So I've been sick for almost two weeks now

Taking medicine generally prolongs sickness because they suppress symptoms, which aids in the removal of the illness.
If I were you, I'd take a multivitamin and eat something with a lot of zinc in it, like cereal or cold-ease drops.
Fever-reducers are okay, but instead of taking cold/flu medicine, sweat it out or take a hot shower to clear the throat and sinuses.

Well I went and saw the Doctor.. I was hoping for some sort of serious diagnosis such as H1N1 or Bird Flu.. but she just said this has been going around for a while, and gave me some stronger, codeine, meds to take at night to at least help me sleep. She said that if it persists though still, in a couple days, to go back and check again and they may give me anti-biotics. :hmmm:

Well at least it werent Birdflu Channi.........Mad cow disease:lew:

2 weeks? it should be losing its potency soon, what ever it is?:hmmm:
Sweeping communal Viral infections only usually last 2 weeks hopefully thats all it is
you not swallowing phlegm are you? coz that would just make it worse and the best idea when you have a cold/flu/virus/flesh eating disease is to get rid of as much material as you can from your body.

SO what ever it is spreads itself to thin.

Nah, I know how to deal with phlegm. It's gross and makes me sound like an 80 year old man horking it up, but I get rid of it when I feel it building up.

But after two weeks, I should hope it would calm down or go away by now. I'm being blamed for getting people sick at work, and well.. it's quite possible. :mokken:

If I had a choice I wouldn't. But my boss is on leave because of family issues, so she can't work. The other prep cook, other than me, is sick and called in on one of her days.. so that leaves the two chefs. There's only so many days they can work in a row before it goes into over time and then the boss would throw a shitfit.

So I wear a litttle hospital mask and get yelled at when I cough (even though it's covered) but yeah.. I work.

They're worried about me getting one of the elderly sick, cause liek.. they might die or some shit.

Old people die, if its coz you infected them that sno ones fault.

Sorry to go all work place health and safety on your ass but, your Employer has a duty of care to you, other staff and patrons, and you have a duty of care to all those people too .And your a chef to boot.......this thing has national disaster written all over it:lew:

This is from canadas CCOHS national thing it states some legislative nonsense: READ IT.

Yogurt with berries on top helps. Also mix wisky with honey and drink it down. Honey is an extractant and will help you recover faster.

Get some herbal tea with Echinacea. It helps you recover faster. Ginseng also helps.

Yeah. Well I don't mind working.. I mean, I'm getting cut back another hour next week so I'm trying to salvage what I can right now.. but I get yelled at if I can't go in.. I get yelled at if I go in and I wear my little mask to try and be safe. I'm damned if I do or don't either way.

Hrm... those specific teas I might try. I tried the whole.. oil and oregano (since I have no oil of oregano around) in a glass of water, that... did nothing, but taste like ass. x: And I love yogurt and fruit. :ryan:

Whiskey and honey though... haven't heard that :hmmm:

I have/had the same problem. I've taken every kind of cough medicine available, tablets, suryp, cough drops and nothings stopped mine. Mine started out worse though. I started off with the high fever (was to the point i was delirious with pain) Then as i got better the cough got worse. When the cough got better i had a runny nose. it went like that for 2 months.

I still have the cough but the rest is gone....

Nothing worse than your dad telling you "If you can get out of bed, you can goto class."

It's a half an hour walk from where my dad drops me off, to College. 2 hills to climb along the way.

Not healthy, was delirious the whole way, surprised i even made it.

It's been 2 years since my last sickness o.o last time I used to cough so hard, my chest starts to hurt whenever I cough, went to the doctor and one of the tunnel (Linking nose to somewhere else) were blocked or whatever. (I cba knowing the scientific name then)

owell hope you get better, I know how cough can be annoying :monster:

Yah fever accompanied it on two occasions but it passed quickly with the right meds. So it wasn't so serious. But the cough it left behind is just so.. dry and hazardous and hurty. And I can't talk without sounding like a 12 year old boy hitting puberty.

Yah I don't get sick often eithr and when I do, it's baaad (like this apparently). I was hoping for a srs diagnonsis but no. :mokken:

Also thanks :monster:

You seem like a tough Lady Channi you will be all right:D

So you take the required safety precautions and you get yelled at and they expect you to work when you sick and you do the right thing?>-----anyone else have a problem with that?

*raises hand* :monster:

That work place is reaaaly tough. Well the boss anyway, she's so hard to please. If we had a spare prep cook at least, I'd call in. But since the other person opposite me called in once already, clearly she couldn't take my days. Supposedly though, because of this, they're looking into hiring a spare.

I'm still sick. :hmph: The codeine medicine helps me sleep but as far as during the day goes, I'm still coughing. Checking back into the clinic tomorrow to tell them it's still around and might get put on antibiotics. :hmmm:

Will keep posted if it's Swine Flu and/or I die.
