Just thought this was cool. Did anyone live close enough to see this?

(I love how the news station had to circle it in red on the replay--I don't think I would've been able to see it otherwise )

There's another short article on it here with a better video, I just can't figure out how to embed it:

Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

oh, I saw it last night. It was pretty sweet
I thought it was going to impact, but it didn't
Actually, I was on here, and the sky started to glow, so I looked out my window quickly, and there it was.

Wtf dude a Meteor are you serious? Holy fuck man I would have been scared to hell. You could have died if it hit you know? Were you scared?

nope, i love fire, and seeing it in the sky amazed me, it looked like it flew over my house, but i'm not sure.
It never impacted though, it burned up in the atmosphere

I actually heard about this today from a classmate who saw this last night, though I didn't see it myself. I could've if I was outside at the time, but I wasn't. I wish I saw it. DX

I saw it. xD There was suddenly a really bright light outside and I turned around to see it, and I could see it through my bedroom window. There was a huge crash-like noise too, actually. It was kinda freaky at the time because I didn't know what it was, but it's cool now that I know. :hmmm:

I live in southwestern Wisconsin, btw. :monster: So I guess it went over Wisconsin xD

You can see fire in the sky every day courtesy of our dear friend the Sun.

Anyway, you have no idea how super bummed out I am that I missed this. Had I seen the meteor, I probably would've done a little jig.

Also: I like how the news report played the video of it a second time, but had a circle around the meteor. I want to meet someone who had to watch it again and say "OOOOHHHH. THAT was the meteor."

wtf now im really scared, the wind is acting crazy outside, its freaking me out.And theres the massive fireball,I hope 2010 is not even a small example of what would happen in 2012.

Haha, love how they put a circle around it!

Wow, that is awesome. I would've love to see something like that, but then again I probably would've passed out 'cause that must've been really scary haha. It's a shame our side of the pond (England) doesn't get to see anything like that. -.-

that's immense, I want one over here :mokken:

Though me being me, Id miss it

That was HUGE!

That's the biggest thing falling from the sky I've seen. :O

Ha ha, that's what I thought. It's too huge to miss. The only other thing that people could possibly have been looking at by mistake is the lampost, in which case they deserve to be confused and miss it!

We get some meteor showers some times but I've never seen something as huge as that. Then again it isn't as if it is avoiding us because meteors are banned from entering British airspace, it's just luck (good or bad depending on if it burns up and creates a show or crashes and potentially kills people).

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Like this one did most will burn up as they enter the atmosphere. If a big beast was coming towards us to kill us all we'd likely know about it long before it hits.

And the 2012 apocalypse is not going to happen. Well... If it does now and I've just jinxed the entire planet (sorry :sad2:) then it'll likey be a coincidence.

Some people have planned their entire lives around the possibility of 2012 (honestly, I know of some people who have!) but there is no point in worrying about it.

There's no real reason to be scared. What Argor said - nearly all objects from space (if they are small enough) are burnt up in the atmosphere before they strike the ground and cause devastation. This was no doubt no exception. It was never going to be any more than a fiery spectacle.

As for the 2012 thing, don't be too caught up about it either. It's just a prediction based on myth - as far as I can tell, there's no real scientific evidence to indicate that the world will be torn apart or something in 2012. There was supposed to be some kind of apocalypse happening in or by 2000 - nothing happened then.

As for that meteor thing - oh wow, that must have been such a sight. It's just too bad that I'm always on the wrong side of the planet when these events happen e.g. solar eclipses etc. I hope it didn't really traumatise anyone during the time. I know I would have been utterly scared if I didn't fully know what it was. :wacky:

Only thing that was suppose to happen in 2000 was Y2k. Computers fuckin' up because they couldn't switch from 1999 to 2000. But this is the end of the world, just Pray Gandpa Gohan makes it in time.

That's awesome you got to see it, man.

(wish I could see a meteor--I love that stuff)

I have seen the video but it's not cool enough, ye know. I wish I could see more, is what I mean. :hmmm:

And where was I when this happened, you ask? In a basement room, back to the tiny window, working on GFX. xD I didn't see it at all. I'm not even sure if it was visible in Illinois, but I'd say that if Jess saw it, I could've. I miss every cool thing that happens. :jtc:
