lol, I think this is the third thread I've made about sig space and size, but I guess I'm too thick in the head to get it :lew:

Alright, last time I was under the impression that as long the combined signature image didn't exceed 500 x 500, it was okay to have the individual sizes however we want.

So you could have just one image that was 500 x 500 and nothing else if you really wanted, or have some like 500 x 250, or whatever else that was above 200 pixels high as long as added all 500 pixels high in the end, right? I've seen a lot of other sigs that went over 200 pixels, so I figure it was okay to exceed an individual sig's limit if the total didn't go over 500.

But a mod told me my sig was too big now and I cropped it, but I just want to know what exactly is the verdict on this? I know in the User CP, it says 500 x 200 is the limit, but is that being enforced again or what?

Shit you make a point :O , like my second sig ...its actually 500+ x 112..
(to be exact 597px × 118px )

Now im damn curious if its allowed myself :hmmm:
I mean yeah my sig might be wide and exceeding the limit but at least its not too big vertically....

I await the mods responses. You made a good point.

Basically, you have a 500x500 space to put in anything you want (within other site rules, of course), be it text, images, links, or whatever. As long as it fits in that 500x500 box, you should be good to go.

If a mod gives you any more trouble, just cut your large sig into two pieces and stack them on top of each other so it looks like one and still abides by the 500 x 200 rule. Some people say you can have whatever you like in the 500 x 500 box but some mods have said differently in my experience as well.

Pretty much the reason why I've approved of 500x500 signature size whenever members have asked me about this. The total combined height for signature space is 500 pixels, so technically if someone choose to go with the one-500pixels-signature route rather than the two-200pixels-signatures, it still meets the limit as it pretty much comes down to being the same thing. So rather than discuss the technicalities involved with the members who are confused about this, I've always just given them the 'go ahead'.

To sum it up, it is still preferable that members follow this guideline here: Signature Limit
But due to some circumstances (or loophole, you could say), no one would really be in trouble if they choose the one 500x500 pixels signature route - it's just not encouraged. In fact...

This would be better than going with the 500x500 pixels route.

Well back in the days I remember there was a moderator, now a veteran member, who was famous for his monumentally colossal signature. That thing was huge, curiously enough, the page still loaded normally so most of us just couldn't be arsed to care anyway. I guess that so long as the signature does not distorts the page in any way (like excessively stretching the page like I've seen before) then I suppose it should be good to go.
