Multiple Platforms Mortal Kombat

Mortal Combat looks awesome. I will be sure to purchase this and Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 when they are released next year. I believe that it's a good thing for Mortal Kombat to be more focused on its classic style than the recent games.

Looks like I'm going to be the first person in this thread to say, I liked Deadly Alliance. It had a great story and I would have never expected them to kill off the head character. Or for Raiden to turn evil after finally becoming fed up with humanity. I liked Deadly Alliance and Deception as much as I liked the original 2D ones, though of course I still liked the 2D ones best. Armageddon had a good premise but it dropped the ball after that I felt. The endings to each character were awful and not worth going through all the fights for. I understand that having more characters means the endings probably wouldn't be as good but just a guy during random moves while the narrator speaks were lame.

That said I am also looking forward to this new game in 2011 because it looks awesome.

There is only one Mortal Kombat game that I've never played and it was Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe cause I never considered it a true Mortal Kombat game but I liked all the Mortal Kombat game's that I've played and I can't wait for the new one to come out looking forward to seeing some of the fatalities.

Here are two new Mortal Kombat trailers. Hope you guys like it!

Here are some new news announced today on a Mortal Kombat website.

GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley has confirmed Jax as well as The Subway for the upcoming Mortal Kombat! The show premiered early Friday morning and featured the usual gameplay montage present with press events, only this one featured several minutes of gameplay with Jax.

Jax is a grapple heavy character who seems to have a large amount of grabs and throws. Classic moves featured included his ground pound and a version of the gotcha grab. His X-Ray move was also showcased in which he performs a double backbreaker. Jax's win pose is most impressive as he reveals an American flag and cloaks himself in it. Appearance wise, he seems to be sporting an attire combination from MK2 and MK3, with metal arms with a machine gun strapped to his back as we saw in MKDA. He looks much more rugged and less sleek, as he was in his debut back in MK2. Though a fatality was not shown, Ed Boon revealed that Jax had a combination of his MK2 fatalities as one, ripping off the arms of his opponent and clapping his hands to decapitate them.

The Subway is a returning stage from Mortal Kombat 3. It looks much the same as it did in its 3D appearances, but the stage fatality has been updated to feature two trains instead of one. The victim is held in front of an oncoming train as the upper body is pounded before being thrown across the arena to be hit by another oncoming train, completing the stage fatality.

Other details include less certainty about the final number of characters. Ed revealed it remains "in the 20s" but the old number of 26 may no longer be up to date, as there may end up being less or more than originally planned (he also noted the character list was, in fact, not finalized as previously reported). Once again however, he hinted at the strong presence of DLC. Ed also took the time to answer a few commonly asked questions. Tag Team fatalities are a possibility, but only if time allows for them. Mini-games were also mentioned but he did not comment on specifics. Steve Beran was also interviewed about concept design for the characters, in which a large number of concepts for Scorpion's ninja suit were shown. Finally, the classic Spine Rip fatality by Sub-Zero was also shown.

If you missed the show, it is now online at GTTV's website. Click here to watch it!

Here are some high quality pictures for you guys.

Wow, I haven't played Mortal Kombat in YEARS!! my favorite of the series was MK Trilogy for Playstation 1. My favorite character was Kintaro. I used to kick some serious ass with him, none of my friend who fought me as him could ever beat me. I got so good playing Kintaro I can beat that game on any difficulty level with ease.

I mean look at him, isn't he just a powerful badass or what?..lol.

Like Spawn has already posted JAX = BAX

Ed Boon has revealed the return of Jax, a.k.a. Jackson Briggs, for Mortal Kombat 2011 in the latest edition of GameTrailers TV.
Apparently, the classic character is “bigger, and more bad-ass than ever” as well.

Check him out in action in Chapter 2 on GameTrailers TV.
Boon lets slip in the interview that there’s going to more characters in the game than have been revealed so far: “somewhere in the 20s” to be precise, but there isn’t a final number just yet as more characters will be thrown in there via DLC.
Sounds awesome to us.
Mortal Kombat 2011 is slated for release next year on PS3 and Xbox 360.
Thanks, Joystiq.

Here is another picture of Jax with the American flag.

Mortal Kombat creative lead Ed Boon took to GameTrailers TV last night in order to reveal the latest character for the forthcoming series reboot: Jax. For the handful of you who've never made the acquaintance of the metal-armed gentleman, his Christian name is Jackson Briggs and he was first introduced in Mortal Kombat 2. Though he didn't end up with metal arms until Mortal Kombat 3, he'll be appearing in next year's MK fully kitted out.

Five new screenshots featuring everyone's favorite box office star Johnny Cage have hit the official Mortal Kombat site! These images feature Johnny (or his stunt double perhaps) taking abuse at the hands of Mileena, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, the three revealed characters that are also featured on the site. Johnny doesn't only take the abuse, he also dishes it out to himself as well!

Johnny Cage shows off his Shadow Kick and Green Energy Ball while Mileena performs her trademark Teleport Kick. Sub-Zero performs a Ground Freeze to plant Cage in place while Scorpion drags Cage towards him with his patented Hellfire Spear.

These images can be viewed on the official site by clicking the character portraits of the corresponding character (Raiden and Shao Kahn feature the Cage vs. Cage screens) and then clicking "Brutal things come to those who wait".

Jax has been confirmed? Eh, I don't really care much about him.

lol@ Johnny Cage's twitter.

Ohri has good taste in characters. If Baraka and Noob are included I will be completely happy with the roster.

They've really gone all out to bring the nostalgia factor back to Mortal Kombat. Has anything about Stage Fatalities and/or Deathtraps been confirmed yet for the new Mortal Kombat?

Also is it me or did that first image make Sektor look more like Kenshi?

I also have a question Spawn, is there an online multiplayer option as well?
I hope so !

Yes Netherrealms Studios has shown some stage fatalities. Here is a video of a stage fatality of the Pit.

I hope so !

Mortal Kombat will have a various game modes features. It will have the traditional 1 vs 1 matches, an online experience, a "tag-team"- which up to 4 players can play in it, also 2 players can team up in the new "Co-op Arcade Mode" or compete against another team online.

Edit: Here is a new video of Mortal Kombat. Enjoy!

Will this game have a proper storyline for each character cause seeing the story for Sub Zero its way different than the other game's and how many brothers does he have anyway cause it seem's in each game he's related to a new person and there always his brother.

The trap look's good can't wait to see a couple more.

I'm not 100% sure if each character will have their own storyline but it looks like it from the looks of the videos. I will let you know if they release some information about it.

Anyway here are two extra videos of Mortal Kombat.
