to have this dream, espicially if you have been thinking about her a lot.

The dream must have a meaning, I am sure of it
sometimes a cigar is just a cigar if you know what i mean, dreams dont have to have deeper meanings, we as humans just want them to

Yeah, that's happened to me a few times. It certainly feels strange at the time of it happening.

nah it shouldn't. considering that if you were in a fire your heartrate will increase and your body would recieve a quik jump start. plus even if your house was haunted there shouldn't be much of a problem. Angry ghosts are not common. most hauntings that I have heard of are of ghosts doing things when they think they are alone.

I've read about "sleep paralysis" and it explains why it was so frightening. It only happened three times during my whole life (counting this one). It says that one cause can be too much stress provoked by work or other factors. I admit I've been quite stressed these days...lacking sleep...

Don't worry, I've been in a state of paralysis before right after sleeping, as well. Those are usually called 'waking dreams.'

I had a dream where I was being strangled, and woke up, paralyzed, to find my blanket was wrapped too tight around my neck, but I was frightened and couldn't move a muscle. After about 8 seconds or so, I was able to move, and was fine after that.

It's just a bit of a delay in nerve response. Your brain still thinks you're sleeping, and with suddenly waking like that, it might take a few seconds to switch gears.

Oh so this explains why you are awake at this hour. I do not think I have ever experienced anything like sleep paralysis. But I have had some weird dreams. Yes some upsetting enough to keep me awake for the rest of the night. I may of experienced and just forgot.

As for why I am awake now. I usually wake up around this time every night. But some of the times I just go back to sleep. Some I go on the net for an hour or so.

Yes, dreams are just that dreams. Dreams can be a recollection of your past as well.

Ok, I was obnoxious when I was a little kid. I was arrogant, I had the ability to make a person think he/she is wrong and that I was always right with clever talk.
I was rock hearted kid, didn't get along with most of my age and always had my head stuck in studies.

I changed though, I treat others fairly and have a good reputation of helping others out with advice and solutions to their problems. Also these sleep paralysis episodes occurred once when I was 13, when I swore I had seen something watching me. Then when I was 16 I had another episode and I remember having a lot of stress and lack of sleep during that week, and I dreamed I was trying to escape from a huge labyrinth and that I couldn't get any help.

The third one was described above...

Anyhow, I am going to school at 7:00AM so I might as well stay awake.

The same thing happened to me this morning as well as the feeling of falling even though i knew i was on solid flooring.I was worried the same as you but I asked my dad and he said excactly the same as you guys its just sleep paralysis and you subconcious miind messing with you.

It's not the paralysis that scares me...is the feeling of believing that there might be something else with you. I remember not wanting to go back to my room after that.

I've read somewhere around here that Mitsuki had that same experience as well.
