i've just been exposed to supernatural

If I find the person that writes such fanservice into the show, I'm gonna shoot them in the face with a hammer.

So Let It Be Written.

Things do get a bit tacky, and even I'll admit that and I'm a big fan of the show. It's like... okay.... guys... GTFO with the whole 'dad expects us to do' and 'what measure is human' and 'metaphysical problems of the day'. Just... go out and kill things while frequently making wisecracks. GOSH.

And though the angel/demon/armageddon parts may not have been uber, they did have their highlights. Cas being one of them.

"[automated female voice] Hello, you have a call from: "[Cas] I don't understand, why do you want me to say my name?" Will you accept the call?

And,

Sam: What happened to you?
Cas: I found a liquor store.
Sam: ... And?
Cas: I drank it!

:wacky:
typical american slapstick humour. no substance to it.

I object to that. There's no slapstick in it -- no hitting, no slapping, no punching, no senseless pummeling, so therefore it cannot be slapstick. It is joking, jest, humor, witty one-liners and unexpected contradictions that are frequently hilarious. Slapstick humor has died out a long, long while ago, why? Because everyone hated it to death.

So you, sir, can jolly well go back to merry ol' England and enjoy the brittle jokes involving tea and cow patties. :mokken:

allow me to rephrase then.
typical american senseless humour. the be all and end all is that it's not funny nor entertaining. it's just irritating.

You're one to talk about senseless 'american' humor. Everyone is capable of 'senseless humor'. I find that watching two Brits dressed in hunting regalia while sipping tea and commenting on how one of the cow patty biscuits resembles St. George hardly amusing. Why do I use this example? Because I've seen it. It isn't remotely funny. Take a good look at "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". Entertaining? Sure, about as funny as watching a Holocaust movie. And unfortunately, this is widely considered to be the epitome of European comedy.

I rest my case.

and with that, you've just completely invalidated any opinion you might have on comedy.

Excellent high-comedy American humor for ya, brilliantly written, employing witty dialogue and clever plots for maximum entertainment. So There.

:P

I think we can all agree that different things strike different people as funny, yes? Well then, case closed. You like demented knights who've an obsession with coconuts. I like angels that drink. :dave: On the Sliding Scale of Ridiculousness, both are at the extreme end, right along with Captain America and Moddey Dhoo. Agree to disagree, aight?

But for the record, saying that American's only employ "stupid, senseless, slapstick humor" and that Brits are the epitome of refined comedy, helps you only if you aim to look prudish, which is [sarcasm] certainly helps break that British stereotype.[/sarcasm]

To each their own.

Different things make different people laugh. It's just the way of the world that people think differently and laugh differently, and at different things.
