ORPG Ideas

Even still, I probably don't have enough seniority to take up a mod position. This is only my 37th post. I am sure the people here would want someone who has been with the site longer... though there may not be anyone else =o

Maybe we could have some sort of awesome election dealy? Each of the candidates could put forth their credentials and whatnot, without making this a smear campaign, and the folks can decide with a poll. We will probably need at least two mods, since I don't want to do all the work =p

Kibbies is a communist who doesn't beleive in the sanctity of a smear campain! Also, he smells like dogs!

*Paid for by supporters of Hyoutan for president.*

That's because we have no social lives =/

Ack! I am smearing myself!

Anyways, I think 'Booger' should start up the poll if we wish to go this route since she is a global mod. It would be more formal. Perhaps a thread should be started in the poll section, or in the RP section so that actual RPers see it.

Shenorai is hands down the most eligeable of the candidates in my perspective. This democratic process seems a little unnecessary. :tongue1:

Anyways, I think we should get back on the topic of this thread. If everyone else is out of ideas, and we haven't decided to go with one of the previous concepts, I'll put up some of my own. However, doing so makes me feel obligated to run the RP scenario I offered, so I'd rather wait until all other options are exhausted. I have my image as a lazy bastard to uphold, afterall. ^_^

Current suggestions that have caught my interest (that aren't my own):
Dogfights in space
something FF7/8 inspired
something modern
something futuristic/scifi

Games that would be simple enough that I wouldn't mind running them:
RPB tournament of the worlds fate
Collectable card game RP

The RPB tournament has always been a favorite of mine. I'd just need to take a minute to think up some plot, which I am not doing at this instant even though I am.

Other than that, I would like to do an FF8 SeeD adventure. I've already got that one thought up. We'd just need to write special bios for it, or use a current one and just re-write a small history (keep in mind that characters would be human and no have "super skills", just like the actual FF8 world).

Keep me posted on that idea of yours Kibbies, I'd be really interested in taking part :D Would be great if we could get that up and running soon. I think people see it as a shame that we dont have more RP's running.

I'm game for everything but FF-rippoffz cause well basically i refuse to do so...

*pins, for this thread can be useful*

We could try using the environment from other games and attempt to use them as well. After all, the Final Fantasy world isn't the only one we could mess around with. For example:

The world of Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter
Ages ago, war had placed such a blemish upon the surface of the world that the survivors had to seek refuge underground. Using the technology they had, they created massive underground cities, connected by railways and controlled by the Regents. The people here have lived so long that no one remembers what the sky looks like. Their only reminder is a painting upon the ceiling of each city.
The Regents acted as a form of government, deciding things from who gets what rations to the D-rank of a citizen. A person's D-rank (displayed as a ratio depending on how many people were above them. Example; a regent is 1/1 whereas a merchant would be 1/84653) is based around two things; lineage and their usefulness to society. The more useful they were to the Regents, the closer to the surface they were allowed to live and the more privileges they had access to.
Alas, food beneath the surface is hard to find. So, the BioTech labs were created. They construct creatures known as 'genics' to play the role of anything from food to manual labor workers. There are other things in work there, but they are known only to the Regents.
The genics do not always obey the masters they are given to. The genics that run amok are hunted and killed by a group of Rangers. The genics aren't their only problem, though. The Rangers also keep a look out for a rebel group known as Trinity. Trinity's true motives are unknown, but they are certainly against the Regents.

Thanks to the people who bothered to read that. But yes, this is another world that I'd like to tinker around with once Seclusion is over with. (Unless someone else wants to start one in that environment, either way.)

i'd prefer to work from a non existing world as unlike many here i actually dont play all that many FFesque games, i am however doing some small work on a fantasy setting atm.

well this is all stil WiP (work in progress) but as the idea is now its a world that had its final battle between good and evil and good won, everyon's happey the sun is shining all the time(barring a nice spring rain once in a while), etc etc. and basically all is well. so 30 years after the last battle some wizard (priest profetess whateva) has a vision that "the lich"(bad guy from the war) is back and rebuilding his armies, so we need a bunch of heroes (and since its been 30 years the heroes from the war are all old and feeble) to go and stop him before he gets his armies back up and running, cause if things continue like this he'll get his armies back and visit all kinds of evil darkness on the world...

Not to mention generic.

Obviously it'd need work, but considering it's a "work in progress," I'll cut it some slack. I'll, uh, post up some of my own ideas once I get home.

....... and once I get my material off paper. >.>

and this setting would have a pretty big non standard issue in that GOOD won and not evil, its usually people questing to save the world rather then to protect it... but yeah it IS rather generic...

i seem to have lost the work i did on it (i was trying to make this work another time like this but stopped when a few good rps started), and trust me i know the bad guy of the story and ofcourse i cant give you lot the WHOLE story that would mess with the whole cool factor... but theres more to it then meets the eye

Julius Argexis did a heck of a good job describing his character's birthplace. I was like...shocked at how descriptive it was. I think he would be genious at coming up with locations and stuff. XD
