My personal belief is that the soundtrack of FFX is absolutely phenomenal. Nobuo Uematsu, in my opinion is amazing. The compositions you encounter throughout the story are emotional and awe-inspiring. Such as "Wandering"
after the failed M'ihen project

"The Sending", and "A Fleeting Dream" going through Zanarkand. The Hymn of the Fayth nearly brought me to tears the first time I heard it, and I'm not the emotional type. :sup: I definitely had to buy a select few to put on my iPod :
"Tidus's Theme" Going to the blitzball arena

"Run!!" First Sin Encounter
"Spira Unplugged" Besaid's Theme
"Auron's Theme"
"The Sending"
"A Fleeting Dream"
"Hymn-Bahumut" (My personal favorite of the hymns, don't know why)
"Wandering" (My absolute favorite :x3:)
"Believe"
Sometime near the wedding, I believe
"Hymn-Spira"
On the airship fighting Sin.

FFX has the best soundtrack in the series, IMO.

My tied favorites are Wandering Flame, which is absolutely beautiful, and To Zanarkand which is utterly fantastic.

Try listening to Wandering Flame (or just Wandering as it is also known) with earphones in, full volume, at 3 in the morning with the lights of and your eyes closed... o_O

Oh. My. God.

It feels incredible.

Other favorites include Besaid Island, A Fleeting Dream, Tidus' Theme, all versions of The Hymn of the Fayth, and The Final Battle Theme.

I own the soundtrack, and Piano Collection, both in CD format, on my Ipod, PS3 and computer.

.... my favorite 'album' ever.

Better yet, if you're ever near a beach, wait until sunrise, pick a good spot, and start Wandering just as it it starting to come up.

Even better!

^ I did that. I was floating (lol) in a small wooden boat like thing. The skies were reeeeeally blue, with the odd cloud and bird. It was hot and the sun was shining down. It was such a beautiful day.

So I lay back, put my IPod in, and put on Wandering Flame.. I was so overwhelmed with emotion (not even sure which emotion it was). As pathetic as this sounds, it was a very profound moment in my life-- I felt so at peace, and yet detached from reality...

Quite frankly... While I didn't hate the soundtrack, I didn't like it either... At all. :mokken:

The only two songs that stuck out where "To Zanarkand" and that song from the beginning. Other than that, I can't think of one other track from that game that I liked in the slightest. It was rather bland to me, and definitely not one of Nobuo's strongest soundtracks.

At least it isn't like FFXIII though. I don't like anything off that soundtrack. O_O

The FFX soundtrack is one of my favorite soundtracks in the FF series besides FFVII.

One of my favorite tracks is the Via Purifico track. I remember playing the game while this song was playing and nearly falling asleep to it. This song is so eerie and soothing at the same time.

My other favs are The Hymn Of The Fayth, Wandering Flame, Run!, Challange(Yunalesca fight.), and many others.

Oh I forgot challenge. Pretty awesome.

@ Rincewind, FFXIII was indeed a disappointment. However, the battle themes are great. It's a pity they are the only think I can pick out.

I had forgotten how good the X soundtrack was till I listened to those songs listed and had the memories come flooding back. The only ones I could ever remember from this were To Zanarkand and Hymn of the Fayth. I didn't really like the regular boss music from X but I did like the final battles.

Oh I forgot challenge. Pretty awesome.

That's true but the pulse chocobo music is pretty good too, unlike the Cocoon music which I thought was awful.

Am I right in thinking that Final Fantasy X was the final game that Nobuo Uematsu scored fully? Anyways, you can tell that Nobuo is in charge (he is sorely missed in later games).

I think there are some very memorable pieces in FFX. To Zanarkand has transcended the gaming world, and people all over the internet are playing it on videos on Pianos/Guitars and so on. The standard battle theme is refreshingly different for a battle theme, but at the same time has the same feel to it.

My one gripe with the music in this game is that with the exception of one or two locales (Mount Gagazet springs to mind), very few of the town/place themes actually stand out. I think earlier games did a great job of making the various towns and cities have their own distinctive feel with the various themes (FFVII and FFIX spring to mind).

Otherwise, the battle themes, boss themes, and "action" themes are very strong. I guess it is the more peripheral background themes that let the score as a whole down for me.

FFX had the best music in a video game I ever heard. I liked the saxophone or whatever it was in Auron's theme, it just brought out how awesome and calm he was.
The Hymn of the Fayth was another great song and I felt like I was in a dream everytime it played.
Oh...don't forget about Someday This Dream Will End.
To Zanarkand is my favorite video game music ever. It made the game feel like the game was the most epic adventure ever...even though it isn't that long. It also has a sad feel and it makes me want to watch the intro again every time I start the game.

FFX is my favourite in every way including the soundtrack.

It just felt so much more magical compared to the others for me personally.

The Sending and To Zanarkand were just gorgeous and so emotional. I really did love the opening with To Zanarkand when Tidus is telling you it's his story.

It really set up the game nicely.

To Zanarkand never fails to take my breath away. What an absolute work of art.
The Hymn Of The Fayth, especially at the Sending, my gosh.
A Contest of Aeons is another mention.

Infact, there's not one song I didn't like on Final Fantasy X. Each song was very well done, they suited the game perfectly. FFX was my favourite OST!

I think X had an alright soundtrack, some really nice works and some not so great. not really one of my fave soundtracks, although i did like To Zanarkand, Challenge, the Via Purifico music, Tidus' theme, Yuna's theme and a few others. Oh and how could I forget Sudeki da ne?

FFX has my favorite character theme, but isn't my favorite FF soundtrack of all time. I love Yuna's Theme, I just do, I don't know why. It fits her character so well. I could listen to it fifty times. I also love Rikku's theme. It's really pretty and different.

And I love the battle music, too! In fact, I love the whole soundtrack. I love the use of piano in general. The piano is my favorite instrument after all! I also love the way the music seems to capture the game's story, which is really rare!

Final Fantasy X has THE best soundtrack in the entire series. All of the music perfectly suits the situations and the environments. It has a greater number of tracks that are top notch than any other game. To The End of The Abyss, To Zanarkand, Silence Before The Storm, The Sight of Spira, Thunder Plateau, and Macalania Forest are amongst the many great songs in this game. Even the battle themes, especially Seymour's Theme, are potentially the best in the series.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts, whether positive or constructed critisism I see a lot of mutual favorites among the posters. I believe the most favorited is To Zanarkand so far. Maybe because of the event it corresponds with, it's an emotional bit.

I loved the music from ffx, my fav ost in the whole ff series. My fav songs are challenge when fighting lunalesca, seymour omnis, blitzball when playin blitzball and the whole seymour's theme was amazing but did creep me out a little, I even have sang the whole theme to "isnt it wonderful" to my friend as I heard it that may times!

FFX's OST was my favorite out of the series, hands down. Despite me not liking one of the main tracks (Otherworld), I still consider this to be one of the most enjoyable soundtracks of the series.

Even the battle music fit perfectly, for example, Challenge. It really kept me focused on the battle. I even thought Enemy Attack was a perfect fit for some of the battles, one being Evrae Altana. Whenever I hear that song again, I think of that battle.

The best tracks for me would have to be Servants of the Mountain, Summoned Beast Battle, and Shiva's Hymn of the Fayth.

FFX was a nice change of pace from the previous OST's, i really dug some of the combat and field themes. It isn't my favorite, but it has its merits. I'm not a fan of the 'to zanarkand' theme, but to each his own.
