[RP] Perpetual Twilight

After venturing through many towns, mostly to buy provisions for the cave, he came upon it. It had a dreadful look to it. Many corpses lay outside it, distorted in all kinds of fashions. Many of these people had no doubt wandered in there without any planning beforehand and rushed to their pitiful deaths, thought Arisato. He unleashed his wing and strode into the cave. As he went it, he casted a bufudyne ice block and placed it in front of himself. At that exact moment, a ball of dark energy came rocketing towards him. The bufudyne ice block blocked the ball, but shattered under its power. He merely conjured up another one and said to himself...

"At least this will be interesting, and it's all for the sake of retribution"

Before hovering on ahead.

OOC: Short post is short sorry.

Elisabeth did not manage to get close enough to hear much of their talk. She however did get a good look on the people that were there, or atleast a better look from before. As they started to move once again she herself was about to move, but as soon as she took a new footstep the woman who's name would be Henrietta turned around with her hand on her sword. Hoping that she did not notice her she stopped on the spot, almost not breathing either.

"Oh come on woman, just think that there is nothing wrong and move on."

As Henrietta then relaxed and started to move forward to the rest of the group Elisabeth had her chance to start following them once again wondering what theese mysterious people where up too. One thing was for sure, if it was of mischievous reasons blood would be spilt.

Ahrexian stormed out of the castle and onto the main street leading up to it. Burning and ruined buildings lined either side of the street, bodies of those who have fought to defend the king were heaped up and burning.

As he moved past the buildings light twisted unnaturally around his armour. To each group of soldiers he strode past he gave a simple hand signal ordering them up to the castle steps and once he judged there were enough men to perform the task he was about to set he turned on his heel and walked back to the base of the stairs.

As he reached his destination shadows blended round them, darkening the area within which they were standing so any obvious hand gestures would be nearly impossible to discern by spies or survivors from a distance. He explained that they would be heading after the escapees, following the track heading towards the woods, but they would need to be cautious as there were several survivors and they may have set traps or be waiting in ambush.

He explained that he himself would be accompanying them and that they should prepare for any eventuality, be it a fight, or a simple massacre of the broken and damned.

Ahrexian then headed inside the palace to inform Lord Ticalos that the search patry preparations were underway, and he would be ready to lead them after the prince shortly...

"Fine."

"If that is the case, it'll too dangerous to leave her here...Let's us head off to the border with haste then."

Solstice gave them a small nod before taking point again. The sooner they got to the border the better.

Ryoko stirred in her arms, gazing up at her with large, watery eyes. "I'm.. sorry..." she whispered, her voice barely above the the slight rush of wind. The soft pink eyes glinted with gratitude to the Assassin as Solstice gave her a rare smile in return.

Solstice had been wrong when she estimated a couple of hours before the girl was recovered. Ryoko would be fit enough within the half hour, but the Assassin wanted to give her ample time to get her strength back. She knew just how gruelling the first release of the wings could be and the girl was only small... delicate even.

Rose pink eyes focused upon the leaf green of the Assassin as Solstice continued to move forwards, planting another kunai in the dark brown bark of a nearby tree. "I'll be okay... I'm... stronger than ... I look. But I'm scared..." Ryoko's voice was barely audible, words meant only for the winged one carrying her.

"Fear not, Princess, I'll keep you safe,"
Solstice whispered back, her voice even softer than that of the girl, only heard by the Princess of the Winged Ones.

It had not ceased. Henrietta could feel her heart beat all throughout her body. Each thump resonated in her mind. The quicker they exited the forest and woods, the better it is. They may lose much cover from the enemy, but it would meant that they could travel faster. It was a toss between the two. Speed or cover? Whatever it was, it was the assassin's decision. Rumours spread like flies and Henrietta had heard many. Most tidbits and obscenely exaggerated, but all pointed to her skill in her namesake, deadly. If the rumours does her justice, then Henrietta had nothing to fear in trusting her decisions and choice.

Still... the sooner, the better...

Because of unforseen circumstances, in addition to protecting Prince Talis, but also the young Winged One, Ryoko. Though he only knew of Solstice's capabilities through various rumors, he did not fully trust her, but had to rely on her if the prince is to survive to see their way across the border.

He came to realize now why Solstice would've rescue someone of her race. The Winged ones are more suseptible to the temptations of sin, whether it be greed, lust or envy, than humanity.

John stopped focusing on past events and started to focus on getting the Prince and the Child to Precipia, that's all that matters now.

Talis couldn't help but feel a little compassion for the girl in Solstice's arms. He was still grieving, at least inwardly, for his dead father and mother, but compassion had always been something Talis had possessed, and hewouldn't let bitterness and matters beyond his control alienate him from a child who might well be in the same position as him. He was angry, and still devastated, but still he approached Solstice.

"Is she alright?" he asked.

OOC: Short post. Sorry.

((OOC: /piggybacks on Diar's necro.))

Almost immediately after Ahrexian had left the throne room, a messenger from Umbra meekly entered from the same door. The pale young boy was haggard, obviously having undertaken the fairly lengthy trip between the two capitals at a furious pace. Ticalos beckoned the timid lad forward, his mind churning at the bad news that this was sure to bring.

"M...My Lord Ticalos Mal. The... um... one of the specimens has ... escaped." Ticalos' eyes closed slowly, paused there, then re-opened even more slowly. Of course it would be this way. On the day of a great victory, there would have to be some sort of irritant. He beckoned for the young messenger to continue. "It was the y-youngest one. The t-tranquilizer wore off too soon, and bef-fore the experimentor realized it, she was gone."

Ticalos stewed on the throne, remaining silent for several minutes, allowing the anger burning inside him to subside long enough for him to think clearly. His silence prompted the rest of the throne room to remain just as quiet. The silence was so complete that one could hear the wailing and lamenting of the few Crystair citizens still left alive.

At that moment Ahrexian returned to the throne room, presumably to tell inform Ticalos of their readiness to depart on the search for the remaining Crystair nobility. Just as his lieutenant was about to speak, Ticalos put up a hand, forestalling Ahrexian's words.

"My young servant, I see that you have traveled hard and fast to bring this information to me. I am appreciative." The young man flushed in pleasure at the unexpected compliment. Nodding to an Umbran page, Ticalos spoke again. "Forlo. See that the boy is well fed and rested. Tomorrow, you will accompany this young man back to Umbra. Upon your return, you will go to the laboratory with the him, where he will tell you which of the experimentors was on duty when the specimen escaped. The two of you will execute him. If he has fled, you will discern his whereabouts, find him, torture him, then kill him. If you fail to find him, you both will be tortured and killed in his place." He dismissed the two with a curt wave of his right hand.

He turned his gaze upon his lieutenant. "Ahrexian. I know what you would say. You are ready to lead the hunt. Unfortunately, this changes matters. I shall accompany you." Now addressing a Crystair nobleman who was held captive during the raid, Ticalos spoke again. "You. You will find the finest horse in the stable. Saddle it, prepare it, and bring it to the front of the main yard. When it's ready, Ahrexian, we shall embark. You are all dismissed."
