Since when was this referred to as the ''R'' word. I was reading some article on msn news, yeah its trash but whatever and it was titled.

''some woman lewis has never heard of and cant remember her name uses the ''R'' word to describe Obama.

We all know the ''N'' word. Are they gunna make an alphabet of slurs and insults :srsly:
 
Everyone gets offended over everything these days, I'm not surprised they're refering to it as the 'R word'
 
The N word and the R word give your mind the ability to wonder. It's even worse than saying the word retard.
 
On a completely unrelated note, I have a countdown running until the election.

I'm so tired of hearing about the mud-slinging and smack talking between the two of them, I can't wait until it's over with :gonk:

...and for whatever reason, this thread reminds of that thread from waaaaay back in either the sleeping forest or midgar where they were talking about either changing the lyrics to or not singing baa baa black sheep anymore because someone thought it sounded racist or something. People are looking pretty stupid nowadays for flipping out about every little thing :damon:

As Toni said, I'm really not surprised they used "the R word". Everyone is hypersensitive. :hmph: Every time I hear the word retard now, though, I think of someone who is retired. It's because of that Borat movie :damon:
 
I wouldn't necessarily refer to it as the "R" word, but nowadays I try to refrain from using the word "retarded" 'cause it's really reserved for people suffering from "mental retardation." (well, it's rude to refer to them as "retarded" too, but grr. I'm a mental mess. -.-)

I'd rather just say, "stupid," "dummy," or "hobo." ...Or "A-hole" depending on the circumstances. xD;
 
If someone called someone with an actual mental disability a retard I think there would be outrage from everyone hahaha

It's a pretty bad word to call someone with a disability, just like spastic is or minda. I don't think it's really that offensive at all to say it to a non mentally disabled person though
 
The world has become to sensitive and politically correct in the last 15 years; it's sad.

If you think the "R" word is bad, look at what's been added to the dictionary in the last year two:
Frenemy, ahha moment, craft beer, man cave, etc.

Why are we adding in phrases to the dictionary? Meh was added in a few years back. Really? As if the English language wasn't already garbage as it is, we have to add in shitty slang words as well?
 
Over sensitivity is off the charts these days. I mean the majority of the people, at least from whom i know in real life and you guys on the forum think its all ridiculous. Its the politics and press that make it such a big deal.

Also i read about your election in the US from time to time and its like a celebrity dissing fest. The whole thing is quite shocking when your talking about someone who is gunna be president of the United States. Maybe people think its good to see a more human side but i think its pathetic low blows. A man running for president should be professional and present himself respectfully. Obama is almost like a kardashian in the way hes publicised so often.
 
I had to laugh at the debates, Lew. Obama was really reserved at first, but when Romney made Obama look like a dumbass during the first debate, Obama started smashing him in the following ones. I agree, though, it's completely ridiculous they spend more time digging at each other than talking about their plans.

Definitely more entertaining than our election debates anyway!
 
I dont think it should be entertaining though. It should be about policies, what your gunna do for your country to make it better and how your gunna support the people. If i wanna see people trash eachother il turn on some reality tv garbage and watch that instead. Or go read a sleeping forest debate thread on fff.

Britain is just in a mess economically. David Cameron has just made an absolute cunt of the poorer people.

This actually reminds me of something that happened at work last week. They had these guys standing outside our doors and they had a vest on that said "donations for the mentally retarded" or something like that. That was when I went into work. By time I got out like 6 hours later, someone made them change their vests and retarded was "handicapped."
