Smoking?

move to alice springs and live with the abbos.

smoke their herbs, learn the didge and do some abbo paintings.

you dont need a house when you have the bush mate!

That argument wouldn't apply to my situation in any way whatsoever.

I'm the one who's been working for the last three months and we go halves in everything when he does work.

I'm not one of those freeloading girls who sits at home all day spending my partners money.

And he can enjoy the T.V. and other things when he's not smoking. It's just silly to smoke inside and even he knows that. He just doesn't move far away enough from the door while he's smoking outside and trying to watch T.V through the screen door. I can't be assed complaining to him anymore about it.
that is the argument entirely. he paid for half of it, and he has the decency to go outside and not smoke around you. is it not really unfair that you say outside isn't far enough, you can't watch the tv that you paid for half of?

i still occassionally socially smoke, i think once youre adicted your always adicted, so after a few bevvies, its that much easier to just be like ooooh go on then, it wont hurt. Ive not properly smoked for a couple of years now, took ages to kick the habit, but i know il never start it up regular again, and i do miss it sometimes, so i will socially smoke. Its not about being 'cool' or whatever, im just an ex smoker who misses it sometimes, just thinking about it makes me want one a bit. Yeah, i wish id never started in the first place, but well, thats hindsight innit. younger people definately do it to either fit in, or just because they know they shouldnt be doing it. How many (young) people can say that the idea of doing something that they know they shouldnt be doing isnt appealling? I know thats why i started

Its a minging smelly expensive habit though, i wont dispute that, i dont mind being around smokers, but not if its a confined space and im being smoked out

not when people are eating either...

TBH, I don't really understand why people start smoking either. I've seen a lot of good kids go downhill really fast. I agree with you on all that. I tried it once, and I think I almost threw up I was so disgusted. It's not a good experience, and people don't seem to realize that. Now with all this D.A.R.E. & drug/alcohol/tobacco awareness stuff, there's no excuse for someone not the realize the possible harm. A lot of times people just don't believe it will happen to them; that they won't get addicted, won't get cancer, ect. I could go into a rant easily, too, but I'll leave it at that. It's dangerous and not fun.

Sorry to challenge you on this... But I didn't like your 'I've seen a lot of good kids go downhill really fast.' Tbh smoking is not the worst thing a 'good kid' could be doing, plus it is not a drug that alters your state of mind, therefore I believe kids can still be 'good' despite the fact they do smoke. It does not affect your ability to be good person. I will agree that it is not fun at all, but ya know.

I mean as in there was a boy in my high school who constantly bragged about how he'd been smoking since he was a little kid, and he got lung cancer at 18. And some guy (tbh I didn't really know him) went from that, to pot at at party, to full time pot smoking, and then on to worse.

OH okay, sorry gotcha now. :) Yeah I agree with you on that, Pot can be a gateway drug in my opinion.

Did you know smoking is the leading cause of male impotence / erectile dysfunction?

That's reason enough for me to stay away from it... :ohshit:

Cigarettes are scientifically engineered to be addicting and impossible to quit. They're a trap, really.

I'm one of those oddball people who always avoided prescription drugs, aspirin, or anything deemed unnatural. Cigarette smoke, according to scientists, alters your biology on a genetic level; inflicting damage which can accumulate over time.

I think... the easiest way to quit smoking is to switch to a type of naturally grown tobacco and R.Y.O. (roll your own cigarettes). There's tons of naturally grown tobacco available on the internet. Its sometimes labeled as "pipe tobacco". Filters, paper to roll cigarettes and naturally grown pipe tobacco are cheap. The price comes out to something like 2-4 times cheaper per cigarette than buying a pack from the supermarket or wal mart.

Natural tobacco has the advantage of not containing hundreds of random and assorted chemicals brand name cigarettes have as additives. Its not engineered to be addicting and contains something like 30%-40% less nicotine. From what I've heard a person's body will prefer natural tobacco to store bought brands to a point where they can't smoke store bought brands anymore.

The concept behind it is smoking healthier, natural, tobacco will eliminate your craving for more harmful store bought brands and be easier to quit due to the lower nicotine content.

But, TBH, I'm no expert. :argor:

Haha, I used to R.Y.O it was okay, but so fiddly! I gave up due to laziness, but if my new year quitting doesn't go to plan then I might revert back to it, but idk yet. :( I have an inhalator ready for it and some low-dose patches, so hopefully that'll be enough for the first month or so. Wish me luck people, I think I may need it...

Steve rolls his own cigarettes now. He gets more out of it and it costs him $40-$50 less per week as he reckons it makes him smoke less too, which is good. I think it's the rolling his own that puts him off a bit from smoking as much. XD

I think he's tried nearly everything in regards to quitting. Champix, patches, the inhalor, gum, e-cigarettes which is plastic and looks like a real cigarette and actually blows smoke, but the thing you're smoking is purely nicotine and nothing else. He even went to get hypnotised by some guy who reckons he's made a load of people quit.

But yeah, he's gonna try the Champix again as it did work for him last time to an extent. Made him sick and all, but he just gave up the Champix instead of the cigarettes. He kept smoking when he should have been letting the Champix do it's thing, which in turn made him sick and yeah. It didn't work out. Hopefully this time it will!

I'm gay because I smoke. 2-4 cigs a day, but still. I tried to quit countless times in the past without bringing it up to anyone.. but alone it suckzors.

I smoke camel/camel lights. I enjoy the long drags in the morning and long drags toward the end of the work hours.. aside from that.. I do smoke at bars. I go out maybe once every two weeks. Drinking brings out the smiliest of me.. I'm such a crazy fella.

Ahh, I just finished reading about how bad smoking is for your body in school this past Friday. It even talked about how smoke companies would pretty much try to pressure you into buying some with their ads. It was horrible honestly.

I've seen what it does to people. My grandpa has been smoking for years. While I love him with all my heart, I just find it hard to be around him and the smell of smoke. Not to mention, you can see what it's doing to him physically.

My Dad used to smoke, but he quit when I was born. Mom tried one and hated it, so luckily, my parents never smoked around us as kids.

I have no desire or intention to ever start smoking. My parents taught me better than to give in to peer pressure.

They always get mad at me for my video game playing, but them I'm like "at least I'm not smoking or drinking" ;)
