Shots Shots Shots Shots Shots

Jack Daniels is a Tennessee sippin' whiskey. Not a bourbon.

There is no difference in the production process of bourbon and whiskey. The difference comes in the storage. To qualify as a bourbon, a whiskey has to be stored in a new charred oak barrel at less than 160 proof for at least two years, and nothing can be added for flavoring or coloring purposes. And be made in the US, of course. Otherwise, it's a whiskey.

The company denies it, but everyone knows. The only difference is the maple syrup addition. I have some redneck friends :D

Jack Daniels has an odd history, which kinda paints a classic picture of the gritty American 1800's.

Reason #87232 you should never listen to rednecks. They mean well, but they're... well... rednecks.

I still go with Jameson as my drink of choice. Not for shots though, any thing I take shots off of straight, I tend to hate the next few weeks... aka tequila.

Well heading out again tonight for some birthday drinks, so I'll be trying that sambucca gas chamber doohickey.

I find I'm the same Shu, I can't drink the same straight shot again for a good while. A few weeks ago I was drinking Goldschlaager like it was going out of style, but currently I can't stand the stuff.

Booze is booze. You end up pished either way if you do it right.

Not a whiskey lover though, i tend to go for tennents if im on the beer and morgans if im on the spirits.

Rum eh? Never pegged you for a Rum man Lew dawg. Though I do enjoy Bicardi 151. Over proof rum, that if you mix with anything.. it'll get your girl in the sack quick! ;) Though be careful, because she could die as well ...shit be dangerous.

Aye i prefer dark rum over pretty much anything alcoholic tbh. Bacardi isnt bad but i go for morgans spiced or captain morgans if they have it.
It just goes down so well.

Vodka by the bottle is always good though cuz its a shitload cheaper than morgans.

So I always found Captain Morgan to be a girly liquor, until I had the 100 proof kind and got drunk beyond, way fuckin beyond.

i've recently taken a liking to amaretto

go get yourself a lighter beer

pour about half of it into a glass

pour some amaretto into a shot glass, put some overproofed rum on top of it, like a tbsp of it

set the rum on fire and leave your shot glass sit there for like a minute and 30 seconds

with the alcohol in the shot glass on fire drop it into the glass of beer, make sure the flame is extinguished by the beer

chug it DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT ITS AMAZING :monster:

i dont either

i just think its a measurement of how volatile the alcohol is

edit: like i think normal rum is 50-60% alcohol by vol. 151 proof is 80% alcohol by vol

Divide the proof in half and that is the percentage of alcohol.

The general proof of liquor is 80, or 40% alc.

So 151 is about 75%.

Back in the day, the English navy used to pay its sailors in rum, in addition to their usual pay. But sneaky captains would water down their rum. Rum catches on fire at a certain percentage of alcohol, so the sailors would light a bit of their share on fire as "proof" that the rum wasn't watered down. Voila.
