New to this forum so thought I'd post a bunch of my sigs, some are recent, others are quite old. All done on photoshop.

And before anyone says, I post on other forums under the names "shinobi" & "shinobi flux".

So, c&c anyone?

1st one: I like how the Solider is blended well, but the BG is kinda rough somehow.

2nd one: You should have let more than her face to show in the tag like shoulders, and the BG is kinda messy :/

3rd one: I like the BG it's kinda simple and pretty good but I don't think the render is blended well with the BG.

4th one: It's kinda messy but however I kinda like it will the fire thing and al.

5th one: I would say no to this tag, it's just smudging really :/ and just like I said in Yuna's tag about the render.

6th and 7th: They kinda the same style but with different colors, though Balmung tag colors doesn't fit, however the girl tag is kinda pretty. ^^

8th and 9th: Nothing really in that picture maybe just blurring duplicating layer and then a blend mode.

10th one: I actually have no Idea what's that. O_O

And I would like to point something in your tags and that is: you use text very much try and not use it every time, also try Gradient Maps, Photo Filters.

Sorry if you feel I was harsh or something but that's only so you can get better. :/

I'd say that the first one is the best but the stock is almost discernible from the background. I noticed you opted to go for the smudged effect in a lot of your works, just try to broaden your horizons a bit and test out other effects and other ways of composing your background with various blending techniques and filters and brushes and whatever else you feel like throwing into the mix.

I see you tried a totally different approach with the third one there but the fractal render in the background looks untouched to me, like you've just placed it there and left it. Another thing I noticed is your borders are generally thick and they stand out a lot, particularly in the last two. Try making them thinner and blending them in.

Other than those points I think you have potential, all you need to do is stick to it and try as many different approaches as you can. Strive to broaden your horizons and you'll be as good as you want to be in no time at all.

Yeah the 6th and 7th are basically the same, I made them one after the other, I made a third after those two aswell.

lol, the 8th & 9th have more layers than most of them up there, though it does look like I haven't done much. Followed a tut for those two, didn't really help lol.

I actually hate text, really don't like using it, try not to most of the time. Gradient maps, all of them apart from the Yuna one have atleast 2 gradient maps used. Mostly use the black and white set at luminisoty or color dodge (drop the opacity) as for photo filters, I used them loads when I first started, kinda just stopped using them these days though.

I see great potential.

Keep working at it, and you'll get better really fast.

Thanks. :)

Thanks. Been following a few tuts lately on different things so will hopefully help out with different styles.

You're quite good, I see a variety of style there. I wish I can smudge properly, but I just don't have the knack for it. I like the 4th one the best as it's very appealing to the eyes. I noticed that you don't really resize your render and just shows the head without neck an shoulders. That's actually quite unappealing to many GFX artists, so I suggest resizing the renders to where it shows some of her body parts beside just the face. Other than that, just keep practicing, although I can tell you've already got potential and skills. Hope to see more work from ya'!

By the way, how long have you been using Photoshop?

Been using it for a while to be fair, but my laptop died on me, so didn't have it for about 10months or so, only recently got it back, so just been refreshing my memory and learning new things past few weeks. From the 6th one onwards are my most recent, done in the past couple of weeks.

Try cutting out more from your stocks than just the head of a character. Floating head syndrome is unappealing. You should also work on not making your text stick out so much (like on the second to last one). You've gotten noticeably rusty between 6 and the last one. XD

I don't really have much else to say...

Mitsuki is right, I don't even see a common pattern. :neomon:

My favorite would have to be your 8th creation. Its very soft but edgy at the same time. I also like the fourth one for it gives me the feeling of being engulfed in flames. :wacky:

I don't like the 1st, 2nd and 7th. For me, it lacks personality. I wish the stock would stand out more.

For the rest of the signatures, I second Kei.

But, you know, I really see a great GFX artist in you (plus the fact that its only been 10 months!), so just keep at it.

Go you! ^_^

Whoa that Vincent one is really big. o.o But I like the effects there, although it's simple. I can feel a certain "flow" to it due to how you made the red BG style. The rest are pretty decent, although they could certainly use more work. I do like your 4th one a lot though. Nice blending there and it certainly looks quite creepy. The rest of the BG looks a little too plain...perhaps adding a bit more color to it would've been better. Overall though, pretty damn good. =]

Thanks. :)

Yeah, the Vincent one is pretty big. I sometimes make sigs twice the size, then resize them when I'm finished, I like working on bigger canvasses with certain renders, find it easier.

I used to find it easier working with large canvases too. xD

Anyway, your stuff is generally decent, there's a lot of variety in there as well. There are a few that catch my eye mainly because of the way you've used light as a prominent factor in the background.

Good stuff overall. Keep on it. :monster:

Your best one is the Yuna tag,it's quite different and if you worked on it again to improve it,it'll turn out into a great tag.
I don't like your borders.Don't much some sigs because they don't need it.Your text and where you replace it needs working. For example in the third tag(which doesn't need a border at all),the text could've been placed closer to the stock and in a different font.

*Also the Vincent tag has great potential and if it was a little smaller.

I agree with Qiao, if you hadn't lost the PSD for the Vincent sig and made it smaller it could have really gone places. =/
Although with borders it bugs me sometimes when people don't have them, unless they're like Qiao's then you don't need them :P
You should try borders with them just on the top and bottom and no borders on the side to see how they turn out, and don't worry about the font most people don't get it right...and I still don't 90% of the time. :wacky:

Keep up the good work though.

I think even though it's unfinished, I spent the most time I ever have on it, tried recreating the effect from Advent Children where he flies in and saves Cloud's butt lol.

With borders I just apply image then use "stroke" never really considered doing it any other way before. Will try and be abit better with borders now though. :)

I actually hate text/fonts on sigs lol, only really put it on there to prove I made it lol.

Thanks, will take what you've said on board. :D

Going to work through a few tuts me thinks, learn some new stuff. :)

Just done this, tried using a different type of border like suggested, what you think?
