Eh, not sure. I'm not even sure what sort of setting it should be. (Industrial, fantasy, etc.) Then again, the setting was pretty much inspired by Breath of Fire V, so unless we stray away from a fairly industrial setting and dragons and a journey to find the sky, it'll turn into a URPG. XD
Earthquakes, cave-ins, jewels, precious metals, mines, tunnels...then again, tunnels are kind of a must when trying to get from point a to point b in an underground setting.
There certainly needs to be some form of dilemma, though...a murder mystery?
Crossovers of that magnetude would threaten to drive me mad.... But the actual game concept sounds horrifically enjoyable. I've never really played a 'scary' RP before, but I have always thought it would be alot of fun. Sign me up if this gets off the ground (once the genre is clear enough that I can write up a character for it, anyways).
Eh, it's still a WIP, so I'm open to suggestions. ^^; I've yet to get an actual plot...
Saix also suggested perhaps a slavery deal or the same sort of vibe as the Midgar Slums. SO current possibilities that I have listed for mine are...
A) Underground setting
-1) Industrial preferred instead of fantasy
B) Inhabitants
-1) Have been underground so long that the sky is forgotten to them
-2) Possibly mole-ish or vampire people. Humans allowed too, of course.
C) Conflicts
-1) Murder mystery of sorts
-2) Slavery
-3) Poverty
Like I said, WIP. If you have an idea for this one, shout it out.
Okay, even if it's industrial, I sorta like magic/ supernatural stuff in one way or another. Maybe not magery, but perhaps witchcraft, rune magic, blessed/ cursed weapons, tech magic, psychic awareness etc... Stuff that's interesting, and generally not too direct in it's powerfulness.
Anywho, I want to play a subterrainian vermin expert, with a nifty pet bug of some kind, I think.
Edit: As for story... why are we underground? Did apocolypse already cover the surface of the world in the most horrible of creatures?
Oo, underground RP? Go my eyeless semi-aquatic albino subterranian reptile people! Though, they were never industrial aged... Oh well <.< >.>
I must also say I'm a fan of deep space adventures of most sorts, and most types of sci-fi settings, but I think space-faring and/or post apocalyptic might be my favorite.
I also definitely enjoy a good creepy horror type setting (anyone read Lovecraft?) I like supernatural/occultly things.
That being said, I dunno that anyone would want to let me play in this, as I'm clearly irresponsible when it comes to keeping up in an RP =P
However, I absolutely love building characters and worlds and peoples, so at the very least if I might volunteer for that, t'would be cool.
It's not supposed to be attractive. No mystical forests of enchantment here. Probably the prettiest it'd get down there is finding a tunnel with shiny rocks and metal. XD
Actually, I was thinking of keeping swords and magic in the mix. I wanted to use a brother/sister pair (yet to be typed up) in the story. The brother uses a sword and weak fire magic, the sister can use magic, but only has a slingshot as a weapon.
The flora and fauna does not have to be derived from machines and the like. You still have your local plants and animals, whatever they may be. So blind reptilian creatures might actually work pretty well.
Me personally, I'm open to most anything. Fantasy, sci-fi, post-apocalyptic, cyberpunk, modern-day, whatever. Trying new RPs is fun.
As I said in the chat, I'm very tempted to make it a bit of a BoFV/Fatal Frame cross-over. BoFV's underground environment and Fatal Frame's creepy elements.
...maybe not with butterflies, though...and I'm definately involving Mariel in this one. (See my gallery if you've no idea what I'm talking about.)
CHEAT BUMP!
Mkay, I'm reviving this thing. If anyone else has any ideas, PLEASE give them. The ideas that were already mentioned are in the first post.
I have a cool post apocalptic scifi setting with a twist although it didnt get enough lift last time...
i should also have another scifi setting somewhere... but the "exploration of silvana" would require some substancial writing for which i ATM dont have the time...
I have a cyberpunk setting in hardcopy (somewhere) which shouldnt be to hard to convert for orpg use (if i can find the notes that is...)
