Jack Daniels is a Tennessee sippin' whiskey. Not a bourbon.
There is no difference in the production process of bourbon and whiskey. The difference comes in the storage. To qualify as a bourbon, a whiskey has to be stored in a new charred oak barrel at less than 160 proof for at least two years, and nothing can be added for flavoring or coloring purposes. And be made in the US, of course. Otherwise, it's a whiskey.
The company denies it, but everyone knows. The only difference is the maple syrup addition. I have some redneck friends
Jack Daniels has an odd history, which kinda paints a classic picture of the gritty American 1800's.
