I was at the part where Kefka rearranges the statues and destroys the world. And I was able to make it to the airship with a few seconds to spare, and when it asked if I should jump or wait, I chose jump. Then I read a FAQs saying that if I choose jump, I'll lose Shadow for the rest of the game. :holyshit: NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I don't wanna lose Shadow!!!!! How the hell was I suppose to know that!!!? Please please please please tell me there's another way to get Shadow back!! PLEEEEEASE!!!

Honestly, I didn't know that you could wait for Shadow to come back either until after I beat the game.

I did the exact same thing, my timer was so close to running out that as soon as i got to the cliff i immediately chose jump. I had no idea you had to wait there for him. I was actually quite annoyed because his throw command is powerful.
 
So is Square trying to tell us that Shadow is an optional party member and he isn't important to the story?

As I was sitting in the corner all emo, I was thinking that maybe I should just start all over. Do you guys think I should? I mean, how long is this game? I just entered the Ruined World, so am I close to the end, or do I still have a lot more to go? It shouldn't take too long to get back to where I was, right? What do you guys think?

He is important... If he is kept alive you get to find out WHO he is, and his connection to other party members. So you actually get to see most of his character development after the Floating Continent collapse. So sad if you lost him .:shame:

It depends... If you love him that much.
The World of Ruin contains at least 1/3 of the game, and there is a lot more to do in it. A lot of character development occurs within this portion of the game for all characters, but it is possible to skip bits (though I wouldn't).

If you love him lots, and you REALLY want to do it all again, then go ahead. But you could always watch his scenes that you have missed on youtube.

It depends really... How long did it take you to get there originally? I'd deduct a few hours from that as you'd know where to go etc now.

It took me a while, but I was slow at these games at the time. Well.. Still am really. :P I take my time.
 
It took me about 2 weeks, in the beginning I played it non stop, but then I started slowing down. The last time I played it really seriously was last sunday.
 
I let shadow die the first time as well, but then I checked a walkthrough almost immediately afterwards and I just reloaded my last save and did that part again. I was pretty relieved that I didn't save over my last save otherwise I would have been kinda pissed.

It is totally up to you. Like I said you could view the scenes with Shadow on the internet if you wanted to see them. I could send you a link to the scenes he would have had if he'd survived.
But you seem to have liked using him as a fighter as well, and your party may be empty. You need as many people as possible for the final dungeon really, though it isn't impossible to complete it without Shadow, and I assume many people have done.

But my advice is, if your irritated and angry now, think about whether it is worth ruining your game experience over. Restart it if you feel you'll still enjoy it going through it again, rather than seeing it as a massive chore.

Posts which you forgot to merge, and I have now done so ^^

Also, I think I'l move this to the Help Booth, feel free to shift it back, we already have a thread on saving shadow, letting him die, and I can see this fgoing the same way, but Id rather not merge them
 
I have no fucking clue what I'm suppose to post about now since this topic has been so fucked up. BUT I'll cover all my bases by saying that no, you cannot bring Shadow back once he's gone and it does eliminate certain scenes in Kefka's world. That being said, I didn't wait for him. I sat around for awhile but when the clock ran low, I left. I was probably only a few seconds away from seeing him but oh well... I'm not as big of a fan of Shadow as some other people are.
 
No way to get him back as everyone's said. I knew about it ahead of time from a friend of mine on an old forum I was at and he really didn't say exactly what would happen, but he was obsessed with FFVI and just told me to wait until the timer got around 2 seconds, and you'll be fine. That was about the time Shadow came back.

Also, then in the World of Ruin after that, Interceptor (Shadow's Dog) tags along with Relm for the rest of the game since Shadow is gone.
