Multiple Platforms Mortal Kombat

Premiere Russian gaming magazine, IgroMania, has revealed an alternate cover for their latest issue, and in doing so, confirmed another favourite for Mortal Kombat in 2011!

MK's first lady of fighting, Sonya Blade, appears in fully rendered glory alongside series mascot, Scorpion, in a mock character select screen that references the first two games, and characters from other articles as well. This is the first time Sonya has appeared officially, sporting a decidedly different look from her traditional outfits. The render(s) replace cover artwork designed around NetherRealm Studios' Mortal Kombat dragon symbol and title text [pictured below].

The image confirms months of speculation regarding Sonya's impending status; leaked by IgroMania's Editor-in-Chief via their website message board. The issue, No. 12 (159), officially goes on sale November 23, with a five-page feature on the new game.

Can't really say I am surprised by this one. Sonya has always been a fan favorite and she is also the first female MK character as well so that alone tells me she'd be in the game. I never really used her much though but I am glad she made the cut.

Damn that looks epic!

Damn the 3D fatalities are gonna make me drool :3

Wonder if Noob or Smokes gonna be in this one.

Kratos to appear in Mortal Kombat PS3

Haha Kratos vs Shoa Kahn (no idea how to spell that bastard's name)

According to the latest issue of US OPM, God of War’s Kratos is set to appear in the PS3 version of Mortal Kombat.

Sony’s big mascot will appear as a special character and will have his own God of War-themed arena, combat moves and his own fatalities.
Kick-ass, etc.
Mortal Kombat releases next year.
Thanks, StickSkills.

Update
______________________________________________________________________

Spawn was supposed to post this but I guess he forgot...

More possible characters for Mortal Kombat 2011 leaked from MK9 website

mk11.jpg

Some voice into clips for more possible Mortal Kombat 2011 characters popped up on the lovely internet today, and if the voices are accurate, it looks like the roster for Netherrealm Studios’s newest fighter is filling out rather well.
If you wish to remain pure, don’t look below the break.

According to a post over on Evil Avatar, the fighting intro sequences feature quotes for: Ermac, Goro, Kabal, Noob Saibot, Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, Sindel, Smoke and Stryker. Sektor is also mentioned.
An announcer in a voice file also mentions Test Your Might and Brutalities.
Since the information came from a few sound files, it’s uncertain if the information listed in this post will be in the final product, so just keep that in mind when reading all of this.
Here is what the following roster looks like so far if the sound files are any indication:
  • Shao Khan
  • Sonya
  • Cyrax
  • Scorpion
  • Sub-Zero
  • Sektor
  • Reptile
  • Mileena
  • Jax
  • Kung Lao
  • Shang Tsung
  • Stryker
  • Kabal
  • Quan Chi
  • Kitana
  • Johnny Cage
  • Nightwolf
  • Ermac
  • Sindel
  • Noob !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Smoke !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Goro
  • Liu Kang
  • Raiden
Apparently, what happened was Netherrealm was updating the Mortal Kombat site and forgot to “lock out some of the content temporarily, allowing savvy users to browse the directories freely”, according to SRK.
Click on the respective links for the rest.
Mortal Kombat 2011 is slated for PS3 and Xbox 360 next year.

Odd. Shao Kahn looks more like Havik to me whatever. Anyway I am not a major fan of the GoW series but I have to say this is a smart move. I would buy it for the PS3 if only for an extra character unless the 360 version gets it's own exclusive character. The only way I would be tempted to buy the 360 version is if they get an exclusive character of their own and it happens to be a good one. A Killer Instinct character would be epic.

According to Gametrailers, a new character will be revealed at the Video Game Awards tomorrow at 8PM ET/ 5PM PT on Spike TV. I wounder which of the characters from the list that Ohri-Jin posted will be revealed on this show. Anyway, I'm so happy that Smoke made it to the roster since he is one of my favorite character besides Kung Lao and Scorpion.

This list is looking more and more impressive as time goes on. Still hoping for Baraka though. To a lesser extent, I am also hoping Jade and Rain manage to make the cut. But even if they're not in it, I'd still be happy for who is in already.

I never cared for Brutalities much so I highly doubt I will use them unless they get changed completely into something new and nice to look at instead of just making it a combo and the opponent just exploding.

As rumored this past week, Kratos was confirmed during tonight's Spike VGAs as playable in the forthcoming Mortal Kombat reboot. Scorpion's all "Get over here!" and Kratos is all "I don't think you know who I am!" You shoulda seen it! Well, actually, you can -- right now! The full debut of Kratos can be found after the break.

I know I may sound like a broken record here but this those graphics look awesome! Seriously the amount of details that they are making to the characters is just awesome. It makes it hard for me to remember that at one time they were all just 2D sprites. It is just really amazing

Mortal Kombat
's 2011 reboot will tell consumers to "get over here" in April 2011. That's the latest release window kurrently offered by Warner Bros. Interactive, with Warner Home Video's publicity site listing a more specific April 19, 2011.

