Kimahri becomes irrelevant?

I think it depends on what part of the sphere grid you send him to. On my most recent playthrough of FFX, I sent him to Rikku's path, and having an additional character able to use Steal/Use (but mainly Use, for Al Bhed potions) was a great addition. I always have Yuna nip onto Rikku's path just for Steal, Use and a handful of HP up spheres on her way, so that way I have 3 characters able to use Al Bhed potions.

Next, I'll add the additional Stength Up sphere from beating the Goers onto Rikku's path, so both she and Kimahri can benefit from the boost early on. Kimahri's early high stength stat, coupled with the sharp boost in HP and agility from Rikku's path makes him quite deadly until about halfway in the game, when everyone else comes in to their own.

I do fully agree with a lot of what has already been said in this topic though. Blue magic should have been used a lot better, of Kimahri should have had a full path of his own, instead of suffering from an identity crisis after 6 hours of gameplay!

I think I used Kimahri a total of 2 times throughout the entire game. And one time was when I was forced to. I never used him, he's always been useless to me.

But, I still love him. <3

Kimahri is a wild card. Given that you can access any section of the Sphere Grid with ANY character, you can't say any of them become irrelevant any time. Unless of course, you stopped fighting with them =P

I completely neglected that wordless blue man after that. The only time he was really thought about was when Yuna mentioned him. He followed the party around and I still couldn't really see him. He's the weakest on my team, as well, since I never use him. While everyone is currently passed 9999HP, he still sits near 2k.

lol poor guy

I neglected him during my first play through but in in subsequent ones, I began to use him more.

I used the expert sphere grid and with that, you can make any character you like pretty much. Auron could be the fast agile attacker and Tidus the slow tank.

He became a mainstay in one play through because I made him an absolute beast (no pun intended) with his powerful magic and physical attacks. I wanted to make up for the times I'd not used him. :hmmm:

I think the regular sphere grid is what makes people ignore him.

I've never neglected to raise my entire party throughout any FF.

The only character who became obsolete was Lulu. Flans aside, magic does a pittance of damage against every foe in the game.

The best character for me was Auron. With attack being the best basic offensive move in the game Kimahri was funnelled down that route and suddenly I had two powerful attackers with the incredibly useful break abilities and cover abilities.

Invaluable.

EDIT: Plus his robust physique suits the role :monster:

Kimahri is kind of the red mage of the group. He can do absoultely anything, but good at nothing. You can choose a path to send him down so you can have an extra whatever and he is quite useful until Auron shows up.

I'll admit though, he character did seem like it was thrown in just so the game cold have it's half man half creature. At times I even forget he is even there D:

I think they should have given him his own sphere grid. Maybe they could have made him into a dragoon because he had dragoon abilities? And I do agree about his blue magic. They should have made it a skill that you can use at any time and not as a limit break. Might guard and white wind could have really come in handy several times.
