Help So...about Quina.

Well, now I'm back to square one. :sad3: Quina or Eiko?

Also, I'm completely leaving out the Black Mage Powerhouse, Vivi. But I heard he has crap damage end-game.

i didnt really use him much myself, i was more for Eiko, Quina, Steiner and Zidane

yeah he wasnt worth the slot seeing as you need to use mp to get the most out of him. Freya/Steiner/Amarant more practical damagers

!!

After a certain point in the game (mainly once you get the Light Robe - Half MP ability) Vivi's one of the better sweep attackers. Not only can he target all enemies and inflict ailments like Poison, it's VERY easy to hit 9999 damage with the likes of Flare. Max damage isn't terribly hard to accomplish with physical fighters either, but it's a pretty poor reason to ditch him because of that. Also, Flare's awesome. =P

If you're planning to use Quina for damage, I'd say go for it. Historically, the Blue Mage is that of a support artist - to bolster the 'professional' in that field. Quina shouldn't be assigned the designated healer imo, but then IX isn't renowned for its overall difficulty so you don't strictly need one in every fight...

Just test them out and compare. There's plenty of opportunities to test them out.

Triple T, Quinas sex is not confirmed, please dont affirm either/or without consent from S-E :hmph:..........just playin mate:lew:

Quinas weapons were powerful early on because of the variable damage they caused,
so the higher the thresh hold for damage was the more effective round arse could be
of course when Quina hits an enemy for 98 points and S/he has The Gastro fork:lew:

Shits all F!@#$%^ up.

well you showed me :wacky:

mind you im talking about from battle to battle rather than who hits the hardest. I'd rather my picks than Vivi who burns out after a stretch of battles

I absolutely love Vivi, but since I usually try to steal everything from a Boss when I come to it, I need healing since apparently Zidane, even with Bandit, is still a poor excuse for a Thief at times. :ahmed:

I just don't know if I can get away with having Quina + White Wind as my healing and totally forsake Eiko's White Magic (Since I really want to use Freya...if I can't, then so be it, but...Freya is so cool) so I can use Vivi? Or is Freya's slot better served for someone else in end-game?

Jaaa, I feel that mostly in disk 1 & 2 where his MP is horrendous. After hitting 50+ though he gets somewhere in the region of 300 MP, which coupled with Half MP makes using Ethers few and far between. Probably a better character choice for the more significant battles in the game.

Oh, and he can take advantage of elemental weaknesses. If they don't have one, Amarant can sort that out. :ohoho:

All you need to beat the game is Zidane, Vivi, Steiner, and Garnet. You pretty much start with them on disk 1. Zidane is mandatory until Memoria, Garnet is a good healer, and Vivi and Steiner is just a good match up. Sure you will be using ethers but why not? Got a 99 ether problem to where you can't have 98?

The problem with that party is you'd have to like all those characters to want to use them. :hmph:

quina is could when you get her and im only on disc three shes ok and make sure you get tons of blue magic my brother is on disc 4 and he said shes not the most useful one

yea.........

So, Antlion's Sandstorm knocked my party down to 1 HP on everyone and inflicted everyone with Darkness. Quina used White Wind + Angel's Snack to fully heal everyone.

I think I may just take her with me after all.

Don't rely on what others have to say. xD It's your choice.

I, myself, use everyone and switch my party around all the time. I enjoy it. xD

I do not like Quina in my party because of the responses he/she give in the dialogue. The story is much better with ViVi than Quina.

My choices are:

Zidanne (can't rid with him most part of the game so I always got him in my party and never changed);

Vivi (I like to have black mage's arts when I’m progressing in the game, and a most for bosses, so it's needless to say that I always rely on him :));

Quina or Garnet or Eiko (well it depends... I often use a white mage, however if the party has grown stronger, I don't need one since I can use Quina's white wind which is a very effective spell when combined with Freya's regen ability);

Freya
or Steiner or Amarant or Quina (this last slot is always the one I got trouble in deciding... Steiner is great for bosses and has a lot of HP, mostly when combined abilities with Vivi, but besides this he is very useless since Freya, Amarant and Quina have reasonable good strength and supporting abilities that come in handy all the time... Freya is the case of character that I always want in my party but at times got replaced since a white mage or Quina needs to be in her place, however I use her most in the fourth CD... Amarant has Chakra which is good if you have no many choices to recover the loss of MP, besides this Quina and Freya together or apart are viable choices to replace him.

My favorite party team is: Zidanne, Vivi, Quina, Freya. Now it's up to you to decide which is the style of combat you adapt better :)

Yeah. I just level too much in the game. Which really hurts Eiko. Eiko for me is never any good. She only heals as much as Garnet when she has concentrate set. xP

And I know Marcus affects Eiko, I just read recently that he actually affects Amarant. I don't believe it, but it still confuses me.

But, yeah, it's all up to you.

And the Summon's MP cost goes down later in the game.

Marcus DOES affect Eiko. If you do a low level game, Amarant joins at Blank's level though. Pretty sure I explained this in the SB, but basically, whatever stats Marcus has when you lose him on disc 2 transfer to Eiko, though his level doesn't.

And personally, I use Freya, Zidane, Amarant, and Garnet, since I like using attackers. I also like having the healer though, as it can really help when you screw up. (As I do so often)

You're party is kind of the party I had in mind. Although, I can't decide not between Eiko or Garnet. :sad3:

I'm already kind of decided I want Zidane, Freya, and Amarant. Although, Amarant's attitude is starting to piss me off, so I may switch to Vivi if he doesn't change. :hmph:

I've always found Quina good for troubleshooting. Like her mighty guard, for example.
Blue mages= troubleshooters. Or at least that's how I use them. They're not too good for mainstream use but can get you through a sticky situation.

I know, I know. I was only stating that some guy had confused me. xD

But yeah, I don't really level Marcus... so... xD

Edit: @MagicMasher - He doesn't change too much. He becomes more accepting of the party, especially Zidane and Freya(a little) but beyond that he stays pretty much the same.