To compliment its reveal of Kratos as a playable character in the PS3 version of the game, WB has announced standard, Kollector's and Tournament editions (along with several retailer-specific pre-order incentives, listed after the break).

The Kollector's Edition will include Sub-Zero and Scorpion figurines, a collectible art book, and DLC for "Mortal Kombat Klassic costume skins" and avatar costumes. The Tournament Edition, which will have a limited run of 20,000 copies in North America, will contain the game, DLC and ... a "portable fight stick." 'Cause, you see, if it were a fight log it wouldn't be "portable" -- it's a very necessary adjective.

Retailer-specific pre-order bonuses:

GameStop: Klassic Scorpion Playable Character Skin and the original Scorpion Fatality.

Best Buy: Klassic Sub-Zero Playable Character Skin and the original Sub-Zero Fatality.

Amazon: Klassic Reptile Playable Character Skin and the original Reptile Fatality.

Now that sounds pretty interesting for the LE. I wouldn't mind having an arcade stick. I would like to learn to play with one eventually. As for the DLC when they say "Klassic fatality" I am sure for Scorpion they mean his "Toasty" fatality and Sub-zero they will probably use the Spine Rip but which one of Reptile's do they plan on using since he had two in the first game he was playable in. Nonetheless I'll probably pick up Klassic Reptile since he happens to be one of my all-time favorites.

Today the Official Playstation Magazine has revealed a new character, Ermac. Also I have some information from the magazine. Here are some pictures from the new Playstation Magazine.

On page 46 of PLAY magazine (bought in the UK) issue #199 it says at the bottom:

"Raiden, Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn and Kano have all been confirmed"

Further up the page, Boon is talking about the special moves that certain tag team combinations will have and he says:

"To me it would be great if everybody knew that Sub-Zero and Scorpion worked well together or that Jax and Sonya worked well together"

"Those are classic combos and maybe something that players can look to. Did we put a special move for when Raiden is with Shao Kahn or Raiden is with Liu Kang or something? Those are the ones we really want people to be able to discover"

Also here are 2 new concept arts of Ermac and Goro.

Sweet! It looks like they're using Ermac's badass look from MK Deception. With so much information coming out for this game it really making it hard to wait for April to get here. As for Goro, I've never really liked him, though part of it deals with him kicking my butt in the original MK. >.>

Definately getting this, after the disappointment that was MK VS DC i thought Mortal Kombat wouldn't be good again. But i'm glad i was wrong this looks excellent, the x-ray moves are unique and awesome. As for finding out about Kratos being in, he fits in quite well more than he did in Soul Calibur.

I might have missed it if it was in a previous post but is there any news on the Krypt and if the game will have any of the mini games like the racing and puzzle games like in the previous Mortal Kombat's.

I'm just glad Raiden, Scorpion and Sub-Zero are in it but I wonder if any of the lesser characters will make it like Taven, Meat, Blaze, Drahmin and a couple of the other characters I can't seem to remember.

Mortal Kombat will only have the Test Your Might mini game. They haven't mention any other mini or puzzle games. As for the few characters that you mention, they will not appear on this game because the characters are already been chosen. There is a post with a list of characters that will be appearing on this roster. Ed Boom mention in one of his interview that the number of characters that will be on this roster will be in the 20's, so they aren't going to add all of the characters to this roster.

Edit:

According to Gerry Block, senior product manager for PDP, the differences between the arcade stick packaged with the $150 Tournament Edition of Mortal Kombat and the popular Street Fighter FightSticks produced by Mad Catz is culturally based.

"Mad Catz did some good work with the Tournament Edition (Street Fighter IV) sticks," Block told Kotaku, "but those are Japanese style sticks for a Japanese game. We thought it would be a lot of fun to respond with an American style stick for an American fighting franchise." That's why the MK stick has parts more traditionally associated with American arcade machines: a bat-top stick instead of a ball-top, concave buttons instead of convex, and parts made by Happ instead of Sanwa. That should make it the ideal stick for the American Mortal Kombat -- and only for Mortal Kombat, thanks to the wacky button layout that game uses.

Other design elements aren't so much America-focused as just nice. The internal components are encased in easily removable transparent plastic for modding, and the bottom of the stick has a memory foam pad for comfortable use on your lap.

Sindel huh? Not a bad choice at all. Can't really use her well but I always thought she was a cool character. Also yay for Ermac being in! Ermac and Kenshi have always been interesting characters to play as with their powers of telekinesis so I'm glad at least one of them made the cut.

Eh. I think I'll stick with Amazon's offer. While I do like Scorpion and Sub-Zero, I am a complete Reptile fan so I'm sticking with that offer. So Amazon has my vote here. Plus release date shipping for $1 more than regular shipping price is too good to pass up and I also save gas money that way. >.>
