Dengeki's Christmas issue has a new piece of Final Fantasy XIII artwork including the entire playable cast. All the characters seem to be in the same place Lightning was in the first ever piece of artwork released.

So is Lightning's sister a playable character? =/....And I have yet to see the dark haired girl in the background. Anyone know her name?
 
It'll be cool if Serah does become a playable character, I like more variety than 6 characters >__> I hope there's some secret ones too.

Although, if it's just those 7, and Serah is playable, it will be the first time a FF game has more playable females than males.

Serah (Lightning's little sister) won't be a main playable character as far as what SE confirmed. She could be a guest character, but there's no word on that.

And as Joey said- the dark haired woman is Oerba Yun Fang. We have to assume that she and Vanille are from the same tribe as they both have "Oerba" in their names.

As for the cover image- I love how beautiful it looks, but why do they seem so miserable? Serah looks like she is glaring at Snow with anger or something.

I remember that FFV has more female characters than males in the party quite late in the game. In fact Bartz is the only male once Krile enters.

So, we have:

Lightning
Snow
Hope
Oebra
Vanille

and...I hear something about maybe having Cid Raines? He is probably a guest character. The girl in the forefront is Lightning's sister...wonder if she is a main character.

And also....is it just me or are these names super simple? lol.

Hopefully there will be secret characters in the game like Quina in IX and Yuffie and Vincent in VII.
 
Yup, add in Sazh (afro-guy) and you have your list of the six main playable characters. :)

Serah will definitely play a large significant role in the story. I won't spoil anything for you. As for Cid Raines- he will also have a large role in the story. Whether or not he may be a guest character at any stage is unknown.
 
So, this is like the 3rd black guy in an FF game and the first to play a major role? lol. The way the made him look makes Sazh look kinda lame....can we get a cool looking black character for once!? lmao.

We had Barrett in FFVII and One in FFVIII with Ward and the others and now in FFXIII.
 
This looks really nice. However, Lightning's boots made me giggle because they look sort of cartoony to me. Serah looks adorable and I'm seeing some Terra in her.

These characters seem very unique, and I can't wait to see how their personalities combine with the emotions in the game. From what we've heard it's another "drama" game, so I'm happy with that.
 
They look like they have big feet, and I must say even though Snow was considered 30-foot guy for his big shoes, his don't seem the biggest, like Sazh's and Hope's looks quite big and Serah's does too, but that's probabaly because of the angle on hers. Anyway, not like you'll be looking at their feet in the game. =P

Also, it's funny how Oerba Yun Fang is behind the floating sofa, seems like she hasn't noticed it and is about to walk into it. Though I must say the (photoshoped, presuming that this won't appear in the CGI) cover looks fantastic, and I always love the images of the "gang" when the playable cast are all together.
 
The dimensions of the characters are a little off I think. I mean, even though Snow is in the front, he looks WAY bigger than Lightening and others xD

But still, nice image ^^
 
Oh wow this looks amazing!

Such brilliant designs of all the characters and the girls outfits are just so yummy!

I wish I could have them for costume parties or something. >.<

Serah is absolutely gorgeous too! I really hope she appears a lot in the game.
