Is Squall a warrior or a thief?
How exactly do you differentiate between the two?
Because in mmorpgs/rpgs nowadays, thieves/rogues are also very fast.

Thieves steal and warriors just fight.

Thieves are much faster, slightly weak and prefer weapons that are short and quick. Usually cheeky and don't have proper manners, just like Zidane in FFIX. Warriors, however, have great big swords and are very powerful. They are often found working for an organisation or protecting someone.

That's my theory.

:srsly: What?

I want to kick this thread.............there are no job classes in FFVIII but if there were Squall would be a warrior, unless you equip the dude with MUG then he can steal things
but no he not a thief.

I don't even know how you could even come to the conclusion that Squall is a thief. There is nothing thief-like about him. He's definitely a warrior.

Traditionally throughout the series, thieves used daggers and knives. However, some of the thieves in the series weren't straight thieves. Edge was like...Thief, Ninja, and Samurai all rolled into one. Locke was a thief, but the way 6 was set up he could equip more than just daggers. Yuffie was a Thief/Ninja (if you can even call her a "thief"...she didn't come with a Steal materia). Zidane was a thief and he used daggers and whatever his other weapons were called. Rikku was a Thief/Chemist. I picture them all being shorter, speedier characters. Squall never struck me as a small, speedy character.

Since no one has classes and you can pretty much make them how you want, he's neither. You could boost his speed really high and call him a theif, or raise his attack and call him a warrior, but he's neither one. He could be anything; a thief, warrior, mage, healer, summoner, and more, so he is no distinct class. He's just Squall.

This isn't a joke right? o__O

Since when did this game have classes? He's a man o__o FF clearly quit the class thing somewhere between ff5 and 6 before 9 brought it back...If you call Squall a warrior you may as well just call them all warriors.......or SeeDs.....Does SeeD count as a class?

Yeah, I don't quite understand where you got that Squall was a thief from but, at least in my eyes, he'd be more of a warrior.(He was more of an attacker when I played FF8) Like some have said, FF8 doesn't have the class system like previous FFs might have had.

Though, then again, I agree with Cecil Strife, Squall could be anything you want him to be depending on the commands you give him etc.

Totaly Obvious........

Squall is definitely and always will be a freaking warrior.

thief my ass.......if any character in FFVIII even has the resemblance of a thief, its a tie between Zell(freaking awesome character) and Selphie!

Looking at the thread title I expected this to be some sort of deep theoretical delve into Squall's mind mess.. kind of like that one huge thread about that theory that Squall is dead.

But this ended up actually making me laugh. I don't even think I understand the question you're asking (maybe because I don't know what a 'roque' is).

The only thing in this game that separates the characters' roles are their Junctioning and Limit Breaks, and Squall's Limit Break does not involve him stealing. There is also no steal command in the game, and I don't think there's any significant storyline piece in which Squall commits theft.. so your question just sounds totally out of the blue there.
