So I'm sitting here at work, thinking about replaying FF games and whatnot, and this question pops into my head.

Did Jecht put Tidus near Besaid so that he would run into Yuna?

I know he purposefully brought him from Zanarkand to Spira (first 5 minutes of the game). Then after Tidus meets the Al Bhed salvage team (and Rikku), he gets blasted away again by Sin. I would think Jecht, being Sin, would know that Yuna is going to do what Braska did, and that he wanted Tidus to go with her, knowing they'd end up facing each other. He also uses Auron to guide Tidus/Yuna to not follow the normal path of facing Sin (but that part is obvious).

I don't think the game ever explained why Sin attacked Tidus the second time so soon after the first. Anyone else thought about this?

The whole scenario of Tidus coming to Spira is based on the Knowledge Jecht.,Auron and Braska obtian when they get the final summoning, it not exactly said in the game but its hard to come away from FFX thinking it was all just a massive coincidence.

Sin interferes not once but twice to get him where was going to make a difference, its difficult to say whether Jecht & Auron wanted Tidus and Yuna to come together or if they wanted Tidus to just turn the place on its head and change the world.

I think it was a gamble they took not knowing what Tidus would do on Spira, they gambled if his charisma could help quell the inequality of the Spiran Society and convince those with the power, his follow Gaurdians, to help change Spira once Tidus was exposed to its ways.

I think after you finish the game and find out Auron's/Jecht's past, you can say Jecht took Auron to get Tidus to Spira. It was probably to eventually bring Tidus to kill Jecht/Sin.

Yea, I was mainly thinking the second time Sin moves Tidus, from to the Sunken Temple (where you get Anima) to Besaid was because Jecht/Auron thought Tidus should go with Yuna on her journey.

That just goes you cant account for everything!

Tidus was at the Baaj Temple for an unknown reason, if Jecht supposedly interfered to get Tidus to Besaid, it stands to reason that is where he was supposed to go in the first place.

As for for Tidus killing Jecht that was a decision made after they killed Yunalesca? as a consequence of destroying Sin completely, itwas not ordained not like the other stuff. I still think he was there to stir up trouble for yevon.

Seru, the only thing we know for sure is that Auron and Jecht planned to bring Tidus to spira..........for what exact purpose we don't know.........either way he was going to change it for the better.

It's all theorycrafting, since the game doesn't actually tell us that much.

But when Sin takes Tidus to Spira, it could've randomly put him at the Baaj Temple, and then the second time Sin hits him he got sent to Besaid. It's a little far fetched, but maybe Sin couldn't place him in a specific place in Spira, and that he could only get him there, and then put him near Besaid. It's a little out there, but that's theorycrafting for you.

Yea, I don't think Tidus went to Spira because he was supposed to kill Jecht, but his direct actions (bonding with Yuna, finding out about Jecht) helped motivate the guardians to kill Yunalesca instead of doing what every other summoner had done.

Sorry Seru that was supposed to be "an unknown reason".

Theorycrafting by an expert theoretician, apparently my word (theoretician) really exists Seru and theorycrafting gets a spell check lol

Whatever, Theorizing is all we can really do in these situations similar exposition regarding the Lifstream with out more core source information speculations is our only recourse.

I believe that Sin (Jecht) placed Tidus where Yuna was on purpose so that he would protect Yuna. When you first find Auron in Luca and he tells Yuna that he promised Braska that he would protect her, he then says that Tidus must come with them because it was a promise to Jecht (if i do recall that correctly). Therefore, i believe Jecht placed Tidus in all these areas knowing what would happen.

Most likely, he showed up in Zanarkand after they left the temple and seemed to respond to what Tidus said, he appeared at Mushroom Rock according to Auron in order to see Tidus, not to mention at the beginning Auron spoke to him as he hovered above Zanarkand. So yes I'd say it you are correct in assuming he sent Tidus to Besaid purposefully.

Remember that Auron rode on Sin to Zanarkand. Without Auron guiding Tidus, the story could have changed significantly since, as mentioned before, he knew the consequences of the Final Summoning. There's a possibility he was sent to Baaj Temple to either see the temple for what it was and/or Jecht/Sin knew that the Al Bhed would be going there, so it would be a chance for Tidus to learn a little about them.

Being that the Al Bhed exist outside of yevon and Tidus could learn from them and try and change spira?

Interesting Idea!

To learn about the Al Bhed?
To what end? apart from there language they had many things in common with most spirans, apart from being excommunicated in a fashion they, had some knowledge of Spiras past technology.

If you consider there role in Op Mehen (or as .Fran likes to call it Operation Failtastic)
they were barely tolerated and ultimately used as a tool of propaganda, being blamed for the failure of the OP.

What do they have to teach about the inner workings of Yevon?, Not much I would say........they are just about as ignorant as the the yevon Faithful when it comes to such things.

I don't think so. Jecht can't control himself when he's sin and he probably would have killed Tidus, accidently or purposefully, though it's likely he did try to move Tidus when he attacked the Al Bhed boat in Baaj temple.
Since Sin doesn't know anything and Auron was in Zanarkand, there's no way that either of them could know about Yuna just starting her journey. I think Auron turned up in Luca at the tournament because he was looking for Tidus.

Well one reason I was thinking so was because at the start of the game, Auron looks into the sky (where Sin is) and asks 'Are you sure?' or something like that. I do think that Jecht could still think or even semi control Sin to bring Tidus to Spira.

I remember someone mentioning on one of the forums here that Dream Zanarkand was written about in Ultimania as being an actual place physically within Spira, and that it was near Baaj Temple. So, if we're assuming that Jecht/Sin pulled Tidus out of DZ rather than the actual Zanarkand of the past...then it may stand to reason that he was dumped right outside DZ, which would be near Baaj Temple...which Tidus then swam to. Why Sin would then suddenly pick up Tidus later and put him near Besaid, and not pick him up right away, I don't know...
