Outfit Changes?

I can remember when I first played FFXII, and I thought the stuff you equipped, you would see physically on the character... (It would've been awesome, I was really hoping for a Mages Hat to appear upon Vaan's hat, I really hoped!) then I realised it didn't... but I've always thought this. :X They must be absolutely humming!

But I can imagine if you could change costumes like, manually, spending time on it and stuff, it'd be time consuming and possibly quite boring... but, I think, when you change equipment, it shows up on the character, haha. That'd be interesting~

I certainly wouldn't mind costume changes. Although the main focus on FF games isn't really the costumes, it's hardly difficult to make the characters so they're wearing a variation of clothing, you have to think of the development changes that would have to been made in cutscenes, and this would take up more pointless memory on the game disc/s.

A yes from me, but I'm sort of leaning towards a no too.

Yeah I thought it may be like that too >.>, I hate it on games when you equip something and it doesn't show on the actual character, it's like...where does it go? :gasp:
I just wouldn't mind seeing the clothes get wet like Naughty Dog did for Uncharted, I'm not so bothered about changing clothes depending on the environment, though in cutscenes it should be done >.>

My brother and I discussed this a while back about X-2. I've always thought it would be cool if you could walk around in the dressphere Yuna was currently using.

But yes, I think it would be a lot more realistic if you got to change the outfits. I think it would be a lot more fun too, but that's just me

^Ooh that would be really good, I never thought of that, it would have made it more fun...imagine walking round as a giant moogle :wacky:
Not that I ever GOT That dressphere Imessed up the chapter complete thing somewhere on my new gaem and I wasnt doing it again >_>

But yer, that would have been great

Some of the outfits do seem inconvient for the situations.. i.e. Rikku in FFX-2 + Mount Gagazet. Equals little Rikku shaped iceblock! ;3

That would be good, except the creators would get too lazy and then in the CGI scenes suddenly she'd have switched clothes. o.o;

They did it in the International(Japanese) version. Didn't they?

I saw a few clips on Youtube. It seems like a completely different game to be honest..
But anyways, I'm going off topic.

I still think it would have been cool if we could change the outfits. It would have been necessary because of the weather in certain areas etc. (as it was said earlier). There's nothing we can do about it now though, but I like this topic.

I voted No, but the thing is I don't really care for it. =/ I like the outfits they have... And I don't think the game is about their outfits. <.> So... It doesn't really... Appeal to me.

True, although the point of the game (I think) was to make it more feminine - especially since there's three females cast as the mains. So people are criticising the overuse of fashion, and I agree, the game shouldn't be about the clothes.

i just think that with the newer games they should change clothes for the certain conditions. Like they sleep, swim, fight, walk, and everything else in these outfits. Maybe it's a test for survival. haha. It might not be a main part of the game but it'd be something nice to see.

It just really bothered me in FFX to see they were walking around Mt. Gagazet in frimpy summer outfits...(except Lulu). lol.

has anyone noticed maybe how in I half way through all your character change jobs which also change outfits?

but yeah I think it would be coolto see character change as the story goes, not just outfits but like scars, missing limbs, you know physically evolve as the story goes :D

It didn't bother me too much at first. First time I saw their outfits, I thought they were cool. But, yeah, the characters could use an change at least once in a while. I love their clothes, but seeing something new can be a good thing.

Maybe if there was a timeskip or something, but I couldn't really see characters changing their outfits regularly. Yeah, sure, two outfits throughout the game is okay, I guess. But any more, and I could see the effort in the designs going down.

It worked in X-2 somewhat, though. But that was more of a fun fanservice game than the ones in the main series tbh. So it could really pull it off. xDDD

Well, as for having more than 2 outfits to change that would just be useless and taking away from the characters and story. But a nice 2 outfit, one standard and the other just something different for us to keep the eye candy going. Ya know? Maybe for X we could've seen one for the hot weather and one for the cold weather because I know Rikku was super cold in the outfit she had on for the Mt. Gagazet climb.

If this were a year ago, I would have said "yeah! That'd be awesome!". However, after seeing the destruction SE did with this idea in Lightning Returns, I'm not so sure if I'd want to see this feature again. They could very easily put guys into some silly looking outfits as well. I guess the best way would be to have a purpose to the alternate outfits, like in X-2. Not just outfits for the sake of outfits. Y'know?

I think a small few that you can unlock somehow would be nice, but there needn't be a plethora of outfits to choose from. I really don't care that much at all, it's hardly a dealbreaker.

the way SE is using it...NO....they can't think up good costumes. not only that, but they vary largely from the character's persona. Even Paine (though slightly slutty) mostly fit into the costumes she wore.

character outfit being "optional" yes...it would be something nice. but not integral to the story.
