I didn't know to either put this in Meeting Room or Costa. :gasp:

Well, how to greet people?
I usally just say Hey! in RL.
But on teh I-net I usally say Yo or Eyy. :monster:

Irl, i generally greet people by saying "sup?" or "hey" or "what up" i usually greet people the same way.

Internet its "Ohai :elmo:"

O_0 Kinda random topic. Anyway...

In RL, I usually say Hey, Heya, Hey man, Yo, or something along those lines, usually followed by a handshake or a high five. Online I generally say the same things I would in RL minus the handshake or high five.

Edit: I also like to say whaddup :monster:

In real life, I typically say, "Oh hey" or "What's up?" when I greet someone I know. Same as online actually, now that I think about it.

"Hiya" I only say online. It sounds weird saying it in real life unless you're a really bouncy person.

I usually greet people bye saying Hi or how are you? Online is just about the samething. I usually say whats up. I can say other things also.

Hi sounds too normal for me. I have to be different :D I say basically anything else. Sup, hey, what's up, YO! lol online its anything and everything you could possibly imagine. Just coz I can.

Either:

+ the Scottish roots come through and I start with "awryt buddy ;)";
+ the 'let's mock neds' phase comes back and it's "babes ;)"
+ the forum lingo comes through and it's "ohai" or "hai2u".

This applies to both online and RL. :wacky:

Ohai online, or morning ladies, something along those lines

IRL, I think it depends on what Im doing, so I might just say Hiya you alright or I might be all HELLO LADIES, Duuuuuuuude was one I used when I met Katie, but we don't talk now, Hi baaabe, for Clare. It depends on the mood, person and situation for me

mines usually just a simple alright "personsnamehere", or alrite son/hun if its one of my mates (son for male/hun for female) simple and effective :P

In real life i speak very common, my accent is thick scots so its

Fit like en? or Howz it gan?

Fit like en is just saying What like are you today/how are you doin.
Howz it gan is just howz it goin.
When away from home il try and speak more proper like, use actual english words and stuff:wacky:

online - sup

I've never heard "fit like en?" but "how's it gan?" (possibly with a few extra a's) is quite popular with us. Some fool tried to start "how's it gannin?" but that didn't catch on, thank christ. xD
I also find myself saying "how's it gaaan?" or "how you gaaan?". Also when I am bidding someone fair well, I usually say "seeya", but apparently when I say it, it sometimes just sounds like a grunt, because I often neglect the "S" and the "y" sounds, so it comes out as something like "oiah".

Just the classic 'Hello' for me, but it's usually more like 'Helloooo' if it's somebody I like. And there's also the occasional 'Bonjour' if I'm feeling particularly continental. And I use 'Sup' sometimes as well... Those are the main three although it's normally just 'Hello'. Same for online as well, although I tend to use 'Sup' more I think. >_>

I hate when people say 'alright' or any of its variations though, I never know whether to actually answer it or just return it with another greeting. D:

It depends who it is, normally if it's someone I know I'll be like hellooooo or morning/evening or whatever time of day it is. But if it's someone I don't know personally I'll just be like, "alright".
I don't have a set online greeting though. :wacky:

'Hey' or 'How's it going?' is enough for me. i also do the whole 'morning', 'afternoon' thing and depending on whether or not I know what nationality the person I'm talking to is, I'll say that in their native language (zǎoshàng hǎo! Guten Morgen! etc. etc.). I can't say hi without sounding sexually confused.

RL: I usually say Hey, hi, watsup, depends on who I'm talking to

Online: Heyyy, hai, heya^^, lol hi and many more awesome greetings

I think it is a waste of time to greet, so I usually avoid it. Maybe waving with the hand at most if I see someone from far away.

But still, many people will treat it as an insult if I won't greet them in return after they have greeted me. So I try to greet in return, but rarely greet first.

For me greeting is a political tool which I use only in rare cases. For example if I see a teacher or a director I know, I'll always try to greet them first in order to make a good impression. I'll usually say "Hello" or something.

Ohhhh let's see... well it really depends on how close I am to the person (・×・). If it's just an acquaintance I would usually just say, "Heeyyyyy" or "Hii". On the other hand, if I know you, it's more like, "Alohaa!~" or "Hey doll" or "Hallo child" or "Hey there", or I'll just plain sing your name, hahaha. I still have a lot more, but my post would go on forever if I keep going, hahaha. (^ω^;)
